what about woman, from adam ribs ? is tht the reason many people like eating ribs grilled or fried!

For me personally, "Eve" is much too Biblical -- thus, it gives more myth than the actual lesson. (Perhaps because I'm an Indonesian)
In Indonesian, Eve = Hawa. Interestingly enough, the word Hawa is also used in 7940 which is translated as "desires" (which has the connotation of being unhealthy or unconstructive). This gives me a very different meaning than Adam+Eve translations.
I don't consider "Adam and his spouse/mate/companion" to be Adam the man + Hawa the woman. In fact, I no longer see Adam as merely an individual, rather than Adam was also a symbol.
Adam is the state or the n-th stage of our development (872, 954, etc). Thus the episode between Adam, Iblis, and Malaikats are the n-th episode of our beautiful story. )

Qur'an teaches us that Allah Taala created Adam female partner without mentioning the name Eve. The other memembers already pointed that out that Eve comes from Old Testament. Then we have hadith which is am sure imported from Old Testament that women are crooked because they were created by Adam rib.
You can learn a lot just search Qur'an for a particular subject.

Don't forget the verse (don't have the refs ready at the moment) that says humankind were created from the one soul (nafs wahidah) and her wife (zaujaha).
