After listening to all I just need to ask a question wether CHICKEN is HALAAL?

Can any one get me a single verse from AlQuraan mentioning that Chicken or Birds are Halaal?

If god tells you not to eat specific things, you can eat the rest.

    The first criterion

    He has forbidden you only
    1 Al-Maytatah (meat of a dead animal),
    2 blood,
3 the flesh of swine, and
4 any animal which is slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than All?h.
But if one is forced by necessity, without willful disobedience, and not transgressing, then, All?h is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (16112-116)

After we meet the above criterion we don?t need to worry about anything else. If we do we are innovating.

        Salaamun Alaikum,
Dear brothers and sisters in Islam,

If god tells you not to eat specific things, you can eat the rest.

        The first criterion

        He has forbidden you only
        1 Al-Maytatah (meat of a dead animal),
        2 blood,
3 the flesh of swine, and
4 any animal which is slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than All?h.
But if one is forced by necessity, without willful disobedience, and not transgressing, then, All?h is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (16112-116)

After we meet the above criterion we don?t need to worry about anything else. If we do we are innovating.

I agree with the verses you have quoted above. But "If we do we are innovating" part I don't agree with.

There are something more we have to understand brother.

What do you think about ".... UHILLAT lakum Baheematul-An'aami....." 51

What is the meaning of mentioning here Uhillat lakum. If forbidden things are mentioned? And also "Alyawma UHILLA lakumut-tayyibaatu....." 55

Remember! Lakum means "for you" is mentioned in both the verses.

And also what means "wa laa ta' kuloo mimma lam yuzkarismu-Allahi 'alaihi wa innaho lafisq........." 6121

        Please read it from 6118 - 6121

        And what about 16116?
        "wa laa taqooloo lima tasifu alsinatukumul-kaziba HAADZAA HALAALUN-WA HAADZAA HARAAMUN-litaftaroo 'al-Allahil-kadziba....." 16116

So that means there is no innovation brother and if you would like to see in more detail... please see the following verses about what is lawful or preferred for you....

        3635 - fruits
        2319 - fruits

        3227 - field
        1024 - field

        1614 - sea food
        3512 - sea food

        165 - cattles
        2321 - cattles
        4079 - cattles

Just to quote the few... Allah has clearly mentioned about every thing that is made lawful and unlawful for us as well as mentioned about preferred foods and non-preferrable foods for us.

But, I don't find chicken or birds.

If anyone knows any verse about it, please do share with us.

May Allah guide us all towards the truth.

        Regards,

        MMKhan

          Peace,

I had an interesting idea about this. A lot of people talk about halal and haram meat, the traditionalists make it compulsory to use certain methods of killing or ending an animals life, and also make sure certain things are uttered in Arabic. I personally think this is exactly what teh Quran prohibits, they try to satisfy their Gods (Hadithists) by making these additional requirements necessary whereas the Quran does not mentions specific methods, but gives us boundaries.

Food is very important and arguably the traditionalists food could be considerd haram as they are dedicated to other than God. But I don't take it TOO SERIOUSLY as there is nto much we can do and God tells us that we shouldn't worry too much and also that we are not responsible for what is eaten in the houses of family, relatives and friends.

Peace- just my own thoughts. Feel free to criticise.

Thank you for your reply brother. Respect. First allow me to open out that I am not conversant in arabic. I am Sri Lankan and from a Sunni family where all we learn was to read the Quran in Arabic.

But I have studied all the Quran translations I can get hold of. Please allow me to print here some findings. THis is from the free minds QT. And please correct me.

So that means there is no innovation brother and if you would like to see in more detail... please see the following verses about what is lawful or preferred for you....

The Quran teaches that God is extremely displeased with those who prohibit anything that was not specifically prohibited in the Quran.

            Surah 16
            112. And God cites the example of a town which was peaceful and content, its provisions were coming to it bountifully from all places, but then it rebelled against God?s blessings and God made it taste hunger and fear for what they used to do.
            113. And a messenger came to them from themselves, but they denied him, so the punishment took them while they were wicked.
            114. So eat from what God has provided for you, that which is good and lawful, and thank the blessings of God, if it is indeed He whom you serve.
            115. He only made forbidden for you what is already dead, and blood, and the meat of pig, and what was sacrificed to any other than God. But whoever is forced to, without disobedience or transgression, then God is Forgiving, Merciful.
            116. And do not say regarding what your tongues describe with lies ?This is lawful and that is forbidden;? that you seek to invent lies about God. Those who invent lies about God will not succeed.

