Sacred months

Salam to All,
Quran 2194] During the Sacred Months, aggression may be met by an equivalent response. If they attack you, you may retaliate by inflicting an equitable retribution. You shall observe God and know that God is with the righteous.
I was having a discussion with someone and he asked me if you don't follow hadith how u will know what is the Sacred months in the verse I quoted above.
Surely also I would like to know which are these months using the Qur'an

First of all it is not sacred but restricted months... It's not at all relevant to us... We should understand that quran is guidance and mercy... But everything written in it will not point at us... It is so crucial... When God said WELL KNOWN months then the audience knew it and no need of further elaboration... But for us we don't know what those well known or restricted months are... Do we restrict any month in our life? When God said "Don't raise the voice above the prophet " can this verse fit for us... No... Quran was revealed in a language of a community and it is for them entirely.. But guidance is there in Quran for all in general... Tgose who take the guidance from God is really fortunate.. Not only this restricted month but there are many which you will not have answers if you dig deep... For example "First house built for mankind" do you know as per QURAN what is it now? .. We can research but you cannot conclude perfectly... So is it important for us for our guidance... No way.. But for those who lived with Mohamed it was..coz they knew -

These are big subjects.. Haj is no more.. Yes it was during 4 months well known from Ibrahim to Mohamed and in well known place the same place from Ibrahim to Mohamed .. And it was from Ibrahim to Mohamed practiced mainly to spread the message for wider community rather than confine with the people of the prophets... Now no more prophets and no more haj and all you want is with Quran as message for guidance.. No need to go and get guidance to a certain place where no one is there to preach with a message...
