    Salam sisters n bros,
We know from the Quran tht Moses saw a fire on Mount Sinai n tht GOD directly communicated with him on the Mount. GOD was revealing Himself 2 the mountain
When Moses came at our appointed time, and his Lord spoke with him, he said, "My Lord, let me look and see You." He said, "You cannot see Me. Look at that mountain; if it stays in its place, then you can see Me." Then, his Lord manifested Himself to the mountain, and this caused it to crumble. Moses fell unconscious. When he came to, he said, "Be You glorified. I repent to You, and I am the most convinced believer."
Thus this is a clear supernatural event with no natural expnantion whtsoever. Also does any of u think tht GOD wld once again communicate directly with anyone on tht Mounatin 2day? GOD Bless!

      peace be upon you,

i think an allegorical explanation would be necessary, I like Shabbir Ahmed's interpretation but I'm open for other possible metaphorical views

7143 When Moses arrived at the appointed time, and his Lord spoke to him, Moses said, "My Lord! Show me Yourself, such that I can see You." His Lord said, "You cannot see Me. The best way to see Me is to look at this mountain and think. If you contemplate, you will understand that even a single mountain is made of countless atoms that were scattered. Then consider that you have seen Me." Realizing this, Moses imagined the Glory of His Lord through His signs in the Universe. He was stunned and when he recovered his senses, he said, "Infinite are You in Your Glory! I feel embarrassed and repent at my question. I am among the foremost believers.? (The 7,359 feet high Mount Sinai is standing to this day. Therefore contrary to popular literal translation of this verse, its understanding in allegorical terms is preferred. Also, a Prophet of God is unlikely to make a demand to behold God in physical form).

        Salam Idris,
I do not agree with this interpretation at all. We know from Quran tht He saw a fire n tht was energy i.e. the energy of GOD
When he saw a fire, he said to his family, "Stay here. I have seen a fire. Maybe I can bring you some of it, or find some guidance at the fire."
When he reached it, he was called from the edge of the right side of the valley, in the blessed spot where the burning bush was located "O Moses, this is Me. GOD; Lord of the universe.
So there is no natural explanation. GOD Bless!

I don't think that verse is allegorical at all. The mount exists in Saudi Arabia and currently called Jabal al-Lawz. Its got everything there, including an altar with engravings of an Egyption ram diety, and the top of the mountain is completly charred. Saudis got it all fenced off right now. I've seen footage of it. Its really kind of chilling.

fromhttp //www.baseinstitute.org/Sinai_1.html and its following pages

HARRED PEAK AND MELTED ROCK Continuing to Jabal al Lawz, and after a great deal of maneuvering to gain access to the mountain, we found the top of the mountain to be thoroughly blackened, as if the rocks had been severely scorched from without. When we broke open the rocks, we found that they were actually granite rocks with a blackened ?rind? and an untouched core of pure granite inside. We had already read in Exodus 1918, ?Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the Lord descended upon it in fire . . . .?

BOUNDARY MARKERS As we explored further around the base of the mountain, we discovered large piles of rocks arranged in a semicircle around the front of the mountain, spaced about every 400 yards. Measuring about five feet high and 20 feet across, these piles could be the boundary markers set up by Moses, as he had been instructed by God ?. . . You warned us saying, ?set bounds around the mountain and consecrate it?? (Exodus 1923).

GOLDEN CALF ALTAR In a flat area at the base of the mountain we also discovered that large boulders had been placed together, creating an altar-like formation 30 feet tall and 30 feet across - quite possibly the altar where the golden calf was set up and worshiped by God?s disobedient people. On the rocks were etched ancient drawings of a bull god, as described in Exodus 324, where Aaron ?. . . received the gold from the hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf.?

On the rocks were etched ancient drawings of a bull god, as described in Exodus 324, where Aaron ?. . . received the gold from the hand, and he fashioned it with an engraving tool, and made a molded calf.?

