    Salam,

    1. God chooses messengers from amongst the Angels (almala-ikati) and from amongst mankind. God is Hearer, Seer.

    2. Say I do not say to you that I posses Gods treasures, nor do I know the future, nor do I say to you that I am an Angel (malakun). I merely follow what is inspired to me. Say Are the blind and the seer the same?; do you not think?

    3. So perhaps you wish to ignore some of what has been inspired to you, and you are depressed by it, because they Say If only a treasure was sent down with him, or an Angel (malakun) had come with him! You are but a warner, and God is caretaker over all things.

    4. Nor do I say to you that I have the treasures of God, nor do I know the future, nor do I say that I am an Angel (malakun), nor do I say to those whom your eyes look down upon that God will not grant them any good. God is more aware of what is in their souls; in such case I would be among the wicked.

    5. Say If the Earth had Angels (mala-ikatun) walking about in security, We would have sent down to them from heaven an Angel (malakan) as a messenger.

    Any comment appreciated.

    Thanks

        Hello Marie

I would like to add my thoughts regrading the verses you posted, and certainly a few other verses that might be related directly or indirectly

This is a very confusing issue and sure the confusion was caused by the humans themselves, for years I read books by Arabic and Westerners writers claiming that a Nabi does not mean a Messenger, as if a Messenger should have to be accompanied with a scripture while a Nabi does not have a scripture to deliver.

Well their confusion evolved into further confusion regarding the Malaika and their role as Messengers.

I really don?t understand where all these people coming from, I tried hard for years to understand them but never ever managed of swallow their non sense.

I don?t really need to search hard to refute their non sense, because the Quran always does it for me.

The most important note we should be aware of is the meaning of Nabi and Messenger in A

Messenger is anyone who IS SENT to deliver a message ?Verbal or in Writing? to another person or just IS SENT to do something ?No delivery is required?, for example, if I tell someone please tell my father in Egypt that I will come to Cairo on Xmas, hence that person will be called a messenger because he/she was sent by me to deliver a verbal message to my father

Also if I tell my father to just go to the Australian Embassy in Cairo and get some important documents that I need, then my father is also called a messenger, the noun ?Messenger? is based on the fact the these people ARE SENT BY SOMEONE not to deliver something

All prophets MUST be messengers because ALL OF THEM WERE SENT BY ALLAH

Nabi is a bit different from Messenger, it means someone who will talk about the unknown with confidence i.e. will deliver a verbal / in writing message, the present tense verb is ?Yonab?i?, and this is a common Arabic word which is used when someone trying to guess the future or the unknown past simply it means PREDICT. We can see clearly that all prophets did that exactly, ?Nabba?oo? about many subjects, like God, Judgment day, and many other things, consequently ALL OF THEM must be Anbiaa, because all of them had this task to do as well which is to deliver a message

We can see clearly the link between the two words, A Nabi will deliver something that is UNLNOWN and consequently he is a Nabi because he is like PREDICTING THE UNKNOWNS, but He was also SENT by Allah ?hence he is also a Messenger. HENCE ALL PROPHETS ARE ANBIAA BECAUSE THEY HAD A MESSAGE TO DELIVER AND ARE MESSENGERS AT THE SAME TIME BECAUSE THEY WERE SENT BY ALLAH, what I just said must lead to the following

We can refer to any prophet as any of the following

        1. A Nabi ( Because he predicted the unknown and delivered a verbal message or a message in writing )
        2. A Messenger ( Because he was SENT by Allah)
        3. A Nabi & A Messenger at the same time

Let?s look at a few examples from the Quran

?(All) people are a single nation; so Allah raised prophets as bearers of good news and as warners, and He revealed with them the Book with truth, that it might judge between people in that in which they differed; and none but the very people who were given it differed about it after clear arguments had come to them, revolting among themselves; so Allah has guided by His will those who believe to the truth about which they differed and Allah guides whom He pleases to the right path.?

        (213)

-> We can see from 2213 that Allah called the prophets ?Nabaieen? as well He mentioned that He sent books with them, if Messengers means only the prophets who had a message to deliver then we have a contradiction here, hence ?Nabaieen? are all the prophets because regardless they have scriptures with them or not they were "the bearers of good news and as warners", this clearly explain the role or a Nabi which is to predict ?I?m just using it loose here to make it easy to understand? the good news and act as a Warner.

?What kept men back from belief when Guidance came to them, was nothing but this they said, 'Has Allah sent a man (like us) to be (His) Messenger?'"

        (94)

-> In 1794, we can see how they described the human BEEN SENT as a Messenger, this add weight to my argument that a Messenger is someone who IS SENT, the Quran actually described the prophets who were sent as ?Mursaleen? the Wazn of ?Rasool? is ?Faool? which indicates that the Rasool fulfilled THE SEDING BY ALLAH

?So the king said 'Bring ye him unto me.' But when the messenger came to him, (Joseph) said "Go thou back to thy lord, and ask him, 'What is the state of mind of the ladies who cut their hands'? For my Lord is certainly well aware of their snare."

