Reformist Muslims Announce a Cartoon and Drawing Competition "Muhammad, a Messenger of Peace."
As islamic reformers and progressive muslims, we are announcing an award for a cartoon/portrait of Muhammad that would depict him accurately as a human being and a messenger of peace and progress. We will publish the winning portrait at www.19.org and in our upcoming "The Quran A Reformist Translation." We may also publish many other submissions of high quality. We will use the income from the book to promote the message of the Islamic Reform movement.
Our next step will be to make a computer animated feature film about Muhammad's life. In that film, Muhammad will be represented by a human figure, not a camel, as in the movie, "The Message," where Anthony Quinn played Muhammad's uncle.

In that regard, we applaud the people of Denmark for not censoring their media. History has proven that truth and justice cannot flourish in an environment of suppression and oppression.
Though the cartoonists depicted and insulted our beloved prophet Muhammad, a figure whom we consider dearer to us than our fathers and mothers, we stand by the rights of cartoonists to express their views.
What? They should have only the "RIGHT" to express their views but not "EXPRESS" it - what kind of freedom is that?
Freedom without expression is like a mouth without a voice.
Though we defend their freedom of expression fully, we morally condemn the ignorant and perhaps malicious act of those cartoonists and the European media that published them.
Ignorant Cartoonist? I think not Mr. Edip! They were fully AWARE the reponse it will generate with the cartoons. And they have been proven right. Believe me they are not ignorant at all! It is the Traditional Islamic World that is very ignorant!
Had the cartoonists and the editors opened their eyes and connected the dots...
They have not only connected the Dots they have connected the bombs to the Islamic Fundamentalist Fascists. It was simple as that. They can see it in their doorstep the effects of Traditional Islamic theology in operation. Not only they could see it but also Reformist people like yourself can hear it too the call "Death to the Kaffirs" by Mullahs with Goatee Beards and Long Robes. Danes did not have to go to the Arab World for that. They could see it with their own eyes the subjugation of women, under heavy black veils, when they go to the supermarket for their groceries.
Similarly, anyone who has the knowledge of the Quran would not hesitate to distinguish between the terrorist Jihadis and Muhammad, the "Messenger of Peace."
It is the Traditionalist Islamic World that has to learn this message Mr. Edip Yuksel not the Danes.
The European media did not only insult one of the prophets, they also distorted the history of a great revolutionary leader who was a model peacemaker and defender of the rights of the oppressed; slaves, and women.
Again it is the Traditionalist Islamic World needs to understand this message first.
Numerous verses of the Quran and critical study of history will reveal that the portrait of Muhammad depicted in Sunni or Shiite hearsay books is fictional.
Again it is not the Job of the Danes to do this. It is the whole Traditionalist Islamic World that needs to wake up to the Truth of the Quranic Discourse.
A fiction created by the propagandists of rulers of Umayyad and Abbasid dynasties to justify their atrocities and aggression.

