    Salam.

4733 O you who believe, obey God, and obey the messenger. And do not render your work in vain.

We are now discussing the word and, we have to define what doers it mean to obey The God and to obey the messenger, why is this sentence structured like this?

How does one obey The God and how does one obey the messenger?

    Peace.

        Salaam all,

"Muhammad made mistakes" is a poor excuse not to follow him. Why? Because we make more mistakes than he ever did. So, do you trust yourself better, or the messenger, despite his few errors?

Notice that God did not ask us to have Iman= safety and trust, in ourselves. He did however ask us to have Iman in the messengers. It is for a reason.

Also, for your knowledge, even though Sufis and Shias may say the Muhammad was error free, the vast majority of the Sunni great scholars agree that he, as a human, made errors, but he was error free in the delivery of the message. The "delivery of the message" being a loose word that covers the Qur'an, but can extend beyond that to explaining it in acts and otherwise.

        Take care all.

        Hussein

Sure i trust the messenger, its the compilers i don't trust, its the hearsays i don't trust, its the 3rd, 4th, 5th person point of views i don't trust. I don't want to get into a debate about this, The Quran is very clear on what the messenger's job is. That is if you don't have preconceived notions.

          Peace.

            Salaam Argento,

Then you guys must have lots of "preconceived notions", because you cannot agree on anything except the empty slogan that is called "Qur'an alone". Perhaps that is why one choses that approach, to allow the preconceived notions to prevail.

The only other alternative is for you guys to end up saying that the Qur'an is not as clear as you think.

One of the jobs of the messenger is to make the message clear. That is also one way, God clarifies the message to us, through the messenger, as well as other means, including the language of the Qur'an itself.

The last thing is "not trusting" the transmitters of hadeeth does not necessarily make all the hadeeth false. Actually that would be an extemely biased conclusion. If one accepts the "obey the messenger" then one will try to devise some technique to help him/her sift through what came to us and attributed to the messenger. Discarding them like that is convenient excuse, but does not necessarily cut it, especially when one sees the sad state of affairs that you guys present on this forum.

            Take care all

            Hussein

Thanks for clarifying. We wouldn't want to tar everyone with the same brush with generalisations.

              Whoops, too late.

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

your logic is down right ludicruous, and who is 'we' exactly. Any other secrets about me you want to divulge?

It benefits me greatly to buy into sunni point of view, considering 99.99% of my family is ! But I am more interested in the truth

compared to the brilliant state of the sunni world? who constantly lose when God promises them victory thru AQ

                  Peace Hussein

"Muhammad made mistakes" is a poor excuse not to follow him.

This is probably correct since there do tend to be good things to emulate from even the worst of people.

Why? Because we make more mistakes than he ever did.

This is hearsay of course, but you are entitled to believe yourself a greater sinner than someone else. Still, God warns that He alone is FULLY Aware.

                  Joe
