The Mental/Spiritual Fight
-
Peace be upon you,
"fighting" is certainly prescribed for us, yet most of us have a fear of it.
Zenje, your speaking out on the radio is the type of thing we need, but we need more of it from myself and the rest of us as well.
We have to steo up the "fight", not a physical fight with weapons and the like, but a mental/spiritual fight. We have to increase the light in the world.Peace brother,
I agree, I think we have some brilliant minds among us, yet we're mute when it comes to spreading this light unto the world. There is so much potential, and so many willing to listen right now especially with the state of affairs going on in the world right now. It's a shame we're keeping this to ourselves.
There's local and international Radio/TV/Magazines/Newspapers... if CNN can do a piece on sunnis against terrorism, we can definitely do better.
For those who haven't seen this thread - TO BE OR NOT TO BE... ON 60 MINUTES - check it out, and maybe you can add some ideas here.
Peace )

Peace be upon you,
SInce the other threads last post was 2004, I will continue here.
I think 60 minutes or ANY outlet wouyld be great, but we have to come to some agreements on certain topics, that is what is holding us back. We have to really study harder and make the connections.
I think the first step should just be passing out of flyers or small articles that we can agree on, like the issue of false hadith being used to explain the God's Hadith(this reading).
We need well reasoned arguments, then maybe at the bottom invite people to debate on the forum (i hope theres enough room and patience for that D )
But in conclusion, we have to find ways to invite to debate. I dont think we should go out on 60 minutes until we can agree on the topics that "they" will certainly attack "salaat, hajj, ramadhan, etc" if we step out like a sandy cliff instead of a firm foundation....well you know how that ends.

the whole problem is exactly that - AGREEING. And what I mean is not agreeing on what is rejected, but agreeing on what is accepted and believed.
I think many users here can agree on what they reject but cannot agree on what they actually believe in. And this ain't just about the 'pillars' either it even goes beyond that.
I think most will criticise a form of 'doctrine' in favour of 'freethinking' but you must remember this - doctrine does at least bring unity for the most part, whereas freethinking, for all of its virtues does actually lead to disparity.
That is why such organizations as the 'church', 'Islam', 'orthodoxy' or whatever you call it had the 'officialist' set of principles - to being unity about. I think to achieve anything realistically, this is gonna be needed somewhere down the line.
Don't misunderstand that though dudes oops

Peace all,
I think many users here can agree on what they reject...
Isn't that enough as a starting point? Or a point to go forth? We can sit for the rest of our lives and several generations after, and we will still have some differences. I believe that's our forte. Thats what makes each and every one of us, unique, yet the same. What we agree on, is the only message that we need to spread.
We're not here to guide anyone. We're not here to answer all questions or issue fatwas. We're NOT an organized religion. So why do we have to be one, before we go out and tell others of the way to the truth?
Serving the God is an individual relationship. We will all answer for only ourselves on the day of judgement. Or are we to hoard all this to ourselves?

Interesting to se that you are talking in terms of 'we'. Anyhoo, if you're aim is to be a forum for discussion thats fine, but you wrote of spreading some light to the world...what light is this?
-
Peace be upon you,
What is needed is to condone good works and reject evil. I think the "we" comes form those of us that want to see the misinformation about THIS reading cleared up.
Some of my goals are to de mistify this reading, to let people know its not about "religion", but a way of life that has exsisted since the beginning of time. Its not anything new, just a reminder.
-
This depends on ones definition of religion. What is it exactly that is being objected to here. roll oops lol

Peace upon all,
One criteria that we can use to clear up the picture for us and for others is very simple and much revealing.
"do not associate anything with the god" which can be reworded as " to not take any object as sacred". Once one liberate his mind from this kind of shackles, he is more enclined to see the reality of the world as it is, not been biased by some illogical "instructions or data" in his mind causing it to loose contact with the truth.
This kind of people, those who associate some object with the god, tend to be agressive to defend their sacred object, agressive because they have no logical way to explain their attachement to such an object. These are the associators.
So, we should remind people that there's nothing sacred but the most sacred the god the creator, there is nothing like him. To him belongs all that is in the skies and the earth, and to him we will return. He is the one who molds us in our mothers's womb and he is the giver.
Everyone has his limits and his shortcomings, no one is perfect. Thus in our everyday life, we do some good and some bad too, but the "hint" is to outweigh the bad with the good.
just some thoughts

AND did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountains green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen? And did the Countenance Divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among these dark Satanic Mills?Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land.-Jerusalem by William Blake
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery
None but ourselves can free our minds
Have no fear for atomic energy
Cause none of them can stop the time
How long shall they kill our prophets
While we stand aside and look
Some say it's just a part of it
We've got to fulfill the bookWon't you help to sing, these songs of freedom
Cause all I ever had, redemption songs, redemption songs, redemption songsEmancipate yourselves from mental slavery
None but ourselves can free our minds
Have no fear for atomic energy
Cause none of them can stop the time
How long shall they kill our prophets
While we stand aside and look
Yes some say it's just part of it
We've got to fulfill the bookWon't you help to sing, these songs of freedom
Cause all I ever had, redemption songs
All I ever had, redemption songs
These songs of freedom, songs of freedom-Redemption Song - Bob Marley
