Question ayat 2:142-144
-
Salaam All
To my understanding of these verses, it seems to me that there was only one location of the Qiblah as mentioned in verse 2143
"And We appointed the Qiblah to which thou was used, only to test those who followed The Messenger from those who would turn on thier heels."
As we read further in verse 2144 " We see the turning of thy face to the HEAVENS now shall we turn thee to a Qiblah that shall please thee. Turn then thy face in the direction of the Sacred Mosque."
This tells me that the Sacred Mosque was already established. When the momentous change was made they were facing the HEAVENS and not another location of a Mosque. So I guess my question is where is The Sacred Mosque?
Excuse the extractions I'm just trying to get my point across.
Peace...

Peace be upon you Brennetta,
First we need to translate the statement "al masjid al haraam".
It refers to the "place of hearing and obeying the restrictions". The direction/focus(qibla) of ALL MANKIND is in the skies (the outer life), but when we recieve the message of the God, we are directed WITHIN our Being. Musa was told to take his shoes off because the journey requires no physical travel. We "hear and oey" the God from within our very being. The God is closer than the jugular vein. No need to search the skies for the God. The anciets realized hat the heavenly bodies exert influence over mankind and so the idea that the God is in the skies became popular , but we are being corrected.
The black cube in Mecca is an idol that must be rejected.
