Hi everyone. I normally don't post, just hide in the background and read your messages. But today i read something on a anti-islamic website that prompted me to write. I would like to start by asking if anyone has visted the faithfreedom.org website. I stumbled on it after trying to read about the hadith. All the material on here is clearly anti-islamic but also very dangerous and convincing to any young or confused muslims. They claim that they have converted many muslims .They don't care what religion you convert to as long as your don,t stay a muslim. This website is targeted at all muslims and uses foul language to describe Allah, theQuran and our holyProphet. It challenges all muslims(brave enough) to come forward and debate with them, has a $500,000 reward if you can convince them of islam and asks you to renounce islam if you lose.
I want to know what this and other islamic websites propose to do about this website? I mean people like Zed and Hafiz seem to be tearing each other apart here (onTrash) but have nothing to say to them. Don't you think we should be battling them first then resolving any issues we have here and anywhere else.
No wonder people(non muslims) look down on us. -
SaLaM Tahira
No sis. Let them live in their ignorance. We will let God deal with them. The truth is always revealed, no matter what. As the following saying goes
"There are two kinds of forces in the world. The sword and the spirit. In the long run, the sword will be conqured by the spirit." - too lazy to look up who said it
-
Hi Tahira,
We do not have to convince anybody the truth.
The truth is right out there, for anyone to see.
If people want to blindfold themselves, and mumble that they cant see, let them.
We need not waste our energy(and that basically is their intention) arguing with them coz its futile. -
Salam Jaxal
i understand what you mean. When people are ignorant no matter what you say to them they remain blind deaf and dumb.
But if we carry on ignoring them, will they not become a threat to our future(children), just like the teachings of islam that have been corrupted by our muslim scholars(not the the quran as it is written). If someone would have stopped them then when they started we would'nt be trying to search for the truth today.
I read the Quran when i was a child like most muslims(in arabic). Most of the time i was forced to read it like most muslims children are. I didn't understand a word of it, and instead of feeling privileged to be taught the quran it felt like a punishment. So the result was i learnt nothing. If thats how i felt then years ago what about children today and its these children that are vunerable to these websites. Children(and adults)just looking for an answer and direction. -
Peace and welcome (officially) Tahira )
I've been to that forum and surprised I lasted 2 weeks I think. But no, none of those people are interested in learning anything. And the $500,000 is a joke. I could offer a million dollars (knowing I have no money) for anyone to convince me to become a christian, what would it mean?... nothing. Speaking of which, I remember distinctly the admin of that site was asking for donations to help him keep up the site! lol
Check out this thread - Invitation to join the debate at faihfreedom.org - see how far that went. roll

Actually, i see them as nothing. They dont bother me even a bit. It is becoz i know that they have it comming on the day of judgement. And since WE know the truth, it is our job to teach our kids that from their childhood. So the age when you and I were being forced to read the Quran in arabic, we will teach our kids to understand the Quran and not merely repeat it like a parrot. This will be the difference. WE will teach our kids to turn to God for guidance and his scriptures for guidance. Not websites, an and anti islamic one at that. http//www.geocities.com/bigjaxal/s1.gif

Chapter 26
3. Perhaps you are grieving yourself that they do not become believers.
4. If We wish, We could send down for them from the heavens a sign, to which they would bend their necks in humility.
5. And not a reminder comes to them from the Almighty, except that they turn away from it.
6. They have denied, thus the news will come to them of what they used to ridicule. -
Peace be upon you Tahira,
Meaning, always be at peace. Dont let them get you all riled up. Many of us went over there for a short time, but they are only interested in thier obsession(shaytaan) of hate. They cannot effect anyone that the God has blessed with guidance, so do not despair.

I know that web site but unfortunattly we can't do anything about it, only in the forums we can
I actually joined an anti Islam forumover a year ago with only one objective in hand to stop the anti Islam posts and educate them about the true and peacful Islam, and with determination and more importantly the help of Allah, it stopped and I even have my Islamic forum on that web site
we have to stand for our religion, it is an order in the Quran
peace to all

