    hello everyone

well, i finally got round to registering. My story is as follows. I was married to a sunni muslim, have been divorced now for 5 years. I have 4 wonderful children, who i think were my main reason for starting to research islam more.
Of course, when i became muslim, all i ever heard was stuff about the hadith. And you accept it, you do...because thats how things are.
But now my children are getting older (oldest is 14), and some things their father would tell them not to do, seemed odd to me. So i started looking into things. And when i started reading hadith properly....i would often find myself going huh??

Finally, when i reached my conclusions, i had discussion with childrens father. Who, of course, outright dimissed anything i had to say.
Even though he said to begin with, in answer to my "could it be possible for a person to be a good muslim JUST following Quran"...he said "yes"...about half hour later, he was warning me "you shoudl be careful here"
And that is what annoyed me. Of all the people i know who are muslims, i dont think i have ever heard any of them quote the Quran when making a point. Always the hadith.
And that makes me so angry, that people would ignore Allahs word in favour of hadith.
So anyway, my ex husband, says dont you think there would be other people who have thought of these things before you, if they were true?
And i came online, and found out that there were.

    -)

I have to commend the makers and the participants of this site. When i found this site, it was like...wow...lol
And i read for ages, the posts on here....alternately amazed at the truth of what i was now seeing, and disgusted at sunni muslims reponses.
I dont think of myself as gullible, and even if there is something i REALLY wish to believe in....if someone comes up with a valid point against my argument, i know i would stop and think...ok, he/she's got a point.
But i can honestly say, that not ONE SINGLE comment by sunnis here on this forum, or here in my life, has raised that. If anything, they appear to destroy their credibilty even more each time they answer something.
So, just to say, hi...and thanks for the back up guys -)

      Salaam Aisha,

      Welcome to the forum. welcome

Obviously even we here on this forum and similar ones talk about nonsensical things and make mistakes. The best thing for any of us is to learn to know and understand.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

            Yummy. That's a good meal. D

There are some members here from the UK who you may be able to meet and get to know and study with.

I like how you presented your story, the words are very honest.
