    Salaamun alaikum Al-Arnab,

Thanks for raising a fine topic of discussion. I'd like to point out a few things if I may

    1. Since the masajid are for Allah, what are we meant to do in them?

    2. 9/108 uses the phrase 'laa taqamu', do not stand in them. How do you understand this phrase?

    3. What is a masjid if in 9/30, after the banning of al-mushrikoon from masjidil haraam, Allah tells us not to fear poverty?

    peace

      Salam mquran,
Thank you for replying to my post. I'd like to respond to your reply

      1. Since the masajid are for Allah, what are we meant to do in them?
My point is that (to the best of my current knowledge) we are ONLY supposed to worship/pray to Allah alone in the mosques. Not to associate anyone else with him (even if it is a messenger).

      2. 9/108 uses the phrase 'laa taqamu', do not stand in them. How do you understand this phrase?
Thank you for asking....my understanding is that in order to enter a mosque you walk into one and therefore you are standing at some point...which, to my understanding, would suggest not to even enter one...I could be wrong....for instance, I suppose one could crawl into a mosque....?

      3. What is a masjid if in 9/30, after the banning of al-mushrikoon from masjidil haraam, Allah tells us not to fear poverty?
Forgive me if I am mistaken but I show that 930 reads

Free-Minds Translation The Jews said "Uzair is God's son," and the Nazarenes said "The Messiah is God's son." Such is their utterances with their mouths, they imitate the sayings of those who rejected before them. God will fight them. They are deluded from the truth!

Please give me the verse you are referring to and I will comment on it.
      Shukron

        Salaamun alaikum again Arnab,

Ok, does this mean we perform some kind of ritual in a masjid?

        1. 9/108 uses the phrase 'laa taqamu', do not stand in them. How do you understand this phrase?

Hehe, I suppose so. Laa taqamu could be taken metaphorically as well. Since 9/107 is speaking about those who war against Allah and His messenger, I take it to mean that we're not be part of that movement,

        1. What is a masjid if in 9/30, after the banning of al-mushrikoon from masjidil haraam, Allah tells us not to fear poverty?

        Apologies, I meant 9/28. I was mistaken with 9/30.

          SaLaM Arnaab

Indeed brother. Just sit in a mosque, worship Allah and lose yourself in that worship. When i was a kid, i loved the whole idea how we all stand side by side together and worship Allah. I think, that is one of the best ways to worship Allah. Without the ritual ofcourse.

And there are those who establish a Temple to do harm and cause rejection, and to divide between the believers, and as an outpost for those who fought God and His messenger before. They will swear that they only wanted to do good, and God bears witness that they are liars.

Do not uphold in it ever. A Temple that is founded on righteousness from the first day is more worthy that you uphold in it; in it are men who love to be cleansed. And God loves the cleansed.

And now we know WHY we shouldnt pray in that kind of mosques.

O you who believe, those who have set-up partners are impure, so let them not approach the restricted Temple after this lunar year of theirs; and if you fear poverty, then God will enrich you from His blessings if He wills. God is Knowledgeable, Wise.

Those who were idol worhippers or the one who commited shirk are not to be allowed near or in the REstricted Mosque.

I think my concern has been lost....
I will try to state it as simply as possible....
What is to be made of attending a mosque that mentions a messengers name along side with Allah?

            Again I will post 7218....

            Literal Translation acourding to YAQB.org
7218 'And that (E) the mosques (are) to God, so do not call anyone with God.'
            Free-Minds Translation
7218 And the temples are for God, so do not call on anyone with God.

Would mentioning Muhammad or Abrahams or any of the other messengers name along side Allah be considered calling on someone with Allah?

I'm just putting the question out there for your thoughts....

            Shukron

Well, I would say yes, it is.

The thing is, im not sure your perception of 'masjid' is correct. 9/28 needs to be analysed in order to see the function of a masjid.

Well, from 9/28, I take the view that a masjid is a space where Allah's laws are in action and human activities are going on. In this case ,economic activities because poverty is mentioned after the expulsion of al-mushrikoon. Going back to 72/18, I take it to mean that in such a space (masajid Allah), only Allah's laws are to be enacted as opposed to laws of another. Your opinion, please?

                      .
                      Peace

We essentially live in our hearts. Peace resides in our hearts and not in any particular place or building. We submit to Allah in our hearts and not through any ' physical form' of worship. We believe in the unseen hidden rahmath of allah as Allah commands us to have faith in. Mosques or masjids are not the places of worship for best place of worship is one's own heart.

May our hearts be set at peace.

Yes ,I can very much agree with you because you will attain peace in your heart first of all. But there can be public places you can attain peace in too like a mosque because who have said you must perform rituals in the mosque?

                          Peace Sis Maria