MOSES' ALTAR and the 12 PILLARS At the foot of the mountain we found a V-shaped altar, with each arm approximately 60 feet long and 20 feet wide. Next to it were several toppled pillars in sections measuring about 22 inches in diameter and 20 inches in length. Exodus 244 records that Moses ?. . . built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars according to the twelve tribes of Israel.?

SPLIT ROCK AT HOREB (Full credit for verification and documentation of the split rock at Horeb goes to Jim and Penny Caldwell, who conducted their research while living in Saudi Arabia.) One of the most startling discoveries at Jabal al Lawz was a massive, prominent, split rock on the west side of Jabal al Lawz, which showed evidence of gushing water from within - jagged rocks that had been smoothed off by an abundant flow of water. Exodus 176 records God?s instructions to Moses when the Israelites were dying of thirst in the wilderness ?Behold, I will stand before you there on the rock in Horeb; and you shall strike the rock, and water will come out of it, that the people may drink.?

CAVE OF ELIJAH High on the mountain was a cave by which Elijah may have stood to hear God?s voice, as described in 1 Kings 1918b, 13b ?. . . and he went . . . as far as Horeb, the mountain of God . . . . and he went out and stood in the entrance of the cave . . . .?
This expedition yielded the first of a wealth of compelling new evidence, to suggest that the Strait of Tiran on the Gulf of Aqaba was the crossing point for the route of the Exodus, and that Jabal al Lawz in Saudi Arabia is the true Mount Sinai.

My opinion, it's a miracle. No scientific explanation possible.

                  Salaams all,

Allah levelled the mountain upon manifesting Himself to it. After that, that particular mountain was no more!

Sure you can come up with other explanations for those things, but everything recorded in the Bible is right there. Is that the real mount sinai? God knows, but its defenitly the best candidate.

As for the current Mount Sinai in Egypt, that is obviously not the real mount sinai. It has nothing that the bible or Quran mention. It was Emperor Constantines mother who talked to a seer and concluded that that mountain was Mt.Sinai. Helena being the mother of Constantine, who founded that Roman (now Catholic) Church, probably had a lot of influence. She also claimed to have found pieces of the real cross which are now in the vatican. Point being, theres nothing special about the current Mt.Sinai besides the fact that an emperors mother said it was.

I think that there is no miracle in such happening. Either it?s interpreted wrongly or its metaphorical. Every creation is the manifestation of God's existence. Everything happens within the natural law. So I am sure its explainable. If scientist do proper research than I am sure all the puzzles will be solved.

Two words make all the difference

                        from lanes and qd.

                        Aaree=to suppose,or fancy
=to see by reflection or consideration/the seeing with the mind,or mentally.

Anzur=look at ,think over, consider by thought, intellectually or with the mind.

And when came moses at our appointment and spoke to him his lord he said "o my lord show thou(yourself)(that) i may look/think upon you he said will never (be able to)see me/imagine me but look at/think of/concentrate on the mountain if it remains firm in its place then you might see me and when revealed(his)glory his lord to the mountain he made it as dust/as powder/crumble bacame moses unconsious and when he recovered he said glory be to you i return to you in repentance and i am first of the believers.

If you think its right, Good!If otherwise, still Okay.

                            Salaams idm,
i think the translator-original ,being a monk in the 11th centuary (who i now hear from some people was actually sent by the pope to translate the quran- if any have more information regarding this love to see it -thanks) having a firm belief in the bible put all these miracles in the translation ,But there where no miracles as such actually unless any firm believer here can proof it or show me one in the quran which isn't translatable with the aid of a dictioanary. And some of the stories depicted in the quran are from that single source aswell- as i think Allah said somewhere the people wern't aware of such stories before they came to the people from Allah So they couldn't be the exact same stories as the bible in any case and as they are depicted as such so there is something wrong in their translations.

May be i am wrong though - but this is my present view.

                            Gods Blessings.