            Also read 6142-152

The Quran clearly and very specifically prohibits four meats (2173, 53, 6142-145, and 16112)

Say, "I do not find in what was revealed to me anything prohibited for any eater unless it is (1) carrion, (2) running blood, (3) the meat of pigs, for it is unclean, and (4) meat blasphemously dedicated to other than God." If one is forced to eat these without being malicious or deliberate, then your Lord is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

Check the definition of innovation at this link.
            http//thesaurus.reference.com/search?q=innovation

addition, alteration, contraption, cutting edge, departure, deviation, in thing, introduction, last word, latest thing, latest wrinkle, leading edge, modernism, modernization, modification, mutation, new wrinkle, newfangled idea, newness, notion, novelty, permutation, shift, variation, vicissitude, what's happening, wrinkle

What I mean here is God has given us rulings against a certain thing. The quran is the only communication that we can trust to take a ruling associated with religion as It is the only book god promises integrity and Submission is the only religion. We just dont have what it takes to add anything to that law. Be it food or anything else. It is like rediculing god. I hope you see my point. This is the reason I freed my self form traditional hadithism.

            1. He has only forbidden for you what is already dead, and the blood, and the meat of pig, and what was dedicated to other than God. Whoever finds himself forced out of need and without disobedience or animosity, then there is no sin upon him. God is Forgiving, Merciful.

53 Forbidden to you is that which is already dead, and the blood, and the meat of pig, and what was sacrificed to other than God, and that which has been strangled, and that which has been beaten to death, and that which has fallen from a height, and that which has been gored, and that which the wild animals have eaten from except what you managed to rescue, and what has been slaughtered on alters, and what you divide by the arrows of chance. This is all vile. Today the rejecters have given up from your system, so do not fear them, but fear Me. Today I have perfected your system for you, and completed My blessings upon you, and I have accepted surrender as the system for you. So, whoever is forced by severe hunger and not seeking sin, then God is Forgiving, Merciful.

            THis clearly shows an invention.
            6138-140

            1. And they said ?These are livestock and crops that are restricted, and none shall eat from them except as we please,? by their claims; and livestock whose backs are forbidden, and livestock over which they do not mention God?s name as invention against Him. He will recompense them for what they invented.
            2. And they said ?What is in the bellies of these livestock is purely for our males and forbidden for our wives, and if comes out dead, then they will be partners in it.? God will recompense them for what they describe. He is Wise, Knowledgeable.
            3. Losers are those who have killed their unborn children foolishly, without knowledge, and they forbade what God had granted them by lying about God. They have strayed and they were not guided.

            Peace brother

            Shohorab

              Peace Shohorab,

I don't know if you sent the reply to me or not, but I agree that teh Quran prohibits the meats outlined in the verses regarding this topic. I was just shedding light on the fact taht a lot of muslims make some laws and methods based on hadith and therefore they could be dedicating their food to false gods.

Wouldn't electricuting them be kind of like a violent blow? From what I understand its a big blow to the brain using electricity, so then that meat would be haram wouldn't it?

Hmm in that case it could be classified as being gored or being killed by a beating no? Then I guess most beef over here would be haram. I never noticed that.

I wonder why you think electrocution equals gored/beaten...

They're different acts you know. Clubbing a cow to death means applying physical pressure that damages its organs. Stunning it means using an electric current to shock it to death.

If we review the forbidden slaughtering methods (strangling, beating, pushing off heights, goring) IMO they have a similarity. All these methods don't kill the animal quickly (with the exception of pushing the cow over a cliff... but I guess the poor thing would be hard to retrieve?).
Traditional 'halal' slaughtering emphasizes killing the animal as quickly as possible, probably to reduce their suffering.

But if you are still in doubt, then just avoid beef, lamb, and poultry. You could still eat plants, fungi, seafood, and other things.

                          Peace,

Electricution can arguably be a bad method and it is a method where the animal is kind of harmed and shocked for a while. Some also see slaughtering an animal as inhuman, personally I can't decide which one is worse!

This is a difficult topic and God tells us to CONCENTRATE on doing good deeds rather than worrying about the food we eat.

I don't think anyone will tell you the answer to your question, it is quite simple, if you follow the Book there are categories of food we are not allowed and there are also other information saying that this is not as important as other things although prohibiting food is serious.

The way you ask that question might make some people feel like a Sunni Scholar! Plus it's vague, different restaurant serve different things. If you want to eat it you can, you have that freedom nobody is gna shoot you or stop u! Trust me on this, I DOUBT that you'll burn in hell for eating meats especially if you had no bad intentions!

                                  Salaamun Alaikum,
Dear brothers and sisters in Islam,

The Quran teaches that God is extremely displeased with those who prohibit anything that was not specifically prohibited in the Quran.

