Confused over all the Confusion:
-
Salaam All!
I just wanted to say that I am really getting confused over all the Confusion on the different topics Concerning the Quran etc.Isnt the Quran suppose to be complete and hasn't left any thing out?
Here's some examples
-
Prayers2,3,or 5?Tradition says five and I see 5 in the Quran as I have said on other posts.Yet some only see 2 or 3..The Quran should be clear or it doesnt matter.
-
Pilgriamage and where to go?Some say to Mecca, some say Jerusalem and others say no where..But I see the Quran saying its a place. If the Quran doesnt say where it is,then its unclear,if it was one place and the Islamic community tried to change it then the early followers of Muhammed would have threw a fit..so why change it?Does it matter if Mecca existed prior to Muhammed as a big city or not,I dont see why it should, just because it wasnt on maps and wasnt an important city before Islam doesnt mean it wasnt there. My town wasnt on most maps until the last few decades, but its been here since 1824.
-
Calendar? Some say follow the traditional one and others say we should devise one with an intercalary month and that the calendar should be fixed..Well does the Quran state that it should have a 13th month and that it is to be fixed.I havent seen it in the Quran,so why change? The Quran is enough,So theres no need to change it or that we are not allowed to change it.
-
Head coverings? We all know that the Quran speaks of some sort of covering that covers the bosooms. Some say this covering should include the hair others say it shouldnt, theres good points for both sides.I think if women choose to do so then thats fine or if they choose not to wear one its fine..Thats between her and Allah..As long as women dress modestly that doesnt show their form then I believe its acceptable to Allah and same goes for men.Traditions are good also, but to say that they are Allahs law is putting words into the mouth of Allah.
-
Some condemn all Traditions of Islaam, just because they follow Quran alone.. and hate everything that sounds or seems Islamic,I dont see this as good judgement because its destroying Culture and heritage..Just because something isnt in the Quran doesnt mean that its evil or isnt of good value..And Im not saying that we should follow hadiths, sunnahs and traditions that are obviously anti Quran and that promote supressing others etc..that would be going against Allah.
My points Being
All the confusion over the different issues, makes the Quran seem not to be complete as the Quran states and as we all keep saying..and makes Quran Alone Muslims seem more indifferent and confused than Traditionalist.
It also makes Quran Alone Muslims look mixed up,because we keep saying the Quran is complete and has left nothing out, and that we need no guidence from any other source, but at the same time we cant all come to the same conclusions on most issues,so this makes us seem like idiots and makes the Quran seem incomplete..
Since we are for Quran alone then somehow we have to come to a general agreement on the issues, because otherwise it makes the Quran Alone Idea look obsurd and foolish to most. For exampleOne person says 5 another says 3 prayers, well unfortunaltely this makes it look like the Quran isnt Complete and that we do need other words to clear it up whether we admit it or not,one way this seems correct is the fact we keep asking each other and asking websites whats right and whats wrong..We may not be looking to Hadiths or Sunnah for the answers, but we are looking..see my point?
Quran Alone Muslims need to atleast make these statements on their sites
- When The Quran doesnt give specific details on an issue then Allah leaves us up to decide on it or he would have made it plain in the Quran...therefore if The Quran is silent or doesnt give detail on an issue then we should use our own judgement.
But even then,we as an Islamic Community would not be unified.

i felt the same way when i came to this forum. There are a million topics and everyone seems to differ on everyone of them.
confusing indeed.
I think that happens because (1) the quran can have different interpretations to different people, (2) we are all trying to find out the truth and we (or just I) believe that everyone's views should be put out there to be discussed and debated so that we are sure that we're headed in the right direction, and (3) there are some things in the quran who's meanings have been so distorted that it has become difficult to find the truth (like hajj).and i think something that would help with the debates would be a list of issues that most people agree on and another list of issues that people don't see eye to eye on. I think it would help in debating if we can define some key points that people generally agree. Or something like that.

Peace JHamza,
Yes, few people agree on even what would seem simple matters. There are several unavoidable reasons for this;
First, not everyone understands Arabic and so some people will have greater insights into meaning than others. (at least, initially) Second, the Quran is not a book that just anyone can comprehend (5679). Third, the Quran is a book that requires study and God's help to understand (9122, 9127, 4724) By coming together here, we can help each other to study and thereby reach a greater understanding - even if our understandings differ.
"For each of you, we have decreed laws and different rites. Had God willed, He could have made you one congregation. But He thus puts you to the test through the revelations He has given each of you. You shall compete in righteousness. To God is your final destiny - all of you - then He will inform you of everything you had disputed." 548
Therefore what is most important as we journey towards this greater understanding, is that we must not forget to do the righteous works that please God, and continually strive to do them? How? "Whether you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God" 1 Cor 1031?"...The best among you in the sight of God is the most righteous..." 4913, 2177

From verse 1187, you should know that solat is not ritual prayer. There are a lot of places in the Quran where you cannot translate solat as ritual prayer like 9103.
As for me solat is our commitment as a human. Everything God create have their solat. For the bees, their solat is to pollinate the plants, wasp their solat is to control the population of the bees, trees is to produce oxygen and food, fly to clean the dead animals etc.
Regards.

Salaam gclandcp,
Yes I understand that salaat doesnt always mean prayers, but it referring to our commitments in prayer to Allah in the surahs I am referring to..We are to be commited to Allah at all times,so why would Allah tell us to just be commited to him at different parts of the day,it doesnt make since. We are to be commited to Allah in Prayer at appointed times..
SalahA devote form of spiritual communication between man and Allah. The most popular form is Prayer.
