      Peace,

The main issue is a security one as this forum has been hacked a number of times...With regards to the other features, you can see them here http//www.vbulletin.com/features.php

I like the format of the new forum. I also like the format of the current one so no qualms here.

This is another topic altogether but the biggest thing we need to work on is making the forum more active. It takes days, sometimes, to get a few responses on threads.

I have seen quite a few forums moving to that format and though it might take a little getting used to.... my personal opinion is that once you do, it IS much better and does have fewer problems

the features look much better . i think most members would accept this alternative .

why not create a poll ?

I think this difference alone is enough to warrant a move. Plus, I think it'll weed out spammers and other members who just signed up and never visited again.

                  Peace

is it possible to remove " violative of any laws" clause from the registering procedure?

By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

                      Peace Zlatan,

I am sure that many postings here violate many clauses in Shariah law (which would be included under "any laws"). For example, according to Shariah law, one who rejects Hadith is an idolatrous disbeliever whose life and property are licit. (

In general, I think the move is fine as long as we can migrate all the posts (except maybe TRASH) from the previous forum to this one so that we don't lose useful info.

                      Peace,

                      Ayman

                        Peace,

We have been experimenting with a new forum which is more reliable than the phpBB we are using...Kindly checkout the forum and give your views as to if it is an acceptable alternative

                        http//www.free-minds.org/forum1

                        Salaam Alaikum / Peace

Thanks. That forum seems nice. However, it has exactly the same format / layout as this one.

Perhaps it would also be nice to try out a different format where the thread has the 'tree-like' appearance. I am not sure if that format has a different technical name. I like that more and it's not as common as this one. The interactions between users are more on a 'one on one' level as you can pick the person you want to respond to directly without quoting, although the option of quoting is also there. All other options that are available here are accessable there too. It's a lot more appealing and interesting, and makes it simpler to follow the course of the discussion between the various participants.

Of course, I hope all data will be transferred to the new forum. I am particularly studying the Hadeeth discussions very carefully in this forum and I wouldn't want any of those posts to be deleted or lost while in the process of moving to a new board.

Hmmmm .. i don't hate the present format. but undoubtedly i like the 'tree-like' one much more. it simply needs to be introduced and everyone will rush at it. or perhaps there should be a choice. i was told that there's a format that allows users to switch between the two, whichever one they prefer.

                              Hi There!

First off, everything is better than phpbb. And since you're experimenting, i'd suggest SMF. www.simplemachines.org. - I use the RC2 version, and everything is going great. Never ever been hacked, never had any errors, and mod installing automated and safe. It's perfectly compatible with Joomla - www.joomla.org. Which you could use to perfect free-minds org.

Vbulleting is great is what i've heard, but i've never tried it so i cant say. But, again, everything is better than phpbb.

If you didn't notice the tree-like layout after clicking the original post then apparently that was some other format, not the one I'm referring to.
