    Peace be upon you,

We are the vessels of God, we SERVE the God by purifying our Behavior so that the Divine Attributes can manifest through our vehicles. We are like the tools of the workmen, the tools do not "worship" the workman, they SERVE the workman.

      Peace,

Worship is based on idolatry. You do something for me, i do something for you. They believed if you didn't worship a certain idol, he would punish you, or your crop would fail and so on. If you demand something, it means you need it. God doesn't need anything. So we can find peace through prayer, but that is not 'worship' as God doesn't need your praising. We pray because we need it. Not because God demands it. So the 'i do something for, you so something for me' falls away. So only service is left then. It is therefor intruiging, that God exactly defines that His service is not like the idol-worship as He defines He doesn't want or need anything. So He shows by this the difference.

I have only created Jinns and men, THAT THEY MAY SERVE ME. -- 5156

You have to see the context, as God says in the next verse, that He doesn't want anything, so i agree here with QXP

5156 And I have not created the nomads(people outside/not direct participation in/not seen society) or the urban(directly in society) but to consciously and
willingly live by My Laws. (?Ibadah?, usually translated, as worship is better
applicable in that sense to idol-worship. And since the Qur?an consistently
promotes action over ritual, ?Ibadah? of Allah is better understood as serving
Him by serving His creation. That is in conformity with my rendering,
?consciously and willingly live by --?).

5157 No sustenance do I ever require of them, nor do I ask that they feed
      Me.
5158 Verily, Allah! He it is Who is the Provider, the Lord of Might, Invincible.

Maria So the word "worship" is too strong?

No, not too strong but wrong, according to Aidid.

But doesn't worship exists in Quran about God?Or it is serve God instead of worship God!?

Depends on what you mean by worship and serve, I'm afraid. Because both terms are not in the quranic vocabulary, its easy to play with their meanings.

Simple Worship if taken as being ritualistic doesn?t exist in the quran as aided said ? I think.

          What's a 'ritual' ?

Ok, well the cleaning act in 5/6 fits this description and God does tell us to say certain things like 17/110.

              are these idols aswell?

              How can they be?

                Salaamun alaikum,

Following your instructions, I'd like to insert a criticism towards Aidid's view. Aidid's seperating between 'worship' and 'serve' has no quranic basis. This was merely his own reservations towards sunnism that made him judge this way. Ibada in al-quraan is better described as 'worship'.

lol I meant only PM me if you've got a problem with the guy in general, but if it refers to my question in the first post then you can post it here )

                peace,

                  What you wrote was

....and if you want to criticize Aidid please create your own thread or PM me but don't post it on here.

Well, I'm criticising Aidid but I don't have a problem with the guy at all. In my view, Aidid has created the illusion of 'religion' and 'way of life' and also 'worship' and 'serve'. No such partitioning exists in al-quraan. Al-quraan has only the words 'ibada', 'millat' and 'deen'.

yes but that was also part of my question at the beginning. I meant criticism like he was a 'kafir' or a 'racist' or something like that that would be pointless posting and a waste of time reading.

Jai made an interesting comment on the guy.

                    Salam,

I disagree with Aidid Safar mainly because he redefines age old arabic words with new words, some of which do not fit in conformity of the text of the quran.Simple example would be the linking of kaaba..with ankles...many of his hypothesis may sound attractive ,but i find no basis in it whatsoever. Also his translation is more confusing to me than clarifying. Its my personal view, that he distorts meanings of certain arabic words to give an overall picture that fits with his view on how things should be,rather than objectively try and translate.Peace....

                    so what do you think?

                    peace,

Lol ok, He's neither kafir nor a racist although his viewpoint on al-a'raab is in fact, race-centred. On the contrary, Aidid Safar's 'paradigm shift' brought a fantastic new vista to the studies of al-quraan.

I agree and I further emphasise that it's certain words and not all and I would add that Aidid had to twist the ayaat to prove that 5/97 means 'ankles'. It's sad that because the translation completely doesn't fit the context.

                              Salaams sugar,

If verbal praise was all Allah wanted , it is too easy - just record it on a recorder and that will carry on praising Him even when we are dead.

The quran is grossly mistranslated , when Allah is saying persue ,imbibe his qualities /attributes they have translated it as praise his name and things.

Ism ,smaa, samawaat aren?t names and things but the qualities of the Allmighty.

Rather then people of Godly attributes we have become idolators idolisings His name and rituals. We lie , cheat do fraud and think we are the saved???

                              56

Is nothing more then to cleanse one?s self ,

                              God Bless.

Do what seems correct to you according to Qur'an instead of reading and following someone like Aidid Safar. I said this many times before on the forum knowing that majority of the members do not believe in Qur'an salat as prayers. I do pray not very regularly but pray very traditional way. I don't see any harm or shirk in physically bowing down and prostrate to Allah.

                                  Sugargive us more examples then.

Zakaat which he translates as 'purification'. Zakaat is 'growth, evolution' while tahara is purification.

Salaat which he translates as 'commitment'. Salaat is an exercise one performs twice a day in order to establish zikrullah.

                                      Salaams mquran,

                                      Okay the first one first

Going to a lecture/dance hall/a meeting - any place where you will meet others if you have been gardening should you wash your muddy feet, wash your hands make sure your nose is clean?

                                      This was just an example.

If you call this a ritual fine but I don?t

if you don't have problems with this then we can go on the next ayah.

                                      God Bless.

Simple, my view is thus. To say 'al-quraan doesnt have rituals' or vice-versa can only be verified in one way by defining 'ritual'.

To me a ritual is simply a set of action one performs routinely. Hence when before I iqamussalaat, I wash and rub myself as al-quraan commands.

If you don't consider the above a 'ritual', then that's fine. That's a matter of semantics. However, I'd like to know if it affects your understanding of 5/6 in any way. THAT'S the point I'm looking at.

Zakaat which he translates as 'purification'. Zakaat is 'growth, evolution' while tahara is purification.

I've heard that it could mean 'purification' before by a Muhammaden on another forum.

Salaat which he translates as 'commitment'. Salaat is an exercise one performs twice a day in order to establish zikrullah.

I've heard many other meanings of the word 'salaat'

Someone PMed me Aidid's site a while back. So far everything I read on his site makes sense.

If verbal praise was all Allah wanted , it is too easy - just record it on a recorder and that will carry on praising Him even when we are dead.

                                          I agree.

                                          peace,
