Good food & Bad food
-
Salaam Savage Carrot,
I will just say that what is good and healthy for one person can be unhealthy for another person if you concider allergy to some specific food.
But i cannot agree that everything beyond that God mention as restricted are good for us.
I mean I wouldn't eat a frog or a lizzard or something like that but God hasn't mention that as restricted.
I believe also here as many other things in Quran that everyone must make their own decision of what is ok to do.When they at the same time look at restricted things in Quran.
You use your moral in all decision and must trust your instinct until you will found a better answer or solution.
Peace

Peace sis,
Thanks for replying! )
I agree in the most part to what you say, like I wouldn't eat a rat or consider it good...I wouldn't consider red meat to be good, that's why I think Good Food = Lawful Food (Allowed/Halal) in the quran. As good and bad is relative.
But my question is if Good Food = Lawful Food then does Restricted Food = Bad Food OR Neutral Food.
-
SaLaM My Lovely Cutie Sis and SC
I dont agree with Good Food = Halal Food. Becoz, what may be good for one, may not be good for others. For example, Loooooooll, me and SM. I love KFC and she dont. Therefore it dont mean that becoz she thinks its bad food, it is not haram.
Good food is everything that God has not fobidded and what common sense says is good food. Like SM said, rats and frogs. NOT good food. They have dieases and what not. Cats, dogs same thing. But like some people are vegetarian, and they dont touch meat, it dont mean that meat is bad food. It simply means vegetarians arent strong enough to eat meat http//www.geocities.com/bigjaxal/big-smile.gif Looooooooooollllll im kidding looooooooool.
Like you for example SC, you dont consider red meat to be good. I consider it a God's gift to man kind. Therefore, i think, Restricted Food = Neutral food for that person alone.
-
I fear death by KFC for Jaxal!!! -)
Lets all be vegetarians so we don't have waste time debating if pig is eatable or not -)

Loll brother, death by KFC? That would indeed be a good death http//www.geocities.com/bigjaxal/big-smile.gif . Frankly im confused at this whole pig thing. Loooll BAD FOOD. To this day i dont know if double cheese burger has pork in it or not. I suspect it does, and yet i eat it.

Peace Jaxal,

Jaxal, dude, no offence but did you really read my post?
Thus can everything NOT restricted under normal circumstances be considered Good = Lawful?
OR
Thus can everything NOT restricted under normal circumstances be considered
NOT Restricted = Good
NOT Restricted = Lawful
Therefore,
Good = Lawful.
Good and bad is relative...the good things are the things that are allowed to us...anything can be good or bad depending on the situations/variables/factors... that is why good things/lawful things are not specified but restricted things are.
And btw, this thread has got nothing to do with what is pig meat. lol

SaLaM SC
SC, dude, no offense taken http//www.geocities.com/bigjaxal/s1.gif.
And btw, this thread has got nothing to do with what is pig meat.
Completely agree. My bad for bringing it up.
I think you are saying it wrong. How can every lawful food be not restricted under normal circumstance. God told what not to eat. RESTRICTED FOOD.
So, RESTRICTED FOOD = UNLAWFUL
RESTRICTED FOOD under exceptional circumstances is lawful
So, RESTRICTED FOOD in exceptional circumstances = LAWFUL / NEUTRAL
-
Peace Jaxal,
I think you are saying it wrong. How can every lawful food be not restricted under normal circumstance.
Because it's not specified in the quran what good food/lawful food is. All we know is that good food is lawful food and everything NOT restricted. What is restricted is specified in the quran.
And btw in your quote above, lawful food is lawful food in any circumstance.
I just reread your quote...wtf? How can every lawful food be not restricted under normal circumstances or any circumstance indeed...quite an incisive question lol
-
SaLaM SC
Because it's not specified in the quran what good food/lawful food is
Ok here is a verse for you
They ask thee what is lawful to them (as food). Say lawful unto you are (all) things good and pure and what ye have taught your trained hunting animals (to catch) in the manner directed to you by God eat what they catch for you, but pronounce the name of God over it and fear God; for God is swift in taking account.
This day are (all) things good and pure made lawful unto you. The food of the People of the Book is lawful unto you and yours is lawful unto them. (Lawful unto you in marriage) are (not only) chaste women who are believers, but chaste women among the People of the Book, revealed before your time,- when ye give them their due dowers, and desire chastity, not lewdness, nor secret intrigues if any one rejects faith, fruitless is his work, and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good).
Lawful to you is the pursuit of water-game and its use for food,- for the benefit of yourselves and those who travel; but forbidden is the pursuit of land-game;- as long as ye are in the sacred precincts or in pilgrim garb. And fear God, to Whom ye shall be gathered back.
[22.30
Those who reverence the rites decreed by GOD have deserved a good reward at their Lord. All livestock is made lawful for your food, except for those specifically prohibited for you. You shall avoid the abomination of idol worship, and avoid bearing false witness.I think God gives us a clear idea of what is lawful by giving us a clear idea of what is NOT lawful. PLUS common sense. Then God also tells us when the Unlawful food is lawful to us. For me atleast, its clear When the unlawful food is lawful.
-
Salaam all,
Why you must make everything so complicated.
My beliefs is that God don't make things difficult for us, we have got a self thinking brain and with it we shall make our own decisions.
It goes for everything like, food,clothes,behaviours........
God put up restrictions in his book to help us avoid the bad things, things that we cannot really understand that it can be bad for us.
Like when God says that we shall avoid pork, but he don't say that we shall avoid snakes, rats, frogs etc, why do God do this?
Well I think that God possible can have make the pig restricted of many reasons and God also know that humans are fond of pigs. The pig is also an alleater and it has urin in its flesh.
So if we think a little bit forward we can figure out that bad food must be flesh of beasts and other alleaters because there can be alot of bacterias in their flesh like the grasseaters don't have.
So when God says that all good food is allowed He must meant that everything that makes us healthy is good for us and we shall avoid the bad foods or eat only a small amount of it.
So we shall use our brains to sort out what is good and what is bad, and all this science nowadays that makes resources of what is healthy and not can be good to read about.
But pork can never be a good choice so I don't understand what Priest Bookmai is up to, does he longing for a porkchop or what!?
Peace

