What is the scriptural support for us being a part of God?
-
Peace all. I believe that we are all parts of the God.I believe this through my life experience. Some mystics, sufis, hindus, gnostic christians, philosophers, wiccans, buddhists also believe the same.(and others too.) What is the support for this in the quran, bible, torah, bhagvad gita or any other scriptures etc..? Or is there no evidence scripturally?...
quran;'God is close to you than your jugular vein'. 'Wherever you turn your face there is the face of god'. 'It was not you who threw when you threw but god who threw'. These are just for starters.....

Peace Enquirer,
In my opinion, full contemplation upon these two verses (which you mentioned) paints the picture quite well...
2115 And to God belongs the east and the west, so wherever you turn, there is God's presence. God is Encompassing, Knowledgeable.
5016 And We have created man and We know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than his jugular vein.
further evidence
1061 And any matter you are in, or any recitation you do of the Quran, or any work you do; We are witnesses over you when you undertake it. Nothing is hidden from your Lord, not even an atoms weight on Earth or in the heavens, nor smaller than that nor larger, but is in a clear record.
Peace,

The above verses are full of wisdom, no doubt proclaimed by the mystical/philosophical minds of that time, and so are some of the ones of OUR times, and likewise I do admire some of the wisdom a few people have here on this forum, perhaps a level above, one of which I had my doubts before, and that is Kyle, with due respect to all others. A blurred mirrored vision defogged on my part and ventilated clear.

Peace all,
Maybe these verses will help
327 He is the One who perfected everything He created, and started the creation of the human from clay.
328 Then He continued his reproduction through a certain lowly liquid.
329 He shaped him and blew into him from His spirit. And He gave you the hearing, the eyesight, and the brains; rarely are you thankful.

Peace all. The quran continually mentions 'we' in addressing its audience,Maybe a clue? If the phrase khalaq-na(we created.) is reintepreted it can mean; we constituted or we constitute. Khalq i believe makes sense to mean constitute, try it in the verses mentioning khalq as creation.
bible ;'Know ye not that ye are gods.' 'Me and the father are one'.
Ps;danish,i agree kyle/idol-free is the most enlightened brother on this forum. Though of course we all make mistakes in our interpretations. Lol. )

Hello Enquirer,
The "God-As-Everything" is quite a ancient insight of humanity enquirer. It is recounted in Sumerian Creation Myths. And Gita is full of references to God-As-Everything...

Interesting topic to ponder upon. We have been programmed to believe from the sectarian Muslims that God is above or ourside his creation, which has to be questioned, I think. As God established himself in authority after the creation of the universe, I think he is both part of it (which can be perseve as it is creation) and is/was not at the sametime (i.e. before the creation of universe/time etc.)

I think the basic thing that we should probably consider is that all of creation is part of God, God also transcends creation. That is to say that God encompasses all that which is created, and all that which is uncreated. So God is hence greater than the sum of all of existence.

Peace be upon you Danish, Enquirer, and all,
Thank you both for the kind words. Perhaps you give me too much credit. It is "WE" who have gotten to where we are, discussing such crucial topics as this thread about ONENESS. One does not grow without resistance, and we have all provided resistance for each other.
While I appreciate the kind words, I would ask that you "please do not feed the animals", and by that I mean my EGO. D As good as it might "feel" to hear such compliments, it can be very harmful if I take it too seriously. Lets continue to make this forum a place for resistance and growth.
Regarding this topic, I think you all have given the verses that I would have given in support of this idea. I will have more to say about the topic later, it has far reaching consequences. Our IDENTITY, who we think we are, gives us great power.

