    As SAlaam Alaikum,

Hello. Could someone please give me hte Quranic reference in which God speaks of following the traditions of your fathers, and doing things in which he (God) did not ask... I also believe that there is another verse in which God says that he will ask you why you were doing things when he never told you to do things. Do you happen to know what I am talking about?

I'm debating someone about connecting forms of "spirituality" and "respect" to religion when God never mentioned such things... they believe that it's perfectly ok to do these practices becuase they realize that it isn't an obligaiton.... but the mere fact that they are doing things because tehy feel that is a sign of respect towards God or brings some type of "sprituality" is to me enough to cry out "don't do such things".

    salaam

      Hi there!

I think these are the ones you're looking for

      2170
And if they are told "Follow what God has sent down," they Say "No, we will follow what we found our fathers doing!" What if their fathers did not understand anything and were not guided?

      728
And if they commit evil acts, they Say "We found our fathers doing such, and God ordered us to it." Say "God does not order evil! Do you say about God what you do not know?"
