There was a loooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnngggggggggggggg debate going on about pork weather it causes harm. I used to work at deli and i have handled pork. I took this oppertunity to run some experiments becoz like you, i too require evidence to beleive something. From my experiments, i could see wy pork was forbidden. I have no doubt believing that pork is harmful. As for running blood, dead meat and alcohol... they have their obvious reasons for their restrictions.

Peace jaxal. Do you think alcohol is haram in any amount or only if it is likely to lead to loss of intellect. Are foods haram because of what they are or by what they do. I appreciate the dialogue.

Peace enquirer
The Quran has huge list for the DO & SO NOT
this will be great to exctract it all, but will require a long time indeed, but I believe it is worth it
Peace be with you

I have no doubt believing that pork is harmful.
This is an interesting concept. However in this day and age with freezers and storing facility this arguement becomes very weak.
However what you might find more curious is that in genetic terms pig is probably the nearest animal to humans. The insulin derived from pigs has been used extensively in diabetic patients. Pigs organs are the ones that suffer the least rejection, compared to other animals, when implanted in humans.
Our knowldge at present is still very limited. Much in the Quran will only become cleare as our knowldge increasses.regards

Peace ahmedbaghat. I agree there are many acceptable and unacceptable behaviours in the quran. A basic principle is that the prohibited is what is not beneficial/healthy for mankind and the permitted is what is beneficial/healthy for mankind. (quran;7157). The basic principles are further explained in the quran, the universe and the conscience.(the true awareness given by god). what do you think?

Peace stilllearning. I think yours is an enlightened response. As time goes by and understanding can increase by gods permission, we can try to ascertain what causes harm or not. Thus we can try to think what is haram/halal in light of the principles of the book. I think this requires an open mind and soul-searching along with experience/study of creation.

Hi all,
I have a query regarding pig being haram.
I was handed a real long list of ingredients/codes which supposedly indicate the presence of pig ingredients as animal fat/emuslifiers/vitamins etc in normal food, eg in biscuits, chocolates, and pretty much everything that u can buy in a supermarket.
Here's the link
http//www.iccservices.org.uk/halal_food_meat/halal_haram_ingredients.htmDo we need to follow through this????
Do chemicals(in minute amounts) used as ingredients make the food haram??Peace!

Hi Jaxal,
Damn. If i was you, i would take that list and burn it. looooolll. Useless.
I know what u mean.
I know traditional muslims who stick to it.I was just curious.
So, should 'pig' be the main ingredient for the food to be really haram?
Whats the criteria?
any clue?
coz most of the food contain one or the other listed ingredients in minute amounts. -

WEll i stay away from pork and everything that has pork in it. Like the other day i was looking at something to cook and i came across this joint of meat. I was like yayyyyyyyyy roast meat joint. But then i looked and it said 'with pork stuffing' . looooll So i would stay away from stuff like that. As far chocklates and all that goes and the ingredients, well... i have never even looked at the ingredients. So i may have been eating some food eith some fatty acid comming from pig . I dont think God will hold me to that becoz ithink that is stupid. No doubt every chips, ice cream, biscuit and juice has something in it that comes from that pig. But God didnt made haram for me the fatty acid or the blah blah acid . God said dont eat pork. And i dont eat pork D