The West possesses excessive deposit of atomic bombs and high tech weapons, enormous amount of greed to suck the resources of the entire earth, and troops of religious and political leaders who can demonstrate the miracle of promoting wars and atrocities while at the same time singing peace and freedom with smirks on their faces.
Greed is not exclusive to the West. The Greed of the Saudis alone has sucked the Middle East dry.
On the other hand, the East possess oil and many other natural resources, enormous amount of ignorance, poverty and destitute, and troops of religious and political leaders who can mobilize masses and turn them to terrorists and suicide bombs.
East includes also Russia. They had their Great Experiment with Communism and that failed miserably but it did not turn Russians into terrorists and suicide bombers against the Capitalist West.
These are explosive ingredients for the clash of two so-called civilizations that might turn the planet earth to hell.
We had the protocols of M.A.D. the Mutally Assured Destructio between former Soviet Union and the rest of the World. But we have survived. Have faith in humanity Mr. Edip Yuksel - the Power of Heaven and Hell on this Earth is in our hands -)
The reaction of Sunni and Shiite masses around the world to the cartoon controversy has nothing to do with the precepts of Islam. The exaggerated reaction, the violent protests, the gun-touting mouth-foaming angry mobs underscores the fact that they do not care about the teaching of the Quran.
So you see Mr. Edip Yuksel, the Danes are not the ignorant. The whole Traditionalist Islamic world is in a slumber of Ignorance. It is the Islamic World that has to wake up from this sleep of Ignorance.
The silent majority is still watching; but they need to speak up soon. Otherwise, they will share the pain and tragedies invited by the active and loud fools among them.
I disagree on this with you Mr. Yuksel. 90% of the population of Pakistan and Bangladesh and many Muslim India support Bin Ladin and his henchmens. These majority may be silent but their support lies with them because they have been brought up on Traditionalist Hadiths teachings.
The angry and occasionally violent protests have only helped the agenda and propaganda of Evangelical warmongers who betray the message of peace and love delivered by Jesus, the son of Mary.
No, these violent protests reinforce the "bomb-head" mentality.
The Evangelical crusaders hope to flood the Middle East with blood in order to prepare for the second coming of Messiah.
Give up this Paranoia Mr. Edip Yuksel.
Through their irrational reactions, the so-called Muslim world lost the first round of the clash of civilizations.
Mr. Yuksel there is one civilisation and that is the civilisation of humanity. People who create divisions in their mind only do this out of a prejuidice. We are "Brits". We are "Spaniards"!!! We have to go beyond these labels and say we are Human Beings.
After the fall of communism, the global hegemony decided to create another monster.
This has been forseen by many. But the continued ignorance of the Traditionalist Islamic World has allowed this dream of a monster to come true.

In those and many other sectarian books, The Prophet Muhammad is falsely depicted as a torturing sadist, as a warmonger, as a tyrant, as a sex maniac, as a pedophile. Somehow, they are receptive to all the insults and defamation directed to Muhammad if they come in the form of a "holy hearsay" (holy hadith) story from a guy with a long Arabic name and beard who hypocritically praises Muhammad before spewing forth such vile statements. Muslims have become an irrational group that is described by verse 10100.

I think Cartoons should based on to the sources of hadith and sunna, such as Bukhari, Muslim, Ibni Hanbel, Abu Dawud, Tirmizi.
Title should be something like this Cartoons based on the Hadith. We might end up with a nice HATIDH CARTOON BOOK

I don't think it's necessary for us to draw Muhammad cartoons. Just draw simple normal cartoons with good message such as respect to parents, show love to young kids, respect your neighbours, respect also to non-muslims and so on. That is what Muhammad have delivered to us in Quran. lol

When the Prophet married Aisha, she was 6 years old, and the marriage was consummated when she was 9 (and he was 54) (Bukhari, Book of Nikah 375).Can you imagine a wedding ceremony, grown up man marriying a 6 years old child. This is sick. It is worse than Danish Cartoons. Here are some more examples.

Mahmood bin Rabe narrates, ?I still remember when I was five years old, the Holy Prophet rinsed his mouth and then poured the water into mine? (Kitabul Ilm vol.2, hadith 77). Could the Exalted Prophet hold any human being at that level of inferiority?

Prophet Solomon boasted that he would impregnate one hundred women in one night, but only one woman became pregnant and gave birth to a half-formed child (Bukhari, Book of Nikah 3110).

After the fall of Khyber, people described the beauty of Safia Bint Hui, the new bride of a slain enemy soldier. The Prophet chose her for himself. On the way to Madina he stopped and had intercourse with her. His companions did not know if she was a wife or a concubine. Later, a veil was drawn between her and the men-folk and they came to know that she was a wife (Bukhari, Book of Sales and Book of Nikah 359).

Perhaps that is exactly what is needed to awaken the Traditionalist Muslim World from the sleep of ignorance. Just as Salman Rushdie affair made many muslims examine their own conscious and look at religion in more a investigative way. So this could be in the long run a start of something better...sometimes when your own house is rotten it is right to say it is rotten so that it can be demolised and rebuilt with better foundation...Traditional Islam has become rotten to the core. The time has come to uproot it from the ground and start again...
