    As Salaam Alaikum,

So Sunday I decided to go to my grandmother's church because she was becoming a member... I went out of respect for her.

There I was there and though I didn't believe most of hte stuff they were saying, inside I got a little upset... not at them, but at Muslims. The reason?

Because I felt spritually robbed. The reason is because women were actively involve in that church... really it was only just one man I can recall working in the church, and that was the preacher. Women were speaking, reading stuff, blah, blah and I just got so upset.

I was thinking that I will probbaly never be able to really participate in my mosque like that because of alot of stuff that Muslims believe in. ANd just the shame that people create between the sexes.

I felt spirtually robbed. Realization seemed to had hit me... I will probably never lead a man in salat, or give a khutbah. If so, it would be in privacy, not publicly.

I just feel that my spiritual being has been belittle, robbed, and that spreading the knowledge is something that I will never be able to do unless it's only to women. I hate the thought that if I preach to males it would only cause a controversy.

    I'm pissed!

    salaam

      Salam,

I think your observation is true. Churches, at least here in the US, have a better situation for women than in many mosques.

Although I'm not sure that "woman speaking in public" thing is appropriate by Biblical (NT) rules, it happens nonetheless.

As far as I know, Muslim women (in the "traditionalists" view) are allowed to preach to people in general. Of course she has to follow guidelines. But I know of quite a few da'iyahs (callers to Islam) ...

If you meant leadership, well, even the Christians fight about women as leaders. -)

salam sister first of all i think according to bible women are not suppose to speak in church

Let your women keep silence in the churches for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. (1 Corinthians 1434)"

"I permit no women to teach or have authority over men, she is to keep silent"
        1 Timothy 212

i wonder how come women speak in church ?

          Peace girls,

don't be too ****** off, even though it is a normal reaction. I always wonder about the women that just take it. Used to react very aggresively but the more i advance in age, the more i just have pity with those people.

Why do christian women preach in some churches Because the christians better understood by now that their text has been influenced by male chauvisnism, as it's a translation anyway and has been rewritten so many times, it is easier even for hard-core christian to accept this idea of transcending the written word.

In the general muslim view of the quran being the direct word of god, this is more difficult. And most muslims have no idea that the interpretation is often flawed. But muslim women start moving, see

Woman literally ran the church I grew up in. men were kept aropund for heavy lifting and to cook and serve women meals on Mother's day. We had a female decon that has since become the assistent preist. Women cleaned the church, ran the fundraisers, kept the sunday school in order, wrote and kept up on the monthly bulliten, kept the altar in order (ordering the flowers candles and such) and even took over the acolyte (altar boy for you catholics) department. they ran the choir, took care of the nursery and handles the church landscaping. Men did heavy lifting, physical maintenence, comedy routines to keep the women in good spirits, and rightly stayed out of the way of estrogen (fast learners) It was sort of an exagerated example of any normal household

              Hello everybody

this is really one thing which annoys me again and again. And the most obvious and visible it becomes when you see the part of the mosque (the "real"mosque) where the men pray, and then the sepererated roof or upper part of the mosque where we women have to pray. In 90% of the cases the women part is never approximatley as nice as the mens part. It is a shame where they let us pray in compare to the mens mosque! evil This is only one reason why I prefer to uphold prayers together even if women and men are divided by a veil or something. It is still nicer and more beneficial spiritually than in a messy sideroom.

Women cleaned the church, ran the fundraisers, kept the sunday school in order, wrote and kept up on the monthly bulliten, kept the altar in order (ordering the flowers candles and such) and even took over the acolyte (altar boy for you catholics) department. they ran the choir, took care of the nursery and handles the church landscaping

Well, this is the way I know it from mosques too. Women here are quite engaged in running the mosque, running the school of the mosque, preparations of ceremonys, eids, any kind of festivity. But all this happens within the women section only and of course the important decisions are not taken from women but men.

Another point where I feel spiritually robbed is when I see in "islamic" citys the little corners for prayers - but again only for men. What? Don't I have the same wish and right to fulfill my prayers when I feel like it?

There is one terrible Hadith going around (I guess from our friend Abu Hureira) which says that women cannot reach the same spiritual feelings as men do ... and it is believed brickwall

Well I have never heard that one LOL I think most christian churches have surpassed this crap and learned that MEN means HUMAN in most cases. it is like that with any text written before a certain time. For some reason humans have always gravitated toward men having the ultimate say. I always loved the line in My big Fat Grrek wedding. "Men may be the HEAD of the household but women are the neck which can turn the head in any direction she wonts" Christians churches just seem to have surrendered to this truth LOL

                  Peace be upon you,

Women are more spiritual then men. While both sexes have the "yin" and "yang" within them, men have more "yang" and women have more "yin". These establish teh roles each should play in life. It is the YIN, the going WITHIN that is most powerful and the woman should be uplifted. But the wicked cultures going around suppress the woman.

Regarding being an "imam" and all that, if you are not a sunni going to a sunni Mosque, why is it a concern? You are FREE! D Hallelujah lol Stand up sister! D

Seruiously though, you are free, you can preach to your own congregation the truths we are uncovering right here. We dont (at least I dont) belong to the Arab religion of Islam. We belong to the MINDSET of peacefulness(islam) and we proclaim the Universal Law man and woman alike. Do not fall into the trap of thinking that prophets and messengers are all MALES, they are all mankind, not MALES. We are given the symbolisms from the male perspective to show the direction of giving(male) and reciving(female), which is why we have the story of Marium as the pure RECIEVER of the God's energy which gave birth to the WILL(Isa).

Dont look at the Christians an what they do, while there is certainly some good things that come out of the church, they are a confused bunch, homosexuals are taking them over anyway. Pretty soon they will have the total opposite going on in there as to what is stated in thier book.
