What exactly is the Injeel??
-
I've been trying to figure out for a while what exactly the Injeel is. It says in the Qur'an that it was sent down to Jesus (549), so it doesn't make sense that it would be the various Gospels or other books of the Bible, as those were clearly written by people other than Jesus. If we consider it to be the word of Jesus, does this mean that everything that Jesus ever said is part of the Injeel, or only part of what he said? Could the Gospel according to Thomas (discovered at Nag Hammadi) be the Injeel, or at least part of it, as it records important sayings of Jesus without the commentary and stories added by the other Gospel writers?

Good questionable insights, Claurianta.
As a starter, I would suggest reading the information as presented in the following link
http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InjeelPerhaps you or anyone else may have some other information or insights of understanding what Injeel is alll about and collectively come to consensus.

salaam,
Q;
the word of JesusYes, it refers to his words, not his deeds.
Q;
Could the Gospel according to Thomas (discovered at Nag Hammadi) be the Injeel, or at least part of it, as it records important sayings of Jesus without the commentary and stories added by the other Gospel writers?Yes, in my theology study, this is the most accepted, but also that his sayings are spread out, throughout the 4 gospels in the bible and the gospels of naghammadi. You can never pinpoint a 100% if this is really what Jesus said, but if you look for the Gospel, you can only look at sayings. I can recommend the book of Geza Vermes who wrote about this in a ingenius way; The authentic gospel of Jesus. He investigated all the sayings spread out in all the Gospels, and judged them on the jewish theological level. This book can clear a lot for you.
But always keep in mind that all Gospels are edited versions of the original, mixed together with Jesus'hadith' and mitra-legends and old sayings of famous Rabbi's of Jesus time. And always understand Jesus his sayings from a jewish view point, and from his time he lived in.
Peace
