Cremation: disruption of the food-chain?

Yes , true, but humans always like innovations. The casket is an innovation. Also the fancy marble tombstones we see in countries that claim to be "Islamic" are also innovations.
I agree with zenje in that the body of the diceased should be burried directly in the ground ( without casket ).

Here in Indonesia (in Java, at least) we bury the dead wihthout coffins. However, people would build small stone or concrete monuments over tombs (the innovations).
I guess the Qur'anic way would be a direct burial.

I think people make things difficult, again stone structures etc etc. Scientifically, under normal circumstances burying the dead is natural, as every dead creature does back to the earth. Hence, cremation no doubt affect the foodchain.
Then again, if you're talking natural then in my observation burial is less 'natural' than leaving dead bodies out in the open for scavengers...

Its fine for me if things the dead is left for scavengers. I do not see this a problem because it goes back to the foodchain. The problem is with cremation. As a matter of fact, it disrupts the foodchain.

And scientifically arent the cremated nutrients still of use to the food chain? Remember when you cremate a dead body that carbon dioxide and other goodies are probably given off too. Are these gases useful or not? what do you think doctor bmbmm.(pbuh.) Take it easy. wink

No, when we cremate we lost everything, apart from the gases. I suggest you to do an experiment Grow some weed Chop up a dead mice, mix it with the soil. For the control, cremate another mice in the oven if you have one, if not two lighters will be sufficient, until it turns ashes! Mix the ashes with the soil and blend it into another weed-pot! You will see the results after few weeks lol lol lol