What are you arguing about?
-
Peace All,
This thread is NOT about what is good and bad for us because we THINK so, it's about CATEGORIZATION of food as defined in the QURAN, and what logical divisions we can make. Thanks!
Peace sis Majidah,
But pork can never be a good choice so I don't understand what Priest Bookmai is up to, does he longing for a porkchop or what!?
lol Thats what i think! It's just a guilt trip that makes him want to come and make sure all of us do too....
-
Peace Jaxal,
Im not arguing. Im telling you what you didnt know.
I already know what you are telling me...read my posts bro! lol
Additionally to clarify, it's like God didn't tell us that beef is good, or any food is good like he specified the restrictions...its a generalisation, any food not restricted = halal = good.
-
Salam Jaxal,
I said quran does not specify the good food like the restrictions. If you disagree please tell me where the good food is specified like the restrictions are...
-
SaLaM SC
SC, u said Because it's not specified in the quran what good food/lawful food is. Im JUST telling you that god HAS mentioned the lawful food in Quran by directly naming them, i.e Cattle, and by telling us what is restricted. I hope you understand.
-
Peace Jaxal,
Specified ALL the good food as in naming them
Im JUST telling you that god HAS mentioned the lawful food in Quran by directly naming them, i.e Cattle, and by telling us what is restricted. I hope you understand.
I understand what you are saying, it's been addressed in my posts. What you are misunderstanding is God has not specified/named ALL the good food/lawful food like He has specified/named ALL the restrictions. Is parsley good/lawful for us to eat? God has not specified/named parsley as restricted therefore it is lawful = good.
-
Salaam Sister Savage Carrot,
The point is that God aren't mentioning the good food in his Scripture, that is our own work sis.
God is only mentioning what is bad for us and that he do with Love to us the rest we have to deal on our own.
Why do you think the humanbeing got a bigger brain than the rest of the animals!?
It's clearly that we have to dig for knowledge on our own, God only give clues for us but we cannot have everything on a plate then there is no challenge and why then we have to be judge on the day of judgment!?
Sis I think you are too attached to the scripture, there is a life outside the scripture too and it's how you form your own life.Don't be a blind follower.
Peace
Sis Majidah -
Peace sis Majidah,
lol I understand what you are saying and it's not what my questions have been about. It's about clarifying the logical divisioning of food as detailed in the quran.
God is only mentioning what is bad for us and that he do with Love to us the rest we have to deal on our own.
Thats exactly what I'm saying...as in my posts
"Good and bad is relative...the good things are the things that are allowed to us...anything can be good or bad depending on the situations/variables/factors... that is why ALL good things = lawful things are not specified but restricted things are.
"Because it's not specified in the quran what good food/lawful food is. All we know is that good food is lawful food and everything NOT restricted. What is restricted is specified in the quran."
All good/lawful food by virtue of it not being ALL named/specified is allowed, we make up our own mind as to what we want to eat and what is good and bad for us out of the good/lawful food (defined as that which is not restricted/forbidden/haram in the quran). What we can't do is say God forbade this and that out of the good/lawful food, as thats personal choice. As for ALL the restrictions, they are OFF LIMITS unless forced by necessity etc...
But my question is if Good Food = Lawful Food can Restricted Food = Bad Food OR Neutral Food
Bad Food = defined by God as being bad.
Neutral Food = only defined as being restricted. In both cases we can't eat it under normal circumstances but
does that make restricted food bad because God called it bad,
OR
only bad because it is restricted (e.g is it just a test?)
