Such a loss. Ahmad Deedat was a great man, and for all I know, had he known of us, he'd probably sympathize. Wasn't he Qur'an-only too?
Khi- Salam. I have many of his speeches on CD. One of that is Al-Quran, the Ultimate miracle, regarding code-19. However Ahmed Deedat was NOT a Quran Aloner. He believed in hadith and followed them as can be seen from his beard and hat. He also uttered the shaadah including Muhammad and he emphasized in one of his speeches that Muhammad was the greatest man ever and always used 'sallu 'ala' after mentioning his name. So he was definitely NOT a Quran Aloner. GOD Bless!

Peace,
He was associated with this organisation - International Islamic Propagation Center ( http//www.the-quran.org/ click on chairman ). I had an opportunity to discuss with one of the members on Paltalk sometime ago, and saw some of their videos, I noticed that they would debate against sunnis etc, and claim to follow quran only.
(IIPC) was started over seventeen years ago by Brother Mohammad Shaikh. The purpose of this center is the study and propagation of AL-QURAN throughout the world, without sectarian, political, historical, scholarly or any other bias and affiliation. The Study is done with the sole trust on the author of Al-Kitab (The Book), Allah and belief that only He can guide to the straight path.

I also saw few debates of him..and I was amazed and cheered when I was a sunni...but now I get another picture. Though he had so much of so called knowledge but he never returned to God alone. By definition he was a sectarian and a famous one. He was just eloquent with his words and went on proving other religions wrong. But whos gonna prove his religion wrong ? did he ever thought abt it after knowing RK's theory. Definitely he knew about God alone concept and knew the Quranic instructions on not to believe in any other hadith. But he did. What was the point ? Was he unable to break the shakle of tradition in the face of Fame and popularity ?
I donno..only God knows best....but personally I dont give him much credit. He just boosted the sectarian system....

Salaamun Alaikum,
dear brothers and sisters in Islam,Me and my friend personally met him in Abu Dhabi. But when I was supposed to ask him about Quran-Alone thing (this was the only purpose we met him for, I was the beginner in Quran-Alone), some converted white skin people came to him and wanted to learn some suras from him.
Deedat asked us to question anything that we wanted to ask with his son. And he said that his son is capable to answer any of our questions. And he left with those people who wanted to learn suras from him.
We (me, my friend and Deedat's son) had a discussion for few minutes then I asked whether to follow Hadith or AlQuraan is enough. He put rinckles on his nose and said slowly, AlQuraan is more than enough and Allah has mentioned everything in details in AlQuraan. So, no use of following anything else except AlQuraan.
I was very happy to hear that because it was in my favor but my friend said, this fellow does not know anything. We will ask Deedat again. But we could not able to meet him again.
And not only this, Deedat's son was very happy to meet me and he said I could not resist myself by giving you this AlQuraan (Yousuf Ali's translation, that was the only copy that they have, which Deedat use always on his speeches) and he gifted me that copy of AlQuraan + a video tape as gift.
And I never found any hadith quoted by Deedat in any of his video tapes or books. This is also an enough proof to understand what he was.
But unfortunately, his diciples like Zaker Naik or Imran, etc... are not like him. I think Deedat just guide his diciples towards AlQuraan, but he never explain about Quran-Alone thing.
May Allah forgive Ahmed Deedat and may his soul rest in peace.
Regards,
MMKhan

thanks MMkhan for sharing ur experience.. But what do you call those ppl who says one thing and appears to be another thing.
I dont want to be judgemental but some facts do remain and arises doubt. But its just opinion...
I dont understand one thing why he never said anything agaist the sunnis ? the sects are more corrupted than the christians or jews... But did Deedat gave any speech on that ? If he really thought that Quran was enough than how come he failed to point those mistakes to the mass sectarians ? I just dont get it...

As-Salaam Alaikum,
Why should anyone say anything against anyone?? Deedat was a unifier. He is mourned by everyone from Submitters, the Nation of Islam, Shi'a, Sunni and just about every other Muslim - I have seen eulogies from all of these groups.
I came here because i thought i'd find something a bit different from the usual banter of Wahhabis calling everyone "munafiqin" and "kuffar".

I dont know who deedat was. But i am just going to comment on a few remarks made.

Prophet Muhammad WAS and STILL IS one of the greatest men. He brought us the Quran. I have a beard and i wear those hats sometimes to go with my clothes. And yet, i dont follow hadiths. If i can do it, he can do it too

I am not a big fan of sunnis or shias or ahmadis. I do call them mentally challenged on almost every occasion i mention them. But that is my opinion of them. Deedat happened to be one who didnt share my opinion. Jews and Christians dont even follow out holy book. But if we went after them pointing out their mistakes, we wouldnt be no better than sunnis or shias or ahmadis. I think the man had spent his time doing better things. I dont even know him, and just for that i will respect him.

It is really difficult to say anything about why he failed to do so. But my personal understanding on the same is, he was just decided to work with Christians and Jews as in my locality (you might be knowing that I was belonged to a sect called Mehdavi) there are lot of people who came out of this sect and they just try to guide other against Mehdavism. They never think of going beyond this.
Just a thought. Because only Allah is the One who knows better about Deedat and everybody else.

hello all,
last night I just realized something which is more like this......
Ok!! Even the traditionalist agree that Islam gives freedom to every individual to practice their faith peacefuly. Now the question comes.. IF they really respect other persons faith/religion than why there are so many organizations dedicated to convert ppl in to Islam??? Why do they encourage muslims to convert other faiths ? why why ? Doesnt it go against their own teaching ?
I mean if both party agrees to discuss upon a topic than its all cool....but going on a mission to convert others is logicaly contradictory to the statement which says "everyone has freedom to believe"
I hope u all understand what I am trying to say..P

I think telling someone about God and converting someone are two different things. Its like spreading the word of God. You dont have to do it, but if you do, you are doing it for the sake of God. There is a sikh guy who is a mate of mine, and we talk about God. I tell him about islam and he tells me about sikhism. But neither are trying to convert each other. Just sharing the information. Then its up to him what he does with it. The difference with US and the traditionalist is that they kinda guilt you into it, or force you into it, or reel you into it. Which is wrong.
