    Peace All,

Is eating meat worth all the hassle? Can't humans live without meat?

Because I feel sorry for the cattle.

Of course we can. Go ahead if you want to.

      Salaamun Alaikum,
Dear brothers and sisters in Islam,

The Quran teaches that God is extremely displeased with those who prohibit anything that was not specifically prohibited in the Quran.

      Surah 16
      112. And God cites the example of a town which was peaceful and content, its provisions were coming to it bountifully from all places, but then it rebelled against God?s blessings and God made it taste hunger and fear for what they used to do.
      113. And a messenger came to them from themselves, but they denied him, so the punishment took them while they were wicked.
      114. So eat from what God has provided for you, that which is good and lawful, and thank the blessings of God, if it is indeed He whom you serve.
      115. He only made forbidden for you what is already dead, and blood, and the meat of pig, and what was sacrificed to any other than God. But whoever is forced to, without disobedience or transgression, then God is Forgiving, Merciful.
      116. And do not say regarding what your tongues describe with lies ?This is lawful and that is forbidden;? that you seek to invent lies about God. Those who invent lies about God will not succeed.

      Also read 6142-152

Brother, I agree with you 100%.

But the most important thing to understand in the verses you have quoted is "He only made forbidden for you what is already dead, and blood, and the meat of pig, and what was sacrificed to any other than God". What is this all refering to? And please look at the following verses also

"So eat from that on which Allah's name has been mentioned, if you indeed believe in His revelations" 6118

"And do not eat from that which Allah's name has not been mentioned, for it is vile. And the devils they inspire their supporters to argue with you; and if you obey them, then you have set up partners" 6121

Is the above mentioned verses refering to anything that you eat? No. But it is refering ONLY to "Meat".

Because you may not find any verse saying that Allah's name must be taken on or before eating fruits, vegetables, etc... Except the one said about meat in the following

"And the plump animals for offering, We have made them for you as decrees from Allah, in them is goodness for you. So mention Allah's name upon them while being orderly, so once their body becomes still, then eat from them and give food to the poor and the needy. It was thus that We have made them in service to you, that you may be thankful." 2236

You may not find any other verse saying in such a way about fruits, vegetables or any other eatable items as per my knowledge. Any anyone find some of such verses may please mention in here.

The Quran clearly and very specifically prohibits four meats (2173, 53, 6142-145, and 16112)

Say, "I do not find in what was revealed to me anything prohibited for any eater unless it is (1) carrion, (2) running blood, (3) the meat of pigs, for it is unclean, and (4) meat blasphemously dedicated to other than God." If one is forced to eat these without being malicious or deliberate, then your Lord is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

Check the definition of innovation at this link.
      http//thesaurus.reference.com/search?q=innovation

addition, alteration, contraption, cutting edge, departure, deviation, in thing, introduction, last word, latest thing, latest wrinkle, leading edge, modernism, modernization, modification, mutation, new wrinkle, newfangled idea, newness, notion, novelty, permutation, shift, variation, vicissitude, what's happening, wrinkle

What I mean here is God has given us rulings against a certain thing. The quran is the only communication that we can trust to take a ruling associated with religion as It is the only book god promises integrity and Submission is the only religion. We just dont have what it takes to add anything to that law. Be it food or anything else. It is like rediculing god. I hope you see my point. This is the reason I freed my self form traditional hadithism.

      1. He has only forbidden for you what is already dead, and the blood, and the meat of pig, and what was dedicated to other than God. Whoever finds himself forced out of need and without disobedience or animosity, then there is no sin upon him. God is Forgiving, Merciful.

53 Forbidden to you is that which is already dead, and the blood, and the meat of pig, and what was sacrificed to other than God, and that which has been strangled, and that which has been beaten to death, and that which has fallen from a height, and that which has been gored, and that which the wild animals have eaten from except what you managed to rescue, and what has been slaughtered on alters, and what you divide by the arrows of chance. This is all vile. Today the rejecters have given up from your system, so do not fear them, but fear Me. Today I have perfected your system for you, and completed My blessings upon you, and I have accepted surrender as the system for you. So, whoever is forced by severe hunger and not seeking sin, then God is Forgiving, Merciful.

See brother, you have said above "The Quran clearly and very specifically prohibits four meats (2173, 53, 6142-145, and 16112)" that all are just refering to "Meat" only.

Now the question is, what meats are halaal or preferable? Your understanding lead us to eat "Rat", "Cat", "Tiger", "Snake", "Cockroches", "Dog", etc.. when we take Allah's name upon them. Am I right? If so, then what means

      ".... Uhillat lakum baheematul-an'aami......" 51

What means Baheematul An'aam? Is it refering to all the animals? Please check. When every thing is mentioned clearly about fruits, vegetables, grains, MEAT, etc... then do you find any verse about chicken or birds are my question?

I don't find any verse mentioned about birds or chicken. If any one finds so, please do mention it.

May Allah guide us all towards the truth.

      Regards,

      MMKhan

There are two extremes a human can do with his free will.

Eat all kinds of meat (Incl. roaches, rodents, swine, etc) and the other is not eat any at all. I agree with you brother MM khan. You are right. I am just trying to point out that God gives us room to decide with four exeptions. Rest of it you decide. The quran also does not say that you are allowed to be a vegetarian. Does that mean we cant?

Please also research this and tell me.

I do not believe this means you have to mention Gods name at the time of slaughter. It is at the time of eating. It could also mean that you have mention gods name at some point before eating it.

See. God has clearly given what is prohibited but has not really defined what is allowed as a list. Does this mean that you cannot eat anything that is not mentioned as you say in the Quran? Like Chicken for example?

