For some reason when I read this, I thought of the community that follows Aga Khan (Ismailiya/Khoja? ). They really support each other in terms of finances and other community needs, like housing etc. It's a close-knit community, and I'm not sure if just anyone can convert into it though. All in all, it is easier to be well off, financially if you're in that group. Atleast this is from what I've seen in my country
Good point. They're not as prolific as the Jews in the acquisition of power through positioning though.

Yes, right you are Zein. There is another community called Memons. Khoja's are also a community. My stepmom is Khoja and a Shia. They are pretty well off and these communities do support each other quite a lot no matter which country they settle in.

First of all, it is no secret that I'm planning on converting to judaism so you are free to tell anyone about my thoughts.
Second, it cannot possibly be a secret that I do have gay friends so the threat that you will tell about me having gay friends is no longer a threat.
Third, I was not being Ironic.Moreover, I do not accept these attacks that are not what so ever related to the subjected.

My question is...what are you converting to?? Is Judaism from Allah?, if so, please post the ayat or Torah verse where Allah or Moses says that, they brought Judaism as a Deen. Thanks.
Listen man, that you'd have to ask someone that makes such a stupid claim that judaism is a deen from God. 'Cause I don't.
I answered the question out of zenjes curiousity where upon he split the thread in order to discuss the subject on another thread.Hmmm...it seemed pretty stupid to me that, given that Allah has cursed the Jews, that you would want to be apart of that...in any degree. wink

I got nothing aginst the Jews, but I do feel sorry for them because all of trhe stuff taht they have being through. Plus, you are so right they are coursed and why do you want to be with that. I do not understand.

I feel much as you do about feeling sorry for many of them. As far as el-aziz is concerned, well, he is simply not thinking clearly at the moment, hopefully, by being here at free-minds, he will grow.

It is indeed relucantly that I feel myself having to express my disgust for such comments as the jews would be cursed by God (where do you get that from anyway?) and talking of me in third person whilst stating that I'm not thinking clearly.

Could you describe the conversion process to Judaism? I thought that it was basically a long process of learning Jewish scriptures, etc. In that case, the conversion process would indicate that one is becoming a religious Jew. Does Judaism recognize a conversion for the sake of culture? I do not think that you can escape the question of having faith in Judaism...it is both a faith and a culture. Your explanation that you want to "play in team Jew" is rather odd. I still think that it is like saying that you would like to be Black b/c of the culture...however, because Judaism is a faith(unlike being Black), there is a conversion process. And you say that you are not "converting," but that too is semantics, b/c that is exactly what you are doing...unless I have totally missed your point...Can I also ask what culture you belong to currently, and what ethnicity? I think this is one of the most interesting threads we've had in a while...barring the recent rude posts )

I have heard of such things as conversion for the sake of culture but it has never been confirmed to me.
The thing is, Judaism is a culture of faith, and jews have faith in their culture and its history, so I would consider them equal. Even an atheistic jew would not generally disregard either of them. That's why the the process of conversion is pretty much studies of the scriptures AND history of philosophy and culture.
Still I can't really cope with how compare being black to being jewish. The thing is, as a caucasian, I cannot convert to blackness but I can still join a culture which may be considered one of theirs, such as hip hop.
In the case of the team of jews, they already have a lot of players and they are certainly not in the need for more. However, if one seriously like to play with them - he can. Still, he has to prove whatever level of devotion he posseses and that will come out during the process of conversion. Many of the peope that go through the process never reaches "beit din (the religious court)" and that's no big deal.
