So i checked alot of traditional muslim websites on what are the fundamental rules for getting married islamically. all of them give a bunch of strange rules and not all agree. o i have no clue what the basic rules are without all the traditions and customs. if anyone could give me an outline of what 2 ppl need to get married in front of GOD ALONE, i would be forever grateful! ???

          Salam folks
I read the thread. It answered alot of my questions thank you so much! So this whole idea of a muslimah having to get permission from her waly el amr (guardian i.e. father) is not really islamic? that was one thing i was confused about. and also the whole making it public. whats public to you may not be public to me. like is it really public if a girl's family doesn't know but a bunch of friends do? that's the one thing that i'm a little confused about. what constitutes "going public about it" ? someone told me publicity is actually the 2 witnesses to the marriage that is needed. so would that mean if (1)at least 2 ppl know that im in a serious relationship, (2) my family doesn't know anything, (3) he gave me a gift, and (4) we're both God-fearing and God-believing and (5) serious about our relationship with all the rights and responsiblities we share to each other as husband and wife; then we're married? -\

As for the book, it sounds AWESOME! i read the whole page im dying to read the book now!! thanks so much for that i didnt even know books like that existed in the islamic world hehe. seems like alot of "tabboo" issues are brought up in it which is excellent to see. we need more bold discussions...

Gazakom Allah kheir thanks so much for those 2 posts!
