Shana Tovah and Ramadan Mubarak from Jewish Voice for Peace.
This year, Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins on the evening of the first day of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Can there be a better sign of hope for the coming year than this? It reminds us of the closeness of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, the three Abrahamic religions, and how we are all so much more alike than different.
We at Jewish Voice for Peace extend our wishes for a Shana Tova (good year, happy new year...) to all of our Jewish friends and supporters, and Ramadan Mubarak (have a blessed Ramadan) to all of our Muslim friends and supporters.
Unfortunately, we can only hope that next year at this time we will be looking at a very different situation in Israel, the Occupied Territories, and all of the Middle East. JVP is committed to working with all of our allies to bring about a better future.
For now, we have to let people know what is happening today.
While the fighting in Lebanon has garnered most of the headlines in recent weeks, the situation in the Gaza Strip has gone from awful to disastrous. Click here for JVPs in-depth analysis of the developments in Gaza this summer and the situation there now.
Tell your friends about JVP and ask them to join you in supporting our work . Working together, we can make sure that occupation and all other forms of violence in the region will not continue to mar Rosh Hashanahs and Ramadans year after year.
