      Salam.

Well, if you can't find it in The Quran, than i think we can guess where it came from.
I'd like to know the exact translation of the word.

      Peace.

                    peace all

                    it's the holiday of sacrifice.

hence, the slaughtering of the sheep to feed the poor from it as well as your family

beautiful holiday with a beautiful meaning if you ask me

                    good food too

                      Salam,

Well a feast is always nice but the slaughterings NO, I don't like it, poor animals who get their throats slit up yuck.

But KSA seems to like that part not only on animals ooops!!!!

                      Peace Maria

It means celebration/festival of the sacrifice...

                          It's to commemorate Ibrahim's sacrifice..

It's not an after hajj party it falls during the hajj time, while the pilgrims are on hajj. On the 9th of dhul hijja is Arafat day, they go up to Mount Arafat to pray ask forgiveness bla bla the next day is the 10th of dhul hijja that's when eid al adha is celebrated. That's when everyone is supposed to sacrifice a sheep or something and give it to the poor...
