Yes, I'd give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety's sake!

I think he is an idiot and should stop talking about God, as obviously he hasnt got a clue what natural law as intended by God is about.
Why do i not commit more evil than i do? because my great designer made my vessel release chemicals that make me feel bad when i transgress in natural law. For a while, but like you can get used to smoking cigarettes and drinking coffe, even to a point where you start to like it. So does evil work. At first it is horrible, but slowly it will be less, then nothing, and perhaps youll even come to enjoy it.
Its the same thing when im doing good things.
According to WHO there is roughly 1-3% truely criminal people in America. Meaning, they are a danger to other people and their property. Now think about this. Most of the "criminals" are so because they refuse to pay taxes, smoke pot, was driving without a licence, etc...all things that are not criminal in the natural law. So, in fact...they arent criminals and they are no threat to US. you and me.
So what if we do like the Quran suggests. deal harshly with those 1-3% ?? then what would happen?

Think about it. does the law of man really protect us? can you tell me how it does that.
His thesis is that it does, that its like a forrest protecting against the strong winds. And it sounds so reasonable, but lets cut it to the meat and potatoes here. what does he mean, and how does the lws of man do that?

give it a little more thought on your own. the answer is obvious, the question is if you want to recognice it or not. This is where the wheat will come from the chaff. Do you want truth, or do you want to hold favorites before it?

I think I know what Robert Bolt was talking about in that quote...
Anyway, the answer's not so obvious to me! We can create a constitution based on "natural law" but then that would be the complete opposite of natural law. Or we can just enforce those rules. Like, if someone steals something, we try them in court, if they are guilty, then we make them pay or whatever. It is simple, but I find it hard to believe that we'll escape the cycle. Throughout history, you have enlightened revolutions, you have books like the quran written, but then people ignore their messages and revert back to whatever their systems based on superstitions and what not. How do you stop that from happening? -

by being sovereign. By not handing over your power to anyone, who insist they will protect you, because eventually, that is excactly what they are not going to do. Be fierce, and be fearless. If confronted with tyranny, say a thug gang, attack them of they threaten you, even at the cost of your life, and go at it to kill. If everyone has this attitude, just like animals has this attitude. The true criminals will drop in numbers, simply because its easyer to take care of themself than have to fight over every single little penny they get with their life on the line.
All systems are a lie, ALL systems! are dreamt up in the mind of powermongers and ceacars, and then sugarcoated with flowery words and fortune cookie wisdom. become what you was intended. The man beast. Not the man bitch.
We have in our capacity to be genuinely good towards eachother and caring, and those who are so, will always be so, properbly especially without a system to manipulate them. And those who are evil, needs to face such fierce, and fearless resistance, that the thought alone becomes frightening to them. In the tribe i would be part of, like im part of one now, that is the attitude. ALL is welcome here, if they behave well, if they dont we will show them the door, and they wont even know what hit them. it is not a military force, the whole camp is a militia, so as soon as trouble makers on the townsquare gets spotted, everyone in sight get up (men, women, children, i mean EVERYONE), and yell for reinforcement. You should see this happen, i have seen more than one group of thugs totally loose all the bravery they had when they realised they just pissed of the whole village and that noone is going to back down nomatter the cost. Usually it ends with them running faster than the wind in a storm of flying rocks, sticks, industrial strength firecrackers, and those who get caught gets beaten to a pulp and left at the doorstep.
We dont needs systems, we need consensus when we are together. If someone is caught stealing, they are exposed at the next town gathering and is given the choice to hand it back, or leave in shame. If they hand it back there are no hard feelings, we all fail. If someone is stealing and not caught, they have the benefit of doubt. And it is not looked highly upon to spread rumours as it threaten the whole.
Consensus takes a lot of time, and debating an issue can take years, but that is the price. You cannot manipulate a consensus democracy in any way from the hidden. You have to go out to each individual and manipulate them, and good luck with that!. In a consensus democracy, evil cannot hide in the shadows, and is easily seen and exposed.
There are no raising of hands. Either there is totaly agreement, or there isnt. And if there isnt, were not done debating. The only thing in a society that needs here and now action are physical attacks from the outside, but we dont need to vote on that. Attack us and youll get it, and a lot more, and this is a spinal reflex from everyone.There are no leaders, all can speak freely at the gatherings, and thus is personally responsible for all that is said. If you dont participate in the gatherings, obviously the group can reach a consensus without you, thats just too bad for you. Democracy in any way only work if youre actually present to be heard anyway.
If you dont understand the principles im outlining here by heart. You just havent got it. And you still need human gods to guide you safely. This world is not a safe place, get over it. that would be my summary. )

I didnt read this entire thread, but I saw the question posed about the majority being "wrong" and how can we change society with that statistic. Based on what I have learned, we dont need everyone to reach the level of righteousness as we should strive for. What we find is that most peole are FOLLOWERS (follow what thier fathers followed, ect). There is a metaphor in the chinese I ching which speaks about THE WELL. It symbolizes CULTURE because everyone from the town comes to the well to get "water" to take back to thier families fro nourishment, and that is exactly what Culture does. TV, Radio, plays, movies, art work, etc all of this needs to be taken over by the FEW people, the community that calls to righteousness, and therefore the majority will begin to change subconciosly, the VERY SAME WAY they are changing for the worse right now due to Wicked Culture.
To take a quick example, many people will hear a song on the radio and dont like it, but it will be played over and over and over again on radio, in clubs, on tv commercials until people eventually like it. So WHATEVER is played on the radio wether good or bad, will eventually be "liked" by the majority.