            Thank you for the reference.

Yea.. But there is "BUT" as a reward in Paradise. Thats why I exclude that. As (wine?) in Paradise.

Please explain your stand with a reference or quote from AlQuraan.

                Peace,

Just remeber GOD when your enjoying the blessing, even if you think it GOD will know.

Also just because something is not mentioned doesn't mean you can't do it or can, logic should be used. Some things are common sense, if someone wants to be a vegeterian then let them, it's within their right.

Do you need for it to give you details of everything?! Do you have to be told which foot you must step into your house with?! this is just getting quite silly! A man is not a sheep, a man/woman has their own brain and initiative, you are not a robot that is to be programmed, there is more beauty than that in God's Creations.

                  Greetings MMKhan,

You should also ask if anyone can get you a single verse from AlQuraan mentioning that Chicken or Birds are Haraam?

Or better yet, can anyone get a single verse mentioning that Internet is Halaal or Haraam?!

It's crazy world we live in!

O ye who believe! fulfil (all) obligations. Lawful unto you (for food) are all four-footed animals, with the exceptions named But animals of the chase are forbidden while ye are in the sacred precincts or in pilgrim garb for Allah doth command according to His will and plan.

Oops ? Lawful unto you (for food) are all four-footed animals

How did you get this translation brother? All four-footed animals means Cat, Rat, Dog, Tiger, etc... (but still no birds or chicken) are lawful?

Please correct the translation. Translation you have quoted is wrong.

"Made lawful for you are all the animals of the livestock, except that which is being recited to you, and what you are not allowed to hunt of the game while you are under restriction. Allah decrees as He pleases." 51 (Translation from Free-Minds.org)

Lets see the real translation of the word "An-'aam".

"The example of the worldly life is like a water which has come down from the sky, so it mixed with the plants of the Earth from what mankind and the livestock(an'aamu) eat. Then the Earth takes its shape and becomes beautiful and its inhabitants think that they have mastered it; then Our judgment comes by night or by day, so We make it a wasteland as if it never prospered by the yesterday! It is such that We clarify the revelations to a people who think." 524

"Have they not seen that We drive the water to the barren lands, and produce with it crops to feed their livestock (an'aamuhum), as well as themselves? Do they not see?" 3228

I hope you understand the meaning of An'aam brother.

Now lets go to another question

"He created you from one person, then He made from it its mate. And He sent down to you eight pairs of the livestock(al-an'aami). He creates you in the wombs of your mothers, a creation after a creation in three darkness's. Such is Allah your Lord. To Him belongs the sovereignty. There is no god besides Him. How is it then you deviate?" 396

It says "LAKUM" that means "FOR YOU". Why only 8 pairs FOR US? What does this means?

May Allah guide us all towards the correct path.

                        Regards,

                        MMKhan

It seems mmkhan has a point. After reading the verses regarding food again, I have reached the conclusion that we are allowed to eat the following

                                1. The paired eight of ''baheemat el an3am'' which include
                                  -Male and Female Goat
                                  -Male and Female Sheep
                                  -Male and Female Cattle
                                  -Male and Female Camels
Excluding the blood, the dead and what is slaughtered for other than God. The male and female pig are forbidden.
                                2. All seafood.
                                3. All what the land produces ie grains, vegetables and fruits.
All the rest (inluding all birds) are forbidden!

But what about eggs?! ??? Now I have to eat camel with milk for breakfast laugh

                                Peace,

                                Rami

A Birthday cake is a food item dedicated to a person and the cake is specially made to celebrate an occasion of birth and it has the name of the birthday person so what would make it not harm as its has clearly name of other then God written on it.
                                  hmm

and that over which (instead of mentioning the name of Allah, 6119,122, the name of) any other than Allah has been invoked (while slaughtering it, including those sacrificed for idol, 53, since by devouring such meat the spiritual side is affected, Acts 1529). But whoever is constrained (and eats of the forbidden food under compelling circumstances), without being disobedient (to His instructions) nor exceeding the limit (of dire necessity), no sin be upon him then. Allah is certainly most Forgiving (of the defaulters), most Rewarding (of the obedient).
Allah knows your innermost he knows that your intention so therefore birth day cake is not haram.

                                        Salaam,

The birthday cake issue can be looked at in the following way-

                                        • There is a difference between making something for a person and dedicating it in a religious sense. In reality if you do not make this distinction, you can't eat anything a person cooks for you.

                                        • When eating, you always remember the name of Allah in gratitude.

The point here is if you suspect that the person who makes the cake somehow worships you and dedicates the cake to you in some religious sense (like for example food a hindu may make for their religious festivals dedicated to one of their idols), then it is haram. However if someone is just making a cake, or any food for a person or group of people, we have no basis to say it is haram.

Please let me know if this makes sense to you.

                                        salaam

You are putting the explanations in the brackets, I may appear fanatical but if you do not put your own understanding in the brackets then a birthday cake comes under harm food,
He has only forbidden for you what is already dead, and the blood, and the meat of pig, and what was dedicated to other than God. Whoever finds himself forced out of need and without disobedience or animosity, then there is no sin upon him. God is Forgiving, Merciful

                                          Salaam,

I know exactly what you are saying birthday cakes have become such an integral part of parties that no one would like to think twice. I too can take a modern logical approach but religious or not that is not the issue, I am simply looking at the red highlighted part of 2173 which clearly forbids any food dedicated to other then Allah and unlike rest of the party foods birthday cakes are definitely dedicated to a person's birth especially with the name of person written on it, yes
