Verily the transposing (of a prohibited month) is an addition to Unbelief the Unbelievers are led to wrong thereby for they make it lawful one year, and forbidden another year, in order to adjust the number of months forbidden by Allah and make such forbidden ones lawful. The evil of their course seems pleasing to them. But Allah guideth not those who reject Faith.
How can disbelievers do wrong i.e How can the wrong be wrong?
Isn?t this ayah merely telling the people/believers in general that they are members of the unbelievers if they do wrong?by breaking the Ban of the four months declared by the prophet-see below.
Baraatun mina Allahiwarasoolihi ila allatheena AAahadtum minaalmushrikeena
A (declaration) of immunity from Allah and His Messenger, to those of the Pagans with whom ye have contracted mutual alliances-
2.
Faseehoo fee al-ardi arbaAAataashhurin waiAAlamoo annakum ghayru muAAjizee Allahiwaanna Allaha mukhzee alkafireenaGo ye, then, for four months, backwards and forwards, (as ye will), throughout the land, but know ye that ye cannot frustrate Allah (by your falsehood) but that Allah will cover with shame those who reject Him.
3.
Waathanun mina Allahiwarasoolihi ila alnnasi yawma alhajjial-akbari anna Allaha baree-on mina almushrikeenawarasooluhu fa-in tubtum fahuwa khayrun lakum wa-in tawallaytumfaiAAlamoo annakum ghayru muAAjizee Allahiwabashshiri allatheena kafaroo biAAathabin aleeminAnd an announcement from Allah and His Messenger, to the people (assembled) on the day of the Great Pilgrimage,- that Allah and His Messenger dissolve (treaty) obligations with the Pagans. If then, ye repent, it were best for you; but if ye turn away, know ye that ye cannot frustrate Allah. And proclaim a grievous penalty to those who reject Faith.
NEW TRANSLATIONAnd where does it say the four months are a yearly thing?

The word mistranslated ? to me , is
AAmun ,which according to lanes means common/general universal e.t.c
I think Urdu speakers will know from their own lingo that AAm means common , and Urdu is derived from Arabic .

Salam,
'aam in Arabic is commonly used as "a year". I know what it's used in Urdu since i speak urdu but ive taken Arabic classes at the Islamic University and hence know that 'aam is used generally for "a year". We cannot just equate a word which sounds similar in another language to mean the same even if that language is derived from the former since there are always slight and sometimes greater vaiations. This is known as the error of equivocation. Though 'aam in Arabic can also mean "common" that would be a 2ndary meaning. GOD Bless!
