Two important questions. Please help
-
Peace to all,
I have two important questions If anyone can help me to find the answer. I tried to search on the forum but no luck.
Question 1 It seems to me that there is a contradiction between Chapter 9 verse 5 and Chapter 2 verse 256. In one verse "There is no compulsion in religion" but if you read other one "But if they repent and establish the Prayer and pay Zakah, leave them alone". It looks like that it is a force conversion.
Question 2 In chapter 9 verse 29 it states that " until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled". In the modern societies, state treat everyone equally. Whether you are a muslim or non-muslim everyone has to pay the tax. Can someone explain what is Jizyah?
If this topic already discussed before, can i request admins to give me the link.
Thanks

jizya is to compensate for not being drawn into the army. If in mixed society the ruler is was muslim and a war was entered into, no draft was to be enforced on non muslims, but still they were guranteed their safety by the muslim fighting so the jizya was instead of the draft. If the non muslims wanted to join the army no jyzia would be paid. And f muslims did not agree to the draft they also had to pay the jizzya. So it happened in Egypt with peasants who did not want to be drafted. They paid.

I think that a lot depends of how you translate what.
Kafarw for instance, is not not to believe, but to do wrong to those who believe, or something not generally approved as admissible. There are universal standards where no matter who, if a straight erson would agree that it was wrong enough to deserve coertion.
Az-zakaat is not properly charity as usually understood ut a contribution to upheld the common welfare, that is for neede people, sick people, orphans, etc. In fact a tax, but it is nto fixed as an amount int he Qur'an rather it tells to pay whatever youc an afford, but cover your family against needs first. It is obvious that that contribution should be levelled ont he whole of society.
As-salaat, if you read those first ayas well you will see that there are things shared by believers and mushrikin alike. they speak of the months forbidden and the hajj. They have, both sides, tadritions and understandings in common. Hajj is not something drawn by the Prphet out a a hat. It was already there, and it was a shared tradition.
Salaat, whatever it is, because if you visit the forum you can see that there is a lot of exchanges on what actually is salaat. At any rate, it seems that it was not either something introduced as a novelty by the prophet, but was already there, and the fellow contrymen of the prophet in fact were drifting away from sane traditions. Like always everywhere, by the way. It is not as may be suggested by some people, that some muslims drop on Mars and tell the martians "start doing salaat".

Thanks for your reply. Before moving to your second reply I just want to confirm that in your first reply, you want to say that irrespective of muslim or non-muslim if you do not want to take part in the military you need to give exemption tax according to the amount set by state. Is that correct?
If i understood correctly then how would you translate which many scholars translated as humiliation, subdued, brought to low etc.

Salam, huruf is not here but can you give me the verse that contain that word?

Is it saghiroona? (ن
-
Because if it is then saghiroona is from the root word of Sad-Gh-Ra ( ر = to be small/little. saaghirun - one who is small/little/subdued/abject or in a state of subjection. saghiir - small. asghar - smaller. saghaar - vileness, contempt, humiliation.
saghara vb. (1) pcple. act. 713, 7119, 929, 1232, 2737
saghar n.m. 6124
saghir n.m. (adj. comp. asghar) 2282, 9121, 1061, 1724, 1849, 343, 5453
LL, V4, p 415, 416 ## http//ejtaal.net/aa/#q=SGR
In 929 Allah/God (SWTAY) uses the word S?gir?na and it's in participle active verb Form 1. In Quranix.org it's nominative active masculine plural noun. Just letting you know i don't know much about grammar terms so you should verify this information.

Peace NK first accept the fact that Allah says there are no contradictions
in his words, dismiss that idea of contradictions entirely. Next learn the context of
ayats, chapters and the message in its entirety. When I look at sura 9 I think of war.
When I look at 2256 I think of laws/instructions of the deen. For me the context
is of two different things. Those two ayats must be studied independently.handshake