                                  Surah 16
                                  112. And God cites the example of a town which was peaceful and content, its provisions were coming to it bountifully from all places, but then it rebelled against God?s blessings and God made it taste hunger and fear for what they used to do.

Brother, I agree with you 100%.

But the most important thing to understand in the verses you have quoted is "He only made forbidden for you what is already dead, and blood, and the meat of pig, and what was sacrificed to any other than God". What is this all refering to? And please look at the following verses also

"So eat from that on which Allah's name has been mentioned, if you indeed believe in His revelations" 6118

"And do not eat from that which Allah's name has not been mentioned, for it is vile. And the devils they inspire their supporters to argue with you; and if you obey them, then you have set up partners" 6121

Is the above mentioned verses refering to anything that you eat? No. But it is refering ONLY to "Meat".

Because you may not find any verse saying that Allah's name must be taken on or before eating fruits, vegetables, etc... Except the one said about meat in the following

"And the plump animals for offering, We have made them for you as decrees from Allah, in them is goodness for you. So mention Allah's name upon them while being orderly, so once their body becomes still, then eat from them and give food to the poor and the needy. It was thus that We have made them in service to you, that you may be thankful." 2236

You may not find any other verse saying in such a way about fruits, vegetables or any other eatable items as per my knowledge. Any anyone find some of such verses may please mention in here.

The Quran clearly and very specifically prohibits four meats (2173, 53, 6142-145, and 16112)

Say, "I do not find in what was revealed to me anything prohibited for any eater unless it is (1) carrion, (2) running blood, (3) the meat of pigs, for it is unclean, and (4) meat blasphemously dedicated to other than God." If one is forced to eat these without being malicious or deliberate, then your Lord is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

addition, alteration, contraption, cutting edge, departure, deviation, in thing, introduction, last word, latest thing, latest wrinkle, leading edge, modernism, modernization, modification, mutation, new wrinkle, newfangled idea, newness, notion, novelty, permutation, shift, variation, vicissitude, what's happening, wrinkle

See brother, you have said above "The Quran clearly and very specifically prohibits four meats (2173, 53, 6142-145, and 16112)" that all are just refering to "Meat" only.

Now the question is, what meats are halaal or preferable? Your understanding lead us to eat "Rat", "Cat", "Tiger", "Snake", "Cockroches", "Dog", etc.. when we take Allah's name upon them. Am I right? If so, then what means

                                  ".... Uhillat lakum baheematul-an'aami......" 51

What means Baheematul An'aam? Is it refering to all the animals? Please check. When every thing is mentioned clearly about fruits, vegetables, grains, MEAT, etc... then do you find any verse about chicken or birds are my question?

I don't find any verse mentioned about birds or chicken. If any one finds so, please do mention it.

May Allah guide us all towards the truth.

                                  Regards,

There are two extremes a human can do with his free will.

Eat all kinds of meat (Incl. roaches, rodents, swine, etc) and the other is not eat any at all. I agree with you brother MM khan. You are right. I am just trying to point out that God gives us room to decide with four exeptions. Rest of it you decide. The quran also does not say that you are allowed to be a vegetarian. Does that mean we cant?

Please also research this and tell me.

I do not believe this means you have to mention Gods name at the time of slaughter. It is at the time of eating. It could also mean that you have mention gods name at some point before eating it.

See. God has clearly given what is prohibited but has not really defined what is allowed as a list. Does this mean that you cannot eat anything that is not mentioned as you say in the Quran? Like Chicken for example?

Dear brothers and sisters in Islam,

                                        Peace brother M.M. Khan,

Peace be on you too (sister?)

                                        Thank you for the reference.

Yea.. But there is "BUT" as a reward in Paradise. Thats why I exclude that. As (wine?) in Paradise.

                                          Salaamun Alaikum,
Dear brothers and sisters in Islam,

I do not believe this means you have to mention Gods name at the time of slaughter. It is at the time of eating. It could also mean that you have mention gods name at some point before eating it.

Please explain your stand with a reference or quote from AlQuraan.

See. God has clearly given what is prohibited but has not really defined what is allowed as a list. Does this mean that you cannot eat anything that is not mentioned as you say in the Quran? Like Chicken for example?

When Allah has clearly mentioned what is halaal for you as

                                          "...uhillat lakum baheematul an'aam....." 51

What means that? As you said when Allah has clearly given what is prohibited and also halaal (as quoted above) that defines what is not halaal... Isn't it? Please correct me if I am wrong.

May Allah guide us all towards the correct path.

                                          Regards,
