Do they change/distort the Quran in any way?

      Salam

Diacritical marks were added for non-Arabs

      It is said that.

The Arabs did not require the vowel signs and diacritical marks for correct pronunciation of the Qur?an since it was their mother tongue. For Muslims of non-Arab origin, however, it was difficult to recite the Qur?an correctly without the vowels. These marks were introduced into the Quranic script during the time of the fifth ?Umayyad? Caliph, Malik-ar-Marwan (66-86 Hijri/685-705 C.E.) and during the governorship of Al-Hajaj in Iraq.

Some people argue that the present copy of the Qur?an that we have along with the vowels and the diacritical marks is not the same original Qur?an that was present at the Prophet?s time. But they fail to realize that the word ?Qur?an? means a recitation. Therefore, the preservation of the recitation of the Qur?an is important, irrespective of whether the script is different or whether it contains vowels. If the pronunciation and the Arabic is the same, naturally, the meaning remains the same too

      Peace

        Peace HNF,

Do they change/distort the Quran in any way?

        Salam

Anyone can change any book even if it written on an untouchable tablet in the sky by messing with interpretation/meaning while the true Qur'an is in reality within each individual and can not be distorted once "seen" or made clear by whom God wills it so.

As for the physical book there are many all over the internet with varying transcriptions and nothing in the early manuscripts; no verse numbers or hamza even which were added later to help reference particular verses and to aid in proper recital the main preservation method and delivery mechanism...

        The Uthman Qur'an, Kufic script, 7th Century, Sura 7 (Ala'araf), verses 86 & 87
        786

Qur'an 1st/2nd centuries; Chaper 60 part of verse 4 to 8 and part of 9

        http//i49.tinypic.com/2rw3mro.jpg

Hamza alone, above/under alif, alif hamza, ya hamza, wa hamza dots added later including to distinguish letters.

Old Qur'an copying date 1st/2nd centuries Surah Yusuf
Verses From verse 120 of Surah Hud to verse 3 from Surah Yusuf and part from 4

Notice Al-Qur'na was written. The marks are important to distinguish between words transcribed from the vocal spelled often times alike yet have differences separate meanings; E.g.

        Woman/wife of...
6610 araba Allhu Mathalan Lilladhna Kafar Aimra'ata Nin Wa Aimra'ata Lin Knat Tata Abdayni Min Ibdin liayni Fakhnathum Falam Yughniy Anhum Mina Allhi Shay'an Wa Qla Adkhul An-Nra Maa Ad-Dkhilna

        Woman/descendant of...
335 'Idh Qlati Amra'atu Imrna 289 Wa Qlat Amra'atu Firawna
And said a woman/daughter of Pharaoh "A comfort of the eye for me and for you...

To give another example usually same spelling yet completely different meaning and recital...

        411 Lildhdhakari (to the male/masculine)

        5417 Lildhdhikri (to the remembrance)

The Quran was intentionally written in "dotless" rasm because it was readable only by viewing it. A language which our conscious can read and decode but we are used to neglect that language.

@TellMeTheTruth Salam bro. Verse 2:54 we see God telling Bani Israel to kill each other. I can't imagine God can tell people to go on a rampage just like Israel on Amalakites. God does not order people to be immoral. God does not force or tell us to kill people who refused to worship him. He has that authority are his subject he is free to punish it. What is your take. My take is God telling us to kill our ego instead

            God bless

@centi50s Salam brother! You are right to question that. The root q-t-l is not always about killing or fighting. It is a surface-level meaning. Original meaning is to overcome something masterfully or close a matter so that it doesn't rise again. Peace

Where did you get this meaning from, bro? I would love to see this meaning.

                  God bless you
