Welcome.
Shahada, convert and Hadith are all religious man made constructs. Islam is a practical way of life which requires no public declaration like shahada. Islam is a way of freeing you from mental and physical bondage?s whether it is religious or non-religious. Question everything and seek patience with the Creator to guide you using his scripture and nature/reality.

There is No God. This is the first concept of Islam, so to claim the Qur'an is "the word of God" is not reasoned, the present translations of the Qur'an are very very corrupted, even a child could examine the translations using the lexicons and determine this is the case, Allah originally did not mean God. Islam was transformed into a religion through hadith around 200-400 years after the book was claimed written, before that Islam was a system of living in anarchic community, so to be a Muslim is not in saying a pointless sentence, but in living without any sovereign, suffering no compulsion upon yourself externally and never accepting or imposing riba (usury).
Very few claiming to be Muslims understand Islam, and the more religious they are the less they understand, in reality they are anti-Islamic, they would fight against true Islam if it once more grew, sadly Islam is presently lost.
I imagine you just want a pointless religion, one is as good as another, religious Islam is as valid as worshiping the purple people eater, if that were a religion, or the even more insane Christianity, sky gods are a relic of the ancient world, people can rarely reason so it perpetuates.

You know this could very well be a stepping stone for something great. gotta start somewhere, but most importantly, gotta keep moving forward !

I?ve been learning and wanting to convert for about a year now. But something was holding me back. I went to classes at my local Islamic Center. I came to believe that the Qu?ran is the true word of God. I however had a hard time accepting the Hadith as something I should follow. I found the whole idea and history of them to be problematic. So I was lost. I googled ?Qu?ran only Islam? and found I wasn?t alone or horribly misguided. I am now ready to say my Shahada and become a Muslim. I hope this online community will be the community that I cannot find in person. Thank you for having me. I look forward to learning more and sharing with you.
Not even the people who claim to follow Quran alone know everything and follow the Quran perfectly. But at least they are a step in the right direction, and most of the time they try to stick to only the Quran as a source. But there is more then only the Quran that was Revealed by God, like the Gospel, Psalms and the Tora etc. given to Moses, David, Jesus the Messiah, and there are many other Scriptures and Messengers.
So my advice to you is to not be in a hurry to become religious. Take your time to pray to God in a natural way, like just trying to connect with Him and ask Him to Guide you. Do your investigation. And do not follow people blindly, especially the majority.
I have read many Scriptures that were sent down by God. And i didn't waste my time with sectarian doctrines and false sources. And what i learned is that those Books teach us to not sin, and seek God and have a personal relationship with Him.
Also stay away from translations if you choose to study the Scriptures for your whole life. Most or nearly all are made by sects and groups that want to change other translations because they all think that they are having the correct understanding. If you have time, study the language of the Book. That's the only way you will know 100% what's written.
May God guide you. And guide me of course. Don't worry, just keep praying. It can be a long and bumpy ride, but you will learn a lot on the way.
