532 Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption in the land – it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, after that, throughout the land, were transgressors.

It shows people can save people... What could be the reward regardless of faith of anyone? I see doctors working hard to save people ... There are many million people who more or less save another's life without killing them... What's their fate? Do they need to be believers... If mandatory then what could this verse mean? Any thoughts

Yet another statement (among thousands or millions of other statements) which stated the law of reciprocity.
      What goes around comes around.
In eastern traditions also known as karmic law.

"Beliefs", "Religion", "Social Identity" doesn't matter.
The law is applicable to all.

Ancient Judaism is actually among the first / ancient organized religion with prescribed dogma of "Religion" / "Social Identity" matters.
Only jews shall be saved by YHVH because jews are the chosen people of YHVH.
Which then get copied and pasted to Christianity and Islam.
Each claim their group as the only truest chosen people of God.

Jesus, among others, are those who refuted such ridiculous sectarian ideas.
Long before the birth of Christianity and Islam.

He explained the law of reciprocity is applicable to all, your religion / social identity / hereditary / faith / belief doesn't matter.
Forgive if you want to be forgiven, help if you want to be helped, save if you want to be saved.
He also explained using a parable of "Good Samaritans", good deeds are just good deeds regardless of the performer's social identity.
And other conflicts of Jesus ideas vs Judaism dogmas can be thoroughly read in the Gospels.

who is a believer, is it not we believe in God and the religion or ritual has nothing to do with it?, Belief in God is believing the 'Goodness' of this world is a blessed one by the Almighty source. Everyone sects says we have our own way of seeing, naming and thanking God with our own rituals, i think real muslim will not differentiate and has no ego as they fall towards the sacredness(masjid al haram) of God and not any physical thing that defines God. Masjid al haram cannot be single place or building, but our attitude towards Him by reducing our self before Him.

          Peace amin , jafr

I don't know who is believer or not in the whole world.. No need to know... But I am believing in One God who is the Creator of me, sustainer of me and the one who make me die and give another life of His willing...

As we all know the entire World's population doesn't believe in the creation and in one God.. If you have friends of various cultures you would have known from what they say and what they do... Atheism, Confusionism, Deities of their own choice all prevelant and coupled with all types inventions among those who has Books including those who call Muslim christian jews etc..

According to QURAN we cannot equate God with another.... That's basic according to Quran... So it does matter a lot the belief if He is the one we are gonna meet with one day for our salvation...

262 Surely they that believe, and those of Jewry, and the Christians, and those Sabaeans, whoso believes in God and the Last Day, and works righteousness -- their wage awaits them with their Lord, and no fear shall be on them; neither shall they sorrow.

2147 And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.

2301 Indeed Successful are the believers ...

3102 O you who believe! Observe your duty to God with right observance, and die not save as those who have surrendered / Muslim

If you read entire Quran you will find who believers are in the past and who deserves to be believers if they belong to certain acts throughout their life...

I hope above four verses are enough for both of you to ponder what is the fate of disbelievers and who they are...

But my question in my initial thread still remains... What could be the reward for those who literally disbelieve and still save lives spontaneously ...
God is fair... Let's wait and see till the day of ressurection....

            Peace jkhan.
There are at least three ways that people of different paths may look at this

            1. The view that Islam/Christianity/Judaism.... is the only true religion and those who reject it cannot attain salvation except if God wills it;

            2. Moral theism, which holds that salvation awaits all those who believe in God and do good deeds;

            3. Perennialism, the belief that all religions revealed by God are valid paths to truth and salvation.

            Or some will ask this
Do All Good People Go to Heaven?
we can easily substitute ‘good people’ with ‘people we like’ or ‘people close to us’; in short, people in our community.

We can only speculate what GOD does and how GOD will judge. Therefore it is better left to GOD Alone.
“God does not prohibit you from being good and dealing justly with those who have not fought you in your religion or driven you from your homes” (Qoran 60..
I like the following reasoning about how we should adjust our attitude, quote

The rights of a neighbor are that, if he falls sick you visit him, if he dies you follow his funeral procession, if he asks you for a loan you lend to him, if he is in need you assist him, if good befalls him you congratulate him, if misfortune befalls him you console him, that you not build your house up above his, blocking out the breeze, and that you not afflict him with the aroma of your cooking pot without offering him some ...i.e do to your neighbour what you would like done to you.
            .
This should me a moral obligation regardless of the neighbour s affiliation/belief.

We have to trust GOD and trust in GOD that justice will prevail for all.
God will not punish people for not believing in Him or for not following His chosen system if they had no reliable access to the revelation of a prophet if they were good humans.(That is an instinct and everyone learns good from bad through their life experience).

As far as I understand Qoran teaches that All True Paths Lead to the One path of GOD -Sirat Al Mustaqueem- and this can be found in people in all walks of life
            GOD bless you.
            Peace.

I don't get you... What are you trying to say... Is it only for children of Israel...
Below is the previous verse.. It is continuation of killing that also Adam's son...

531 Then Allah sent a crow who scratched the ground to show him to hide the dead body of his brother. He (the murderer) said "Woe to me! Am I not even able to be as this crow and to hide the dead body of my brother?" Then he became one of those who regretted

It's what the verse says. Who are the children of israel ? Because it concerns them

It's what the verse says. Who are the children of israel ? Because it concerns them

492 O you who have believed, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet or be loud to him in speech like the loudness of some of you to others, lest your deeds become worthless while you perceive not

2183 O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous

Just I presented the above two verses to just compare whether can we consider certain things for all believers...

I agree it is literally addressed to children of Israel... But isn't the message common... Can we kill innocent or can't we save lives? What if we save a life, we are not as if we saved all the people in the world... Only children of Israel deserve that...

Above two verses God address " O YOU WHO BELIEVED..... "

Does it address to all time or only to those who were with the Messenger ...
For me it does address to all believers but context of the verse may not affect all but only those who were with Messenger for example 492

If we considered all such phrases o you who believe is only to those with messenger then those who came later as believers will be in great dilemma...
So we have to see what the message is and the context...
All major instructions are addressed to believers and those given scripture and not as O you muttaqun or Muslim....
I don't see a single verse which address "O you who surrendered/ Muslim " unless I blinded myself and forgotten..

Or else you are right that QURAN never address is buy only the contemporary people..
If you take O children of Israel.. Does it mean only the children of the contemporary Israel and not the later or current.
In that case believers also have to be believers of that time..

Then verses like 3181 3183 asking why killed the prophets from contemporary people which they literally not did..

Isn't this Quran for all who came after it was revealed or only for Arabs of that era...

I don't say brother Cerberus that what you say is wrong that it was addressed Israel but it won't make sense for me if we confine it to them exclusively...

Please take a look at what you're comparing...

On one hand you have the recitation of a story that concludes with "because of that we decreed upon the children of Israel...", and on the other hand you bring forth verses that directly give instructions to believers. And from there you ask whether it's talking about believers at that time or of today, and somehow the two connect ????? I understand you want it to say what you wish, but what you're saying is illogical.

How many times did quran specifically single out children of israel ? is it the first time ?

By the way I'm making no point other than to highlight the first part of the verse that is consistently ignored.