        (50)

-> Here is another good example that will add weight to my argument regarding the meaning of ?Rasool?, in 1250 we see how an ordinary human was called ?Rasool? because he was sent by the Aziz to bring prophet Yusuf out of jail to him, now this Rasool has no books neither a verbal message to deliver, rather a task to do which is bring Yusuf to the Aziz ? ? translated perfectly as ?Bring ye him unto me?

?Say We believe in Allah and (in) that which had been revealed to us, and (in) that which was revealed to Ibrahim and Ismail and Ishaq and Yaqoub and the tribes, and (in) that which was given to Musa and Isa, and (in) that which was given to the prophets from their Lord, we do not make any distinction between any of them, and to Him do we submit.?

        (136)

-> Again in 2136 we can see all the prophets mentioned were described as ?Nabaioon? as well it was stated that they were given something to deliver.

?The messenger believes in what has been revealed to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers; they all believe in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers; We make no difference between any of His messengers; and they say We hear and obey, our Lord! Thy forgiveness (do we crave), and to Thee is the eventual course.?

        (285)

-> Then in 2285, All the Anbiaa were called ?Rusul?, because all of them were SENT by Allah.

?Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but (he is) the Messenger of Allah, and the Seal of the Prophets and Allah has full knowledge of all things.?

        (40)

-> In 3340 we can see Mohammad was described as ?Khatim Al Nabaieen? and was also called ?Rasool Allah?. Please note by just saying it ?Rasool Allah? it clearly means that Mohammad was sent by Allah that is why he is called ?Rasool Allah? not because he had a message to deliver rather he was a Nabi because he had a message to deliver.

?It is not fitting for a man that Allah should speak to him except by inspiration, or from behind a veil, or by the sending of a messenger to reveal, with Allah's permission, what Allah wills for He is Most High, Most Wise.?

        (51)

-> We can see above that the words Rasool came straight after the verb ?Yorsel? ?send?, i.e. the Rasool is called as such because he was sent by Allah

?And your Lord best knows those who are in the heavens and the earth; and certainly We have made some of the prophets to excel others, and to Dawood We gave a scripture.?

        (55)

-> In 1755 we can see how Allah differentiated between the ?Nabaieen? by giving scriptures to some ?Anbiaa? this in effect means what the Nabi will be predicting will be documented and it will have a stronger merit than just a verbal message as it happend with other Anbiaa.

?And We did not send any messenger but that he should be obeyed by Allah's permission; and had they, when they were unjust to themselves, come to you and asked forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger had (also) asked forgiveness for them, they would have found Allah Oft-returning (to mercy), Merciful.?

        (64)

-> We can see in 464 how a prophet were called a ?Rasool? in association with the verb ?Arsala? ?Sent? i.e. they are called ?Rusl? because they were sent by Allah.

From all the above we can see clearly that All prophets are "Anbiaa" because they had something to say that other humans didn?t know, while they were also called ?Rusul? because they were sent by Allah, i.e. they were chosen by Allah, but Allah can surely choose whoever human or malak to act as a rasool

?Allah chooses messengers from angels and from men for Allah is He Who hears and sees (all things).?

        (75)

-> As we can see that Allah may choose a human or an angel to act as a rasool, we know many examples of the Rusul Humans, and Allah has given us many examples of the Rusul He chooses from the angels

?Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private counsels? Indeed (We do), and Our messengers are by them, to record.?

        (80)

-> Clear from 4380, that the angels who record our deeds are called ?Rusul?, obviously those angels have no message to deliver to anyone rather they have been assigned a task to do and that is one of the common meaning of Rasool as I explained earlier.

?When Our Messengers came to Abraham with the good news, they said "We are indeed going to destroy the people of this township for truly they are (addicted to) crime.?

        (31)

-> Another clear example that shows the angels as Rusul because they were sent by Allah to punish the people of Gomorrah and Sodom, in their way to do the task assigned to them, they stopped by prophet Abraham to do another task.

69- ?There came Our messengers to Abraham with glad tidings. They said, 'Peace!' He answered, 'Peace!' and hastened to entertain them with a roasted calf.?

70- ?But when he saw their hands went not towards the (meal), he felt some mistrust of them, and conceived a fear of them. They said 'Fear not We have been sent against the people of Lut.'"

        (69)
        (70)

-> Same angels were called Rusul in another location talking about the same exact thing when they met Abraham, you will also read clearly how they told Abraham their task as follow ? ? ? We have been sent against the people of Lut.?,

?And when Our Messengers came to Lut, he was grieved on their account, and felt himself powerless (to protect) them but they said "Fear thou not, nor grieve we are (here) to save thee and thy following, except thy wife she is of those who lag behind.?

        (33)

-> Soon after 2931, we read in 2933 how the same angels were called Rusul when they met prophet Lut.

?When Our messengers came to Lut, he was grieved on their account and felt himself powerless (to protect) them. He said "This is a distressful day."

