    hi M_Mehdi,
    Regarding Education

i would disagree that education doesnt matter. education and knowledge kindles our thought process. when this doesnt happen, u r stuck with blind faiths and beliefs. yes, man has free will. but his knowledge of his choices and truth is limited if he doesnt try to look for truth, to attain wisdom.

i come from a country where once and even now(to a very small extent, though) people practice crude beliefs. take sati( a tradional indian custom of burning the widow along with her husband's body) for example. tell one educated hindu male or female to practice it, will they? they wont for they would see its wrong and foolish.i have given a hindu example to explain what education can do to a human being.
look at people in afghanistan. the children are taught that they would go to heaven if they blow the (civilian included)non muslims up. now, they believe that coz thats the amount of knowledge they possess. by knowledge, i dont mean intelligence. knowledge/ truth is something u learn and attain.
look at the whole of the arab world? how many people there are educated? i dont mean to say education makes a good man, or infact, even knowledge makes a good man. education and knowledge widens the truth and presents them with choices where they can exercise their free will.

And if u guys had gone through the site, this is what it says

And they say None entereth Paradise unless he be a Jew or a Christian. These are their own desires. Say Bring your proof (of what ye state) if ye are truthful.
(Surah II - The Cow III
The normal civilized behavior of mankind loses its meaning when put under the measuring devices of Jehad. Thus, for a mujahid or jehadi, it is not only required to slaughter the unbeliever, even a peaceful unbeliever, kidnap and rape his women, enslave his children, all for the only reason of his unbelief Allah has already divided mankind into two parts the be-lievers and the unbelievers. One is Allah's party and the other is Satan's party and an unending war between them is ordered by Muhammad, the Prophet of Allah. And in this war, there is no established acceptable conduct, comparable to what is stated in the Mahabharatam, at the time of the great battle of Kurukshetra. In Allah's battle, anything goes and no matter who wins on the battle field, the members of Allah's palm are sure to win. They are the ones who will enjoy the damsels in Paradise and their oppo-nents, however just, will burn in Hell fire.

now, we all know this message is so untrue. what stops us from saying so?
why do those people think of us like that?
are they knowingly spreading a wrong message or ignorantly? and this is a publication? shouldnt wrong translations of the Quran be banned?

          1. fortunatly some do ... for others.. well, perhaps they have to come and say why they don't

          2. our actions have some to do with it... some are plain zealouts.. and others probably at their core believe they are doing right... it's unfortunate worldy desires pull a sort of veil over the truth...

          3. I believe some yes.. others merely follow..

          4. some books appear to be..

          http//www.islamreview.com/

          1. for myself, yes.. .. on a public level .. banning never works... imo.

agree with u on this m_mehdi.

          1. i guess the ones who do are just not loud enough or the others louder?
          2. completely agree
          3. completely agree. but for those ignorant lot who follow, should they not hear the truth? should they not have a choice?
its not just important to do the right thing. its equally important to correct the wrong.
          4. some of the Quran translation are ridiculous to the core. i came across a Quran translation( written by some american) according to which the prophet was a mad man who suffered from schizophrenia and he came up with the Quran during those episodes.( the preface ) this is the begining. the translation was absolutely wrong and so were the interpretations.
do we permit this by letting people think its true?
ofcourse, we cant help how people understand it! but shouldnt we atleast prevent wrong translations? shouldnt we atleast safeguard the message of the book?

hi M_Mehdi, good to know u like the thread.

say for eg, there's a person who doesnt know english and he ends up learning from some source that the word 'fame' means 'a bird'. would u, who knows the language, correct him or not? the guy is just ignorant. wouldnt u tell him, what the word's correct meaning is?

i hope u get what i mean, by this stupid and silly example?

                HI M_Mehdi,
looks like i have not made myself clear with the example.

what i meant anyways, was if sumone misunderstands sumthing to be true, wouldnt it be necessary for people who understand/know the right thing to tell him?

if there are nonmuslims who spread wrong meanings of Quran, shouldnt that be curtailed? coz if one doesnt, there are gonna be loads of ignorant people reading and relying on it, considering it true, and believing the false message.

                  Salam peacefulmuslim,

This is solely my opinion. Even if the person knowledgeable of the true meaning of the word explains to the one who has misunderstood it, the one who misunderstood would generally have difficulty grasping it. Especially, in the case if the misunderstood person has the conceptualized and generalized thought of Islam and Quran. He may question you instead and ask what makes you think that you're right and the majority is wrong. Even if you convince him that following the majority need not be right, he may not agree with you.

This is because of him being ignorant and choosing to believe what he has come to believe. This is what is happening in reality. People have come to believe the majority opinion of Islam. "Muslims" and non-Muslims alike. If the person is willing to listen to alternate view(s), then proceed to explain to him further and correct his wrong understanding. If he is unwilling, then let him be. It is almost impossible to convince one who is blinded and has his heart sealed. Looking forward to your comments. Thank you.

                      hey guys,

                      hey!

why is Quran so widely misunderstood by others? Is it becoz we (supposedly called its followers, the muslims) fail to live by it, in reality and yet claim to or do we not speak out loud enough?

i'd like to know what u guys feel.

                      thank you

Are the followers of the quran of the quran called muslims? How is that?
Are you one of them? And if you are - how did you reach the conclusion of following the quran?

                      kind regards,
                      S

What I am trying to say is that what may be blue to you, might be green to me and vice versa. Becoz i cant see it through 'your eyes'. So all along while something is blue to you, it might be green to me. Its complex. I dont know how to explain it.

The point in hand that you were referring to and I was giving my opinion was related to the people's perception of Islam and the Quran, right? Do correct me if I'm wrong. I'm going to assume my position here and say that based on that understanding, is it not an easy matter to prove these issues. Yes, facts will be facts to people who are aware of them. What is truth to you in religious issues need not be truth to someone of a different belief no matter how hard you try to justify your claim. Looking forward to your comments. Peace!

the opinion on Quran, to be exact, not necessarily on Islam.
There has been some really absurd translations and commentaries of Quran, which are in circulation and which end up spreading a very wrong message.
