      hi 2 pac,
these days am hooked into classicfmtv. it plays some amazing music, especially after 9 pm.
sometimes, its so peaceful to get absorbed into pure music (the guitar, the violin, the piano etc)with no lyrics. i just love it.
      i love the latino music.

for a peaceful state, i'd definitely prefer pure music, with no lyrics.

sometimes, songs with pure lyrics are good too. love 'wild child' by enya. now thats my kind of music if i am in the peaceful mood.

          Salaam,

Jazz music especially the saxophone, sexiest instrument in the world wink . An artist called Najee is amazing with it, suggest you download his tracks like, I Adore Mi Amor, All The Things , Love's In Need of Love Today, For The Love Of You & Have You Ever Loved.

Reggae also and who can be better at it but none other than Bob Marley. You got your tracks like One Love, Could You Be Loved, Jammin, Is This Love, 3 Little Birds & Waiting In Vain.

Well, you have already described what I love for me. D

          One,
          Damon.

              Salaam 2pac and all,

I'm an all eater in music, I can nearly listen to all kinds of music but as Lk said jazz isn't my favourite.

The mood is the most important when to choose to listen to music, when I'm angry i feel to listen to hard rock slam and dunk.

And when I'm in LOVE I feel to listen to romantic songs like now often played song Mariah Carey "We Belong Together" and James Blunt "Your Beautiful".

But i love disco music all from old disco hits like "Daddy cool" with Boney M and to new Disco music with September.

              I love music!!!!!

              Peace
              Sis Maria

                  Salam everybody

Music is something I love very much and its a beautiful gift from God I believe

I think so too. Music for me is very important in my daily life.

My favourite in these weeks is James Blunt. Although I shouldn't listen too much to his music 'couse I feel always so blue afterwards wah . But I like his music and lyrics very very much. I also like Dido. I actually like RnB music, but lyrics are mostly so dirty or are always about "the same", what is anoying me. So I listen to it but not too much.

Also I listen a lot to Greek music like "Pantazis", or Turkish "Oguz Yilmaz", and when I feel like screaming out my sentiments I listen to good old Um Kalthoum or other "oh my poor heart" arab romancy music such as Wama, Fadel Shaker. Also very nice the young hip-hop Band MTM from Egypt.
I also listen to Samy Yusuf.

                  warda

If you got Pakistani or Indian background then you would be familiar with a genre called Qawwali which has its origin from Sufi. Its superb and talented artist Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan mastered this genre. These types of tunes get you into a hypnogogic state I believe and you reach another level honestly its amazing. I recommend tracks from him like Allah Hoo, Dillagi, Mazaa Aa Gaya, Tauba, Mulaqat Ho Gaye, Rabba Lakh Lakh, Sano Ik Pal Chain & Yeh Jo Halka Halka.

Then you obiviously know about spiritual devotional songs wink

I would recommend music of Bach as a musical meditation...specially the Brandenburgh Concertos...and off course the slow movements from the music of Mozart, Piano Concerto No 23 for instance!!!

But perhaps you will think this as HIGH music and not listen to them wink
                        But its a recommendation...

                        Regards,

I see you are a fan of music of Bach?
                            Great! Yes fantastic music!

The famous geneticist Steve Jones's book In the blood describes how researchers have measured the heart rates of people of different blood groups while they listened to music. They found that group As were attracted to harmony, Bs to rhythm, Os to melody and ABs liked all three (especially Bach)!

So you must be blood group AB!!!

                            Regards,

                              Hi Lote Tree

Bach, Mozart, Verdi, ... their Music is without a question great pieces of art. During his lifetime nobody realized the value of the work of Bach and he was forced to compose music of much inferior quality to please the noble man he worked for. In fact this noble man, his employer even forbid him to do other work than the ordered one. Only Bach himself and some of his pupils and fellows realized what piece of work he created.

Bach had two wifes who both died young plus several kids who died young also. He died more or less poor, leaving a masterpiece of work.

I don't like everything of him but some things really calms down temper )

I don't know how it is where you live, but here they play lots of Bach in the churches, especially in the Christmas time. He is very popular here.

                              Salam

                                Hello Warda,

I live in the Shakespeare Country, merry little England -)

First time I heard the music of Beethoven, I was stunned! and that was at the age of sixteen on a free open air concert held at our local park! Since then Classical music became very important to my life (and music in general of course). But I think Music is very important to us. Music touches something deep inside us and we have no choice but to listen, to respond to it without understanding why... -)

                                Regards,

                                  Salam Lote Tree,

The first thing I do in the morning is open the radio, when I enter my car the first thing I open is my Hi-Fi, when I am sitting at my Computer I have to listen music ... . Wherever I am I have to listen music

Some days ago my car hi-fi was stolen. Although I have financial problems in these days I bought immediatly a new one from amazon. Cause I couldn't stand it driving to work and from work without my CDs and singing or dreaming with it.... ) so after only three days I had my beloved hi-fi and music again... ) I cannot believe that music should be haram. I had an argument about that with a fellow, he was claiming that it is haram cause it prevents us from thinking of God... I answered him that whenever I listen to music, luckily singing I then remember God thanking him for life and music ) So it's rather the opposite with me.

As for classical music Do you like choirs? There are wonderful choirs from Wagner which gives you the creeps and tears in your eyes even after hearing it several times! Or from Nabucco the choir of the prisoners (I'm not sure its like that in english).

                                  take care

Yes I like choral music. But my favourite is melodic orchestral works like Rachmaninovs "The Isle of the Dead"....

And in English it is known as "Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves"
                                    from Nabucco.

I love almost every genre...except for crappy techno! I'm Bermudian and the main musical influence here is caribbean, so I LOVE reggae, SOCA, and calypso. I like rap sometimes...but mainstream hip hop and rap are all gone to pot right now......I love Rock!! classics like Guns n' roses! Right now I'm into Bloc Patry (listening to them as I write), Hawthorne Heights, Gorillaz, MIA, Kaiser Cheif, system of a down, Muse, Elephant Man, TOK, Craig David and much much more can't name them all ! D