Peace be upon you Enquirer,
I was looking at the other thread which prompted you to start this thread and I saw a verse that you mentioned that I forgot about but have promoted before which is the verse that states that Musa was told to take his shoes off. I agree that this implies that the journey is not a physical journey, like the one to Mecca to walk around a stone, but instead a spiritual journey within.
I also want to mention that there is a verse regarding one "looking about the skies" but was told that the true Qibla was the "masjid al haraam" (place of hearing and obeying the restrictions), which is a place within man's being, not a physical object for people to face AT ALL TIMES. D
The God is the Core of our Being. It is God's "ruh" (energy) that is blown into us that gives us LIFE, gives us BEING. It is the God who SEES, HEARS, etc THROUGH our VEHICLES.
Think of a pure light shining through different colored window panes. As it shines through the red window pane, it becomes limited, same with blue, yellow, etc. But WITHIN the red, blue, yellow light, is the ESSENCE, the pure light from which they are all made. The human must stop identifying with colored lights and go back to the pure light. We are not our houses, we are not our clothes, we are not our bodies, we are not our thoughts/images, we are not our emotions. So who are WE?
I do not say the above lightly, I have reflected and confirmed the above statements as we all should.

God is the Light of the heavens and the Earth. The example of His light is like ................................................................................Imagin the whole existence glowing with this light.
His light sustains everything in existence.God forbids us to worship any idol in any form, but when it comes to comparison with LIGHT, it becomes permitted.
LIGHT of the lights.
It has a yellow-greenish GLOW (OLIVE OIL). Just as with the allegory of the GARDEN and rivers of heaven.
- Faces on that Day will be shining.
- Looking at their Lord.
The close ones to him will be able to look at HIS MAJESTY LIGHT OF THE LIGHTS and their faces also becomes shiny.
HE is the most subliem energy field which existence upon HIS power exists and grows. HIS GLOW is shines upon everything.
this has made me to contemplate a lot on its meaning, but still it has a lot more to reveal. further elaboration on this matter from sisters and brothers is appreciated.
This Forum is a blessing.

Peace alpha97. There are a some people who state that God is light. That we and everything that exists are derivatives of light. It is interesting,i mean even darkness may just be a lesser amount of light. scientists are pondering over whether light is a wave or a particle or both,a bit mysterious.. Many religious experiences are called ;'seeing the light'. Ignorance or darkness is referred to when one is in illusion and does not perceive/see the light. In the verse you refer to god is called light,as is his guidance. Many near death experiences or out of body experiences report seeing a bright light. Could light be our true essence?(and the true essence of everthing.) Ps; The hologram theory may also be related to light, and this topic?

peace everyone
I think it was Danish and enquirer who said Kyle (idolfree1) was 'the most enlightened member on this forum.' Although i agree that Kyle is a very smart individual (and so are some other people on this forum), i would refrain from calling him, or anyone else for that matter, the 'most enlightened.' Because if we do that, we are basically telling everyone that they should follow whatever Kyle says because he is smarter than they are. And it would also be degrading the opinion of those who disagree with him.

peace phoenix. I did also mention that we all make mistakes in our interpretations.(even kyle. ) So i did not mean that we should follow idol-free,or that those who disagree with him are necessarily wrong. We should follow what we verify is right, not any single person. My point was on certain general issues, in my opinion, he is the most enlightened member.(note the words 'most enlightened' are relative.) This is not to downgrade other posters, who can also have great ideas. Great ideas can come from many sources. I just like to give credit and encouragement to people,so they can get some feedback... Just as i say my mum is the best cook in my family,it doesnt mean i am criticising my sisters cooking ability or that my mum knows everything about cooking. I do disagree with idol-free on certain issues,(eg homosexuality.) but i feel his methodology, experience and ideas are very good.
Peace all. -

You definitely need brushing up your understanding level before becoming judgemental and getting carried away. Your muttering above has no bearing and semblance to what I wrote earlier. Please re-read my post below

The point I was driving at, was that, I understood and digested some of the spiritual concepts in relations to reality/nature you?ve been talking about, which when compared to Quranic injunctions side by side seemed rather unrelated, and for which I had issues about that led to misunderstandings earlier. Nevertheless, it was a compliment to be acknowledged and not purported to become harmful. That's all. wink

I didn't mean to say that in a negative way. sorry. I wasn't judging you. I was just trying to put my thoughts out there so that people wouldn't start talking about who is more 'enlightened' than who.
And i think my post was directed more towards enquirer.
again, sorry. -

again, sorry.Thank you for clearing it up and I do apologise for being a little harsh at words, though not my intention. No hard feelings. PEACE. )
