    Peace alpha97. This is my version;
'He'(your conscience.) is the source of your good.
'He'(your conscience.) is the source of your light.
'He'(your conscience.) is your true nature and source of happiness.
    Peace all.

      peace,

According to Professor Alan Jones (author of this excellent book and others relating to Arabic) it literally means "The God" or "The Deity".

Peace wakas. Do you think the word allah in arabic can mean one 'overall' god,or can it also mean a term for the most important god to an individual?
        Peace.

          Peace

I personally believe that regardless of the origin or the literal meaning of words or names like Allah ,Esswar,Khuda,God etc etc they r universal representation of the supreme being who created us.Its amazing that you will find that supremebeing in every language .Regardless of nationallty or ethinicity every one knows that there is a supremebeing even the ones who reject God knows God,s names. We can not judge those names on the basis literal meaning but all of us knows where these names are directed personally i believe its a sign of God.

I personally believe that conscience is the guide to God .We search into different books when the guiding book is already fitted in us in the form of our conscience.Unfortunatlly we ignore our conscience and look for alternatives.Amazinglly every book which claims to be ultimate guidence to God fails some where in a situation or in a circumstance but mirically conscience never fails. It is always there to help.I see it as a sign from God,Concious is universal it didn,t need any special language to understand .We didn,t need any special teacher to learn it.You didn,t required gramiticall perfectness to understand it .Its amazing that God has made it easy for everyone of us .The problem begins when we ignore it and look for manmade resources forgeting that circumstances timings n situation of every individual is different.

          Peace.

Peace naxus. Yes,different words and concepts can describe the universal idea of god.
And of course ones personal conscience is the key to guidance,no doubt.I personally believe our conscience is our god.
Peace all. Ps;it is remarkable that our conscience always seems to have good answers, regardless of situation, grammar, language, our level of experience/understanding,our stage of life etc....a big clue i think....

              peace enquirer,

I think the connotation of the word is "the one and only God/Deity", i.e. THE God/Deity. It could be the most important God to an individual, but that implies there are other Gods, and the word does not imply that in my opinion.

                Consciousness \Con"scious*ness, n.

                1. The state of being conscious; knowledge of one's own existence, condition, sensations, mental operations, acts, etc.

Consciousness is thus, on the one hand, the recognition by the mind or ``ego'' of its acts and affections; -- in other words, the self-affirmation that certain modifications are known by me, and that these modifications are mine. --Sir W. Hamilton.

                1. Immediate knowledge or perception of the presence of any object, state, or sensation. See the Note under Attention.

Annihilate the consciousness of the object, you annihilate the consciousness of the operation. --Sir W. Hamilton.

And, when the steam Which overflowed the soul had passed away, A consciousness remained that it had left. . . . images and precious thoughts That shall not die, and can not be destroyed. --Wordsworth.

The consciousness of wrong brought with it the consciousness of weakness. --Froude.

                1. Feeling, persuasion, or expectation; esp., inward sense of guilt or innocence.

An honest mind is not in the power of a dishonest to break its peace there must be some guilt or consciousness. --Pope.

Source Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913)

just quoting - seems interesting , but "No" God cannot be just my conscience or conciuosness as what creats all the goodness around you and me - in nature? The flowers , the animals e.t.c Unless we say God is Consciousness seperate to us or maybe including ours as well

                Gods Blessings.

                  Salaams enquirer,all,

                  you said
'He'(your conscience.) is the source of your good.
'He'(your conscience.) is the source of your light.
'He'(your conscience.) is your true nature and source of happiness.

                  How about sub-conscious instead?

                  Thanks.

Peace Simple. yes,it could be defined as the sub-concious also...Ive learnt that trying to define god/reality is a partially 'subjective' exercise....I think whatever one thinks of in relation to defining god is fine by me,as long as its logical to you,and doesnt harm yourself or others....We also have to keep an open-mind and recognise our limitations and possible mistakes...I think we each can know god in our own somewhat subjective way....Too much harm and suffering has come from people arguing and fighting over definitions of god....I think general behaviour is a much better indicator of a persons character, not how he defines god...
When i get time i will post a new thread on; God=reality?....
                    Peace all.

                      Peace be upon you,

My position is that the God is Consciousness itself. The same consciousness flows through every "vehicle" on this forum and not on this forum. The God is that which percieves but cannot itself be percieved. If you meditate, you can experience the state of being conscious of being consciousness. You will realize that there is a part of YOU that percieves things (thoughts, images, sensations) but itself cannot be percieved. That is GOD within! his is the subjective realm

That which is refered to as sub conscious is actually the SPIRIT (Nafs), and that includes all of the objective realm, the densest level being the physical world/human body.

False Gods come about from people "worshipping" objects of perceptions, rather than SERVING that which percieves.

SO there are two factors here consciousness/will(God within) and energy/matter(spirit)

                          My opinion

The 'Real' meaning is 'God' or whatever word you personally use to denote that which is actually known to all of us and denied by many.

It is a symbol or token.

However, arriving at a description will be impossible, since vocabulary is inadeqaute to provide a complete description. At best people will be describing a mixture of their own perceptions, feelings, interests, conditioning, hopes and fears etc., and only ever a part of the whole. There does not exist a 'something' that can fit the statement God = 'something'. (Except maybe God = God).
