Salam to all,
Did prophet Muhammad sin?
943 God pardon you; why did you give them leave before it became clear to you who are truthful, and who are lying?
481 We have given you a clear conquest.
482 So that God may forgive your present sins, and those past, and so that He may complete His blessings upon you, and guide you on a straight path. Please brothers and sisters explain this verses to me.
God bless all
Peace brother Centi...
Flawless human.. ufff Impossible...
Prophets are human like any other.. At the same same time they were messengers and believers.. The reason every human was created is to test and Messengers are not exempted.. Just coz they were placed with message doesn't mean they don't make mistakes... For me according to Quran all are prone to make mistakes... That is why human are to ask for forgiveness... No one want to ask for forgiveness unless he is free from evil... Do we ask forgiveness in Janna.. I doubt and clear No.. Coz God has forgiven us at the day of judgement.. And from there onwards we are not gonna make mistakes... We only applaud God in Janna. Not we ask for forgiveness.. If we do that's strange ... If there is any verse show me and correct me..
Centi you are a human and how come you think another human doesn't do mistake.. Impossible after getting birth as human..I leave you with this verse to ponder..
1661 " And if Allah were to impose blame on the people for their wrongdoing, He would not have left upon the earth any creature, but He defers them for a specified term. And when their term has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede ."
As other member explained, just ponder on other messengers destiny as well.. All did mistakes.. Even Quran expose OR not sure they would have...Don't you see when Yousuf was tested by the Woman, Yousuf said he may incline to their desire... So naturally he is fallible unless control himself.. And God's mercy as well..
Pls don't differentiate Muhamed with other messengers... If others are, why he is exempted.. For what reason. Is it coz hadith say so? Or you regard him high above others..If Muhamed is never someone who commit mistakes... Then God doesn't need to warn him.. Why to warn someone who is never done mistakes in the past and never expected to make mistakes in the future.. If his life is created to be free from mistakes no need to warn that too with stern warning .
What is the warning? 6944-46
That's in my understanding is mighty warning that almost he would have done unless warned... -

I got what your saying. But is mistake and sin synonymous?
Al-Baqarah 281
281 Bala man kasaba sayyi-atan waahatatbihi khatee-atuhu faola-ika as-h
Yes, whoever earns evil and his sin has encompassed him - those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.
is sayyitan and khatee-atuhu same as sin
Al-Baqarah 2173
He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah . But whoever is forced , neither desiring nor transgressing , there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
Ithm is sin?
Al-Fath 482
That Allah may forgive for you what preceded of your sin and what will follow and complete His favor upon you and guide you to a straight path
Dhunub
Are all these words same meaning dhunub, sayyitan, khath'a and ithim as sins or a mistake.
Is disobeying God a sin or mistake?

Good question... But you got to compare all the verses bro.. Read all verses of all those words occur and comprehend on the context of the verses... Then decide what actually each word usage defines.. And choose best suitable meaning..
I know what they mean for my understanding... And I am fine with it.. Try to get what exactly they mean. ..
For example compare 2458 where junah appears.. So you can understand the magnitude of junah there. Then Likewise compare all and present your view so that others would help you out... And it would make your understanding easy for you..Context of the verse and comparison makes much more meaningful when we need meaning of certain verses in reality..

If he was without sin, then I don't think he would have been on this planet. He would have been in heaven. So I'm confident that he had committed sins at least before he became a prophet. I also think after he became a prophet he strived to increase in sincerity to God. Also, if God pardons someone, it is because that someone did something wrong. You do not pardon someone for not doing something wrong.

Salam all,
The notion that Muhammad is a holy man without sin, I believe is highly influenced by Sunni teaching.
Let's ponder some verses related to the topic.
And He found you lost, and He guided you?
He was lost and then God guided him.
O prophet, why do you make forbidden what God has made permissible for you, seeking to please your wives? God is Forgiver, Merciful.
He made mistake by making forbidden what God has made permissible.
He frowned and turned away.
When the blind one came to him.
And what makes you know, perhaps he is seeking to purify?
Or to remember, so the remembrance will benefit him?
As for the one who was rich.
You were addressing yourself to him.
And why does it concern you that he does not want to purify?
And as for the one who came to you seeking.
While he was concerned.
You were too occupied for him.Reminded due to mistake in behaving differently due to different "class" of people coming to him.
God pardons you; why did you give them leave before it became clear to you who are truthful, and who are lying?
He made mistake by giving permission before it became clear whether it was justified.
And if God were to call the people to account for their transgression, He would not have left on it a single creature. But He delays them to a determined time; so when their time comes, they do not delay by one hour and they do not advance.
Muhammad is also a creature just like us.
Wassalam