Thanks guys (and gals) for lightening the load but i made a big mistake looking at the pictures on their gallery. I cried for days. I noticed most of the quotes and writings they used on their website were from the Hadith.
All my life iv'e been taught DON't do this and DON'T do that and i'll get punished if i step out of line by Allah and my parents, but all of what i was told i can and can't do was taken from Hadith. I don't know if Hadith is wrong or right but its hard when you have been brought up a certain way then you have to judge wether it was right or wrong. Any mention of hadith being wrong and you get daggers(eyes not Knives, just incase there are any non muslims reading this who think we are all terrorists). The funny thing is that when someone(an everyday muslim like myself) says something(islamic) to you and you ask if that was taken from the Quran or Hadith, they can't tell the difference. Thats why its easy for websites like these to target us. -
Faithfreedom is such a ridiculous website. When I first went there a few years ago, I cowered at their arguments, mainly b/c I was having problems as a convert and was generally questioning everything. However, faithfreedom is more of an anti-sunni than an anti-islam site. There is very little in the Quran that they can dispute, so they tend to rely more on "muslims are bad" as their motto. They also make up a lot of nonsense to defend their positions since they lack a working knowledge of islamic history. I find it extremely funny that so many there claim to be enlightened yet return to obviously wrong religions like hinduism and christianity.
-
Peace be upon you,
They are just as bad as sunni, they want to kill all sunnis, just like some sunnis want to kill all of them. Both sides are rejecters of the peaceful way, which is what I was showing them. Some ignored me and searched for others who they could entice into savagery. Others acted like they didnt know what I was saying and wanted to prove me wrong so they could continue thier hate.
-
Thanks guys
I'm still hanging on that fine thread of Sunni or non-sunni, Hadith or no Hadith. Hadith is our way of life, part of our (sunni)religion and yet ive never understood or felt comfortable with it.
Day by day i learn something new about Hadith and the more i learn the less i like it.
Its funny though i asked my hubby if hes ever read or understood Hadith and he said never yet he still accepts it. So are we even sunni to begin with then?
The teaching of the Hadith seem to be something that might appeal to cavepeople. You know uncivilised and barbaric.
All iv'e learnt so far from the Hadith is YOU ARE BAD ,YOU ARE SINNERS, YOU ARE EVIL. Being a sunni female is like a curse. You have to get out of bed a certain way or go to toilet in a certain way and everyday human behaviour starts feeling like a burden. You can't even have a bath and come out of the bathroom without feeling guilty. Women in particular are reminded regularly on a daily basis of what kind of evils we are capable of. -
Peace Tahira,
Its funny though i asked my hubby if hes ever read or understood Hadith and he said never yet he still accepts it.
This is the mentality that most of us had. Just taking things for granted and following with the masses like cattle. roll-
And similarly, We did not send a warner to a town, except its carefree ones said ?We found our fathers following a certain way, and we are being guided in their footsteps.?
-
He said ?What if I brought to you better guidance than what you found your fathers upon?? They said ?We are disbelievers in that with which you have been sent.?
-
And if they are told ?Follow what God has sent down,? they Say ?No, we will follow what we found our fathers doing!? What if their fathers did not understand anything and were not guided?
-
And the example of those who disbelieve is like one who repeats what he has heard of calls and shouts; deaf, dumb, and blind, they do not understand.
Women in particular are reminded regularly on a daily basis of what kind of evils we are capable of.
Bukhari says
Volume 4, Book 52, Number 110
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'UmarI heard the Prophet saying. "Evil omen is in three things The horse, the woman and the house."

Beautifully said Zenje
Your verse from the quran (2171) reminds me of what happens when people play chinese whispers (Like the one who reapeats what he has heard of calls and shouts) and yes they do behave deaf (ignorant), dumb(stupid) and blind (carless).
Other variations and descriptions from members are most welcome.
My eldest brother in law would ask me" are women clever in thinking like men. Can they tell the difference between bad and good, right and wrong".
He could'nt tell the difference between right and left let alone right and wrong. I don't know about other things but he definetly had a diploma for bragging. -
Peace Tahira,
First of all Welcome
On the issue of Faithfreedom or the reaction of your community or family or any other people...My view is that nothing and no one should matter for us except God...We are here on Earth to serve Him and Him Alone and not to win any popularity contest or to gather a following.
Nearly all prophets/messengers were persicuted, they were hounded, they were shunned, they lost family and friends...Yet, through it all they remained steadfast to the One that matters...The One in whose hands is our destiny, our salvation.

"Joy lies in the fight, in the attempt, in the suffering involved, not in the victory itself" -Ghandi
"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." -Ghandi ... heh.. heh.. love that one.. what??
Here's more of him trance
You must be the change you want to see in the world.Mahatma Gandhi
You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty. Mahatma Gandhi
An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Mahatma Gandhi,
In the attitude of silence the soul finds the path in a clearer light, and what is elusive and deceptive resolves itself into crystal clearness. Our life is a long and arduous quest after Truth. Mahatma Gandhi

how about a quote or two from one of the most peaceful men in current history...
How about a quote about peace?
Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum...Therefore, he who desires peace, let him prepare for war.
-
This seems a quotation thread wink
Here are mine
"To end All Wars, you need to have ONE BIG WAR" - I think Confucious.
from the film Third Man - Orson Welles?
"In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, bloodshed ? they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, five hundred years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."
I love that one...and the Gandh's Eye for Eye is my favourite too -)

salam,
one of my fav. stories has always been the Ghandi suger story... i'm going off of memory.. so please excuse if it's a bit off here or there.. but i think you'll get the gist...
A woman comes to Ghandi and and asks him to tell her son to stop eating suger... Ghandi thinks about it for a good while and tells the lady to come back in a week and bring her son with her again. So, she does, and when the week comes there they are again.. both mother and son in front of Ghandi... so she asks again.. can you please ask my son to stop eating suger... so this time the Mahatma simply looks at the boy and say "stop eating suger".
The mother is a bit puzzled and asks him.. why he had her come back in week just to say "stop eating suger" .. and Ghandi replies... "because last week, i was still eating suger, myself"..
peace...
LOL....I heard that story to be from muhammad??!!! shock confusing..lol
