Interesting that sunnis pray at sunset (maghrib) and break their fast after sunset but also pray the night prayer (isha) like hour or hour and a half after sunset. But when it says fast until the night they don't fast until Isha prayer but only until maghrib. Very inconsistent.

To be fair Quran doesn't say "fast until isha", so for them it will depend upon if they consider any difference between when layl begins and when isha begins. If they consider them equivalent then they will be inconsistent.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

The discussion didn't last long because they said night is an hour after sunset which is when isha is, so they knew they were being inconsistent and banned me.

Well... You a very ambiguous person when you are adament on your view...
You say to be fair Quran doesn't say "fast until Isha".. So I remind you to be fair "Quran didn't say fast ila/ to sunset'...
So for you fastbreak when sun set is right though it is not mentioned.. But it depends for them and mentioning about consistency....
Well Waqas.. Question is when Isha start for you? If I am not mistaken with my memory, Isha starts for you with Sunset.. Isn't it? So Lail start at sunset and isha start at sunset and breakfast start at sunset.. Wow what consistency...
So Guribath shams is literally isha and Guribath shams is night as well.. How come isha is super fast when just sun dissapears?

Matter is clear.. Both of you I mean Waqas and sunni same track.. They both breakfast at sunset avoiding what Quran says Ila Lail.. But brave enough to say "to be fair Quran didn't say fast until Isha" ... Did Quran say fast until sunset? Where is your fairness?

I don't expect an answer from you.. Anyway.. You will never grasp with your negligence of clarity of Quran...
Strange thing is people are very quick to point out mistakes of Sunni's but it doesn't digest when Quran alone people's mistakes are pointed out..

Okay.. Be happy with night begining at sunset end at sunrise.. It is a subject each individuals should self perceive with signs of God and Quran verse... Can't help..

jkhan, what is the point in saying all that when you can simply add credibility to your position by answering the simple grammar question I asked you.

Is it because you have absolutely no evidence for your claim? What is perhaps worrying (for you) is that you claim it is so clear yet have absolutely no evidence for your position on the grammar issue.

I'm only interested in evidence-based discussion.

And as for the magical word "sunset" being specific enough to be incorporated in the command "fast until X" you can enjoy the specificity here

So, I have missed your concern..
Let’s put it this way with more clarity… let all those who know the best Arabic grammar reply..
Chapter 91 first verse contains two parts.. One is Shams/ SUN and the other is Dhuha / Radiance/Glory/Light etc..
Now let’s skip Radiance / Dhuha from the verse and continue the following verses i.e. 912 onwards… How in Arabic they write? No difference.. I presume..
                Like…
                Wa’shmsi
                Wal Kamari izha thala HA
Wannahari izha jalla HA… and verses goes on..
Why? coz Shams / Sun is feminine so applying HA to refer is fine..
BUT… what is the grammar rule when FEMININE and MASCULINE are together in the FIRST and following verses refer BOTH… as in real verses of chapter 91… Wa’shamsi Wa’duhaha

                For example …..
…. By Girl and her Radiant Face.. (I hope Girl is feminine and Face is masculine in Arabic).. But Girl and her Face is One
….. By those who followed her ….
…. By heavy crowd which made disappear her…

How would in Arabic they make sentence for above two verses…
Or else take any similar verses like of chapter 91 which involve in first verse feminine and masculine together.. (SUN + RADIANCE)..

I don’t like to waste time specially to you, coz I have experienced with you once I reply you say either I didn’t read all or I skimmed or rest what you have written is garbage… for such attitude I have no time to waste..
                Take it or leave it..

Depending on which region in the world you live, the hours of fast can vary drastically and the way which “to night” is interpreted can vary.

Of course, everyone wants to get it right so naturally people can be fastidious. Ultimately, I think intention plays an important part.

I remember spending time in the northern hemisphere and I did a fast during summer. If I was to break my fast in pitch black darkness, every fast would have been broken after 11pm with a few hours before the next fast to begin. Living with little responsibilities was doable, not exactly enjoyable but could do... Factor in someone who has a family, or a high demanding job or more responsibilities, things just get more complicated.

I believe God to be compassionate.

Another thing to consider is in verse 2187 along the lines of, eat and drink until you see the white line against the blackness of night. So you can see the first light of dawn and that’s the start of the fast. If the opposite is applied at night, the naked eye can still see some light when the sun has set.. in twilight, even in dusk (depending again where in the world you are), it’s still night.

Yes Sister.. When we involve norther hemisphere things may not look identical to what God explains.. First of all what is explained is to the people of Quran people of Muhamed... And they most probably lived somewhere in the Middle East... God knows best.. And sunset and sunrise to moat of the parts of the world where human density is there is no much different.. You can see clear difference at dawn with lights spearing and at the dusk same.. Let's keep hemispheres away to grasp what God's meant by verses..
Day or night naturally the one which overpowers the other is.. If darkness overpowers the light it is night.. If light overpowers darkness it day.. That's so natural.. God never said to pitch darkness of night to fast.. But Ila lail.. To Night..
When to fast is different topic.. Even you fast in summer or spring or autumn in northern hemisphere... Northern hemisphere is not solution... It may sound weird.. But it is true.. Sometimes if you go to northern hemisphere, you may not even find sun set, so you have sign in alternation of night and day... So you won't get that there.. Buy people do live there still.. That's the point.. For them not only fasting many a thing may differ..