Does this verse say that prophet Muhammad had sinned and will sin but God will forgive him.
Or I may understand it incorrectly

The treatement of the story of Salomon in sura 38, verses 31-33, by different translators in history is a good example by representing the final stage of "sinless Prophets” theology that now completely controls Muslim theology.
Solomon is presented with horses in the evening (verse 31). Then the translators disagree on the next verse.
Yusuf Ali (20th century) translates it, “Truly do I love the love of good, with a view to the glory of my Lord.” (http//www.quran4u.com/Tafsiraya/038%20Saad.pdf)Ibn Kathir (14th century) reverses the meaning. “I did love the good instead of remembering my lord.” There then follows a verse about how Solomon patted the horses and that God tried him. This obscurity leads Ibn Kathir into several pages of traditions about Solomon neglecting his evening prayers while admiring the horses and this leads him to slaughter them in repentance. He mixes this with a story of Aisha playing with her toy horse after the Battle of Khaybar or Tabuk. Yusuf Ali’s reverse interpretation begins with the telling statement, “The story is not found in the Old Testament.” His interpretation is the exact opposite of Ibn Kathir “Solomon was also the most meticulous in not allowing the least motive of self to be mixed up with his spiritual virtues.”
Mazhar (21th century) (https//www.haqeeqat.pk/Quran.Corpus-9PartSura38-49.htm) is also disagree with Ibn Kathir but with an another interpreation than Yusuf Ali " I have found the love of benefaction coming from the remembrance of my Sustainer Lord (best activity at this time) until the Sun would have disappeared from sight by the veil of night (verse 32).

Another interpretation of the story of Solomon
Soloman in surah SAAd
3830-40
...
I struggled with the popular explanation of these verses(summary)like
Solomon was devoted to GOD, and once was preoccupied with his horses in the afternoon,he forgot the Asr prayer and when it was too late and the sun gone down, he started to repent, then got rid of his horses by patting them on the necks to say his goodbye!!!Try as I may,I never settled for this because of the following
1-Sun never mentioned.
2-prayer of Asr never mentioned.
3- getting rid of horses never mentioned
The actual Arabic never says these three things. Then contexts ,logic and other meanings possibilities led me to the following explanation( summary of each verse)
3830. Solomon inherited David s kingdom. He was a devotee to GOD Alone.
3831 The cavalierly-horses regiment- was brought to him for checking one afternoon.
3832 He said I like this great gift From GOD to remember Him by doing some good with them. While the cavalierly( disappeared-trial to show him- behind a curtain of dust
38.33 On their return-by his order- he patted each horse in turn- in recognition for their beauty and power?-
3834 We have tried Solomon, on collapsing like a dead body on his chair- from the day of duty to the kingdom- Then by reflecting He repented praying
38 35 He said GOD forgive me- (for not managing properly/not doing justice to the kingdom s responsibility)- and give me a kingdom tailored for me -my capabilities- not others You are the giver /grantor.
3835-40 GOD answered his prayer and helped him manage the kingdom by providing others and materials...etc.God bless.
Peace. -
Another interpretation of the story of Solomon
3832 He said I like this great gift From GOD to remember Him by doing some good with them. While the cavalierly( disappeared-trial to show him- behind a curtain of dustThank you for sharing, but I think your interpretation shows how personal opinions may interfere with a literal understanding of the text, even if it means is changing the original meaning.
1/
First, the key word for the understanding of this passage is the word awwābun of verse (3830) => "one who (repeatedly) turned"Moreover (and this is not a coincidence) this word is found 4 times in its nominal form in Sura 38
(381711) awwābun / repeatedly turning
(38195) awwābun / repeatedly turning
(38307) awwābun / (was) one who repeatedly turned
(384414) awwābun / repeatedly turned
Then, the literal translation of verse (3822) is as followsfaqāla innī aḥbabtu ḥubba l-khayri ʿan dhik'ri rabbī ḥattā tawārat bil-ḥijābi
And he said, "Indeed, I I preferred (the) love (of) the good over (the) remembrance (of) my Lord Until they were hidden in the veil=> Form IV "aḥbabtu + ʿan" = to love better, to prefer.
Conclusion
Bringing all together these elements make the understanding of this text clear
"he preferred the goods of this world, symbolized by the horses, rather than turning to God in the evening (in prayer), as his father David taught him to do (verse 3818-19) in the morning and in the evening".
Verse (3830) links the story of David with that of Solomon.God bless you too.

That is fine.
