New Forum! Yaaayy

Peace Nadia, Zenje, All,
Yes, Nadia it is true. You just have a way with words that tickles my, ummm, belly or something. You ever think about stand-up comedy?
Zenje, if you can't think of a reason to bring the kids to the city, then you haven't been on this planet recently. Here's a few trips for starters Museum of Natural History, The Met, The Bronx Zoo (I just went...it's freakin awesome), Central Park Zoo, The Museum of Television, The Blue Man Group (Fantastic), Cirque de Soleil, just to name a few, and in my beautiful Jersey, less than an hour away from the city, we have Six Flags/Great Adventure boasting Kingda Ka, the world's tallest and fastest roller coaster!
Need I say more?
And I will take you up on the Colorado trip. Hopefully sooner than later. Are you close to any roaring rapid rides?
Peace,

That is an interesting way of putting it seeing as how I mentioned steak and all D But stand-up?!? No way, I'd probably be petrified on stage with a cheesy grin on my face...my bro though is into it and quite successful too, he's like a born performer.

peace Layth, Zenje, All,
Firstly, I appreciate your efforts in running the forum, and I think a new forum is probably for the best in the long run. The main problem with the previous forum may have been security but your host not backing up daily didn't help!
The only problem I have with the change is that as far as I'm aware, links on webpages pointing to threads in the previous forum do not work anymore. This is unfortunate as I (and no doubt other members) have used these links in discussions/articles/posts on other forums etc.
Can this be corrected?

Hi Wakas,
Yes, this can be fixed.
It's quite possible to make a php-script that can search the whole database for urls pointing to the old address. However, it's even easier to make a viewtopic.php file that redirects to the proper address. The second alternative sounds easier and safer to me. This way, even links from outside free-minds would be redirected to the proper thread.
The code inside the viewtopic.php file would go something like this
<?php
$topic = $_GET;
$newurl = "http//www.free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=$topic";
echo "<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC '-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN'><html><head><title></title><meta http-equiv='refresh' content='0;$newurl'></head><body></body></html>";
?>
All you need to do, is to copy that code, open notebook, paste, and save as viewtopic.php using "all filetypes" in the drop-down-menu, And upload it to the /forum directory.
Hope it works out -)
EDIT FIXED CODE
Nadeem.
ps. This does not alter or even use the database. The firstline gets the value T from older urls, which is the topic id. And then takes that and puts it after the newer url. That's all.
pss. The negative thing is, that it wont lead to a specific page in the thread, but to the beginning. I could make som additions, but that'll take time. Tell me if you're interested and I'll make some time -)

Hi Adley,
You're welcome -)
I'll do anything to help this community -)
By the way,
You can check the code for yourself at
http//reflekterselv.com/viewtopic.php?t=5556
This will bring you this topic. If you look at the url to this thread, it goes
http//www.free-minds.org80/forum/index.php?topic=5556.30
Recognize the number in bold?
Try changing that number, and see for yourselfs -)

Now you did hear me say 3 year old right? But seriously, I had no idea you had a Central Park Zoo!... I thought they just made that up for the movie - Madagascar!LOL!And I will take you up on the Colorado trip. Hopefully sooner than later. Are you close to any roaring rapid rides?
I don't know where they are, but I do know they exist. There's a lot of outdoorsy stuff to do around here, summer or winter. Believe me, there's more during summer... and all CO is known for is ski country. But dude, come on to the mile high city and we'll go to the rapids and some other cool stuff I've never done. Anything that won't give my knee any problems, that is, like steak. Hehe..Send me an e-mail when you know fer sure.

Salaam Zenje,
Peace Wakas, Adley, Nadeem,
Now it's all up to Layth or Zenje to use it.
Sorry guys, that's all Layth... again. -[ You're talking about the main website, right? ???Well, actually it's about the links which are scattered thorughout the entire FM forum in numerous threads. (I assume by the main website means not the forum). An example of links in a thread/post can be seen here. Now is those links are clicked, they will not take you to the appropriate post/thread. This is what Nadeem's code is fixing. ;D

Peace Nadeem, all,
I have heard that there can be a 'ignore' poster button feature of some kind that can be turned on? Does that hold true for this forum and can it be turned on for those that might like to refine their experience at this forum?!?
