Origin of life

Peace "angel",
http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abiogenesis
I personally support panspermia http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abiogenesis#Panspermia since the Quran apparently supports it
Among His proofs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the living creatures(daaba) He spreads in THEM. He is able to summon them, when He wills.
Also this is the only way the existence of ONE GOD would remain solid since then ALL even the aliens would be related to us and all other living organisms and nobody could claim that a creature was made by a different god. It must be noted that though this may intially appear as to tranafer the problem elesewhere it does NOT. Consider the manxy elements which CAN ONLY BE PRODUCED IN THE STARS, AND NOT HERE ON EARTH. The first living cells could also have been generated/evolved on a unique planet from which then they were scattered throughout the universe. GOD Bless! -
yea but how many theories are there all together?
peace
Many many many theories. Countless really, I bet the blokes who built Stonehenge had their own theory on the origins of life. I like Scientology's theory on it though, life (on earth) came to be because evil galactic dictator Xenu brought billions of aliens to earth in DC-8 like spacecraft and blew them up with hydrogen bombs in volcanoes, this is according to the Church of Scientology. So how many theories, Probably as many as imaginations to think them up.

looool Rumi rotfl
no i mean scientific theories.
Ahh, abiogenesis the precursor to evolution. From my high school biology, we learnt that life formed from a "primordial soup" where by the conditions were perfect enough that organic molecules were created in an atmosphere that lacked oxygen with the help of sunlight. The these would get ever more intricate and complex able to synthesize on their own, fast forward billions of years we get simple animals, fish, insects, amphibians, reptiles, mammals, dinosaurs but they didn't last ignore, somewhere along the end of the line we developed from other primates.
I'm sure there are other theories but I think the one that taught me at high school was the consensus amongst the scientific community. I know of another theory that the origin of life on earth came from asteroids, which is also quite plausible. I'm not so sure if we can find something conclusive.
Whatever theory science has, it's not as imaginative as the evil dictator Xenu and DC 8 spaceships. O0

And Allah has created every animal from water of them there are some that creep on their bellies; some that walk on two legs; and some that walk on four. Allah creates what He wills for verily Allah has power over all things. (2445)

i quite like the African myth where God vomited the universe 'out' D it kinda reminds me of the big bang theory
regarding the theory that some organisms originated from nonliving material, how can scientists justify it without god. confused

We agree with that, Yusha. It's just that here, we're trying to explain the 'khalaq' thing. Especially when 2920 challenges us to see how khalaq happens.

Well, what's life?
i mean consciousness...
Consciousness is a quality of the mind generally regarded to comprise qualities such as subjectivity, self-awareness, sentience, sapience, and the ability to perceive the relationship between oneself and one's environment.
I hope you understand what i mean.

I agree with lobster, why do we need a first cause to start life? Life has always existed in one form or another,it just evolves to higher levels of conciousness and complexity or vice versa....Even sub atomic particles may be classed as life...
Life is energy, and energy cannot be created or destroyed....Energy just changes from one form to another...
A giant eternal recycling of energy is what constitutes the universe... -
Energy and consciousness are different, I think. And they both together form our world. God breathed energy into the consciousness to create us. This universe, as enquirer said ( welcome back, btw) is energy. Your consciousness I guess is your will, which commands, and the rest is energy with which your will does work. But if god is the will (god says "be" and it is?) then how does he create? with energy...but then the energy is seperate from god? I dunno, this is getting too complicated for me.
Anyway, the thing is that scientists don't believe in consciousness.
According to the quran, I believe, consciousness and thoughts are seperate (will and energy).
According to scientists, they are the same. Consciousness is the result of thoughts. So, the scientists say, the universe is energy, everything is energy, and all that can exist has to be energy, so there is no such thing as consciousness or free will (look at jonny k's posts), so there's no soul, so there's no need for god.
But the thing is, a lot of times science and religion say the same thing in different terms. I find that I agree often agree more with athiests than I do with members of this forum.

Peace all,
What do you think all the enrgy combined is? Ever thought of that? I suggest you quit the supernatural thought of GOD. And whether theres a need for God or not is also out of question since GOD's existence as the supreme intelligence is Inevitable as ive explained before. Btw Hawkins is now coming up with the theory that there had to be an infitely larghe universe from which all other universes evolved/derive. Now doesnt it click in your mind. infinite unvierse= infinte time to evolve= Infinite intelligence INEVITABLY evolved = therafter carries out aeverything and leaves nothing more upto chance. Its exactly what ive thought all along. I always knew when scientists claimed tht the universe came from nothing it was just a void filler which they cldnt explain yet. GOD Bless! -
Well, what's life?
Replication and metabolism, apparently.
Definitely not consciousness.
-
Very interesting johhny k,can you elucidate on your thoughts a little more....I find the notion that all the energy combined equals god,and the infinite time to evolve an infinite intelligence very interesting...
How would you explain how an infinite length of time has already passed, isnt that a contradictory concept? I mean how can there already have been an infinite period of time passed if there is still more time to come? -
peace Jonny,
the quran says god has existed forever. It didn't evolve.
Plus, there's no evidence of this "infinite universe" yet. Maybe it exists, but "god" is not something that has to do with it, at least not the god which religious scriptures have mentioned. We knew nothing about infinite universes 3000 years ago, but we knew about god. -
Peace "lobster",
peace Jonny,
the quran says god has existed forever. It didn't evolve.JK- The term evolve is not tht technically appropriate because it happened in an instant since quantum particles do not experience time. It immediately happens in at those levels. But it gives the idea. And yes even if wed say "GOD evolved from infinity" then it still means He was always there so this is really only a matter of phrasing the terms.

JK- Oh i guess there were philosophers back then who thought abt time never having a beginning in an absolute sense, since it doesnt make any sense. GOD Bless!