        (77)

-> Same angels were called Rusul again

?And He is the Supreme, above His servants, and He sends keepers over you; until when death comes to one of you, Our messengers cause him to die, and they are not remiss.?

        (61)

-> Another example of calling the angels Rusul because they have been assigned a task which is according to 661 is to cause us to die. The angels of death were called Rusul, because they were sent by Allah and they will fulfil what is assigned to them as ?Rusul?

?Say I do not say to you, I have with me the treasures of Allah, nor do I know the unseen, nor do I say to you that I am an angel; I do not follow aught save that which is revealed to me. Say Are the blind and the seeing one alike? Do you not then reflect??

        (50)

-> What Allah is telling the prophet to say here is facts that should be delivered to the people, one of these facts was to refute a flaw in the people understanding that if Allah will send a Rasool to the humans, He has send it as an angel, so simply the prophet is confirming that He is not misleading them by telling them that he is an angel in a human shape, the same was told by Noah to his people and that is a strong proof that it was a common and flawed human understanding

?And I (Noah) do not say to you that I have the treasures of Allah and I do not know the unseen, nor do I say that I am an angel, nor do I say about those whom your eyes hold in mean estimation (that) Allah will never grant them (any) good-- Allah knows best what is in their souls-- for then most surely I should be of the unjust.?

        (31)

The point is Allah wanted to send a human Rasool to the rest of the humans NOT a malak rasool, and as a further refute to their flawed understanding that Allah must send a malak Rasool to the humans, Allah said further

?Say, ?If there were settled, on earth, angels walking about in peace and quiet, We should certainly have sent them down from the heavens an angel for a messenger."

        (95)

-> The point Allah is making here is simple that if the creatures on earth are angels ?freewill will be given to them like us exactly?, then Allah would have sent a Malak Rasool to guide them. I believe this verse is designed to expose the ignorance of those who think that Allah must send a Malak Rasool to the humans. In fact if Allah wanted to do that He would have made that Malak Rasool look like a human and those ignorant will stay confused because they will fail to know that that human look alike is an angel, here is the verses

9- ? And if We had made him angel, We would certainly have made him a man, and We would certainly have made confused to them what they make confused.?

10- "And certainly messengers before you were mocked at, but that which they mocked at encompassed the scoffers among them.?

        (9)
        (10)

-> Their desire of having a Malak as a Rasool for the humans was nothing but mocking the Human Rusul Allah sent to them as we can see from 610

The simple point that those ignorant can?t understand is, if Allah will send a real Malak as a Rasool to guide humans, then the objective of the test is defeated and the Game is Over, here is the verse

?They say ?Why is not an angel sent down to him??, If we did send down an angel, the matter would be settled at once, and no respite would be granted them."

        (

-> That is why if Allah will send a Malak to us through this test, that Malak must look like humans so the test is not defeated and hence we will never know that he is a Malak as stated in 69, explained earlier.

?Perchance thou mayest (feel the inclination) to give up a part of what is revealed unto thee, and thy heart feeleth straitened lest they say, ?Why is not a treasure sent down unto him, or why does not an angel come down with him?? But thou art there only to warn! It is Allah that arrangeth all affairs!?

        (12)

-> And finally here is their silly request that is based on a flawed and common understanding, because if this will be granted ?an angel come down with him?, then according to 68 ?the matter would be settled at once, and no respite would be granted them.?

        Allah knows best

        Thanks for reading

            Peace be upon you Marie,

            1. God chooses messengers from amongst the Angels (almala-ikati) and from amongst mankind. God is Hearer, Seer.

Yes, only the human at peace can have controlled thoughts(malaika), as oppossed to emotional thougts(shayteen). PEACE be upon you.

            1. Say ?I do not say to you that I posses God?s treasures, nor do I know the future, nor do I say to you that I am an Angel (malakun). I merely follow what is inspired to me.? Say ?Are the blind and the seer the same?; do you not think??

A human should not call himself a "malaika" because there are times when his emotions get the best of him , like fear, which caused this messenger to withhold revelation at one point.

            1. So perhaps you wish to ignore some of what has been inspired to you, and you are depressed by it, because they Say ?If only a treasure was sent down with him, or an Angel (malakun) had come with him!? You are but a warner, and God is caretaker over all things.

Mankind has faulty views about "malaika". This verse is actualy good proof for the previous explanation. Depression comes from emotion, therefore not "malaika".

            1. ?Nor do I say to you that I have the treasures of God, nor do I know the future, nor do I say that I am an Angel (malakun), nor do I say to those whom your eyes look down upon that God will not grant them any good. God is more aware of what is in their souls; in such case I would be among the wicked.?

            2. Say ?If the Earth had Angels (mala-ikatun) walking about in security, We would have sent down to them from heaven an Angel (malakan) as a messenger.?

            See above explanations.

              SaLaM sis Marie

You underlined 'messengers' in the verse. Would you consider Jibrael to be a messenger Since it was him who brought the Quran to Prophet Muhammad.
