What is your understanding of the beginning of the verse 397 ?

In it are clear signs, the standing place of Ibrahim, and whoever enters it shall be secure, and pilgrimage to the House is incumbent upon men for the sake of Allah, (upon) every one who is able to undertake the journey to it; and whoever disbelieves, then surely Allah is Self-sufficient, above any need of the worlds. (by Shakir)"fīhi" = litt. "IN IT" ("it" referring to the word "baytin" in 396?)

The first House could be referred as FEE-HI.. as well it could be referring to Bakka.. Not to leave that option either...To the audience of Quran when it was revealed it was very manifest what is first house and where Bakka is...
but for us it is huge challenge...Strangely when the verse was revealed there was still evidence of Ibrahim... Whatever it is... How they knew that it was Ibrahim's they only know... God guarantees it...
But what makes us to know where this first house and it's location and what that evidence of Ibrahim....Further it says In it SIGNS not singular but three or more...
In current Day Kaaba if that is the ancient house then there is nothing of a sign inside it.. Those who entered knows it well... Billions of people visited Makka but only countable number of people would have entered it... And no one found any sign/s...
For me fee-hee is most likely to be Bakka where the first house and various other symbols of God prevailed... These signs are worth giving respect by those who entered Bakka...it's a blessed place and guidance cultivated there with the presence of messengers of various periods of time. ..
meanwhile I am not against to the conviction that first house refers to Fee-Hee in the verse..
Unless people know where this place is according to Quran there is no point converging to a place... It all had a purpose from the time of Ibrahim to Mohamed...... God's message is completed...
Or by makamu Ibrahim God refers that it was the place of Ibrahim not as a sign.. But loads of signs there when you read haj verseas... Is it? Or Isn't it?
Your subject question of what are the clear signs may never be answered until we know the place....

Pointers of explicit nature are embedded within it (the House) which is exclusive peculiarity of it.
