444 O you who believe, do not come near the contact-method while you are drunk, until you know what you are saying. Nor if you have had intercourse, unless travelling, until you bathe. And if you are ill, or traveling, or one of you has excreted feces, or you had sexual contact with the women, and could not find water, then you shall select from the clean soil; you shall wipe your faces and hands. God is Pardoning, Forgiving.
Does this mean the Quran leaves it open to us on how we perform ghusl ?
Bathe is very open, it seems the Quran does not give details, as the hadiths on ghusl do .Wudu is defined in the Quran, but it seems ghusl is not defined.
Is that correct ?

Wash your face= clean your charatcer
Up to the elbows= elbows deals with relationships your conection to others
Not sure about the rest.
I know water and clean earth are the two ingredients, the two substances that makes the "clay".
salaa is a process wherby we are reshaping the clay that has hardened, one must apply water to soften the clay to reshape it.
These are my current thoughts about this topic.

Sister Taj, I agree about refresh for wudu is more logic than to clean.
And as ghusl is a bath not any strange at all.

Talking about ghusl.. is it true u need to wash ur whole body when making ghusl? And can u wear nail polish when u perform it even though u have to wash ur whole body?

Perhaps it should be considered when we need additional guidance and when we do not.
Do humans not know how to bathe? or we do not know how to clean ourselves when unclean?

Yes we know how to bathe, but how did it become such a ritual thing in Islam ? Especially since it is not specified in the quran to bathe a certain way .

Yes Jaxal has right, it's a sunni practise nothing else.
But please beware of using nailpolish it's not so good to use often, alot of chemicals and it's not good for the environments.

The nail polish thing is a sunni belief. Its becoz they think that the nail polish covers te area of ur nail and hence it cannot be washed. But nothing like that in Quran.
Which is so unbelievable stupid it defies belief.
The nail is made of keratin - a dead protein - washing it is equivalent to washing the surface of the nailpolish - both are as "dead" and inert as each other.
The purpose even in their understanding of "wudu" is not cleanliness - it can't possibly be, because if cleanliness were the point then they'd be better off washing their armpits, anus and genitals as they're several orders of magnitude dirtier than the surface of the fingernail.

Aint that the GOD DAMN TRUTH! The belief is that becoz the nail polish covers the area of ur nails, you havent REALLY cleaned yourself completely. Hence any salat you make wont be accepted. This was something i questioned early on becoz i used to think about the beggers on the street who might not get a chance to shower for days. But then again, i guess God would understand them coz they are beggers and we are not. We have a bathroom to take a shower in everday while they dont.

Hehe, even though its "dead" its a part of the body that God created. The question is, does ghusl mean washing tho whooole body?

I think cleaning ur nails implies 'cleaning the dirt in one's nails which collects underneath rather than on the nail's surface', the idea being cleanliness rather than 'holy act'

Hmm, i dont know about that. Then why should one clean the whole body that carefully after having sexual intercourse? Maybe we shall not speculate too much about the purpose of wudoo/ghusl, if theres nothing in the quran about that. There is some verse in quran which say u shouldnt speak about God, of which u have no knowledge, couldnt find it now unfortunately.
