What should be the outlines of an Americanized ?islam??

I don't think an 'Americanized' Islam is necessary. Why should we or any other group try to mold Islam into something America would like?

infact, a few years back there was this talk of non-muslims building websites where they put a completely out-of-sync with quran interpretations of quran...i think it was said to be 'jewish' attempts...and they were trying to get the muslim masses to start taking jerusalem as the birth place of muhammad rather than mecca, and something like their intention was to take the focus away from the kaaba at mecca -S..so yes..the talks have been there for a long time! infact i remember reading at a certain christian website...telling the muslims something like they have to re-interpret the quran and re-formulate islam if they wish to be co-exist -S (though i agree that muslims need to start looking at quran for guidance, for example differentiate apostasy from betrayal)...then there are hindus who say muhammad preached hinduism...he was an avtar of god -S.. there were also talks about sites and groups with misleading names and object mission...and i think 1 of them was even similar to the name of this site -S
the thing is if u feel certain websites or webgroups are posing as muslims to propogate disbelief by quran...u should go to those websites u think are muslims (shia/sunni/quran-only)...and inform them about such websites and what they are propogating..so that not only other muslims but non-muslims visiting those sites will weigh their teachings against ur information! -)

There can only be a quranic islam, based on logic, reason and science together with the Quran. This not 'modern' or 'american'. This purely what the Quran promotes. This thread is discriminating and doesn't see the difference between the laws for goverment the Quran gives, and the advises for individuals, as the first are clear, and the second have no direct influence on the country in total. So the americanised islam can never exist. Only the Quranic islam...

America is a land of Individualism. This philosophy is opposite to Socialism. The political form of this philosophy is Democracy. The government here is chosen by the majority of the free individualistic individuals. Both the individual and social level ideologies live in American Nationalism. Jews have some dominance in American economy and the majority of people belong to Christianity. Islam is growing there and has been a headache for them. In this situation a modification and adaptation of islam to fit in their Nationalism, shall be highly appreciated by them. What shall be the possible criteria or signs of such an islam?
- It should find reasons to love Jews and Christians and hate Sunnis and Shias.
- It should justify the alienation from the Muslims of Asian countries.
- It should be individualistic in approach; everybody shall be his own Imam, everybody shall make for him his own religion, Muslim community shall be a bunch of scattered individuals.
- The most important requirement is that it shall get rid of Kaba. Facing Kaba everyday is the most sensitive issue from nationalistic point. It is against Americas vanity and pride. Kaba is associated with Saudi Arabia, land of a culturally fallen behind and inferior nation. Facing Kaba may also mean associating with the rest of the Muslim community.
- Quran should be treated as one of the Testaments with same weights as the other two.
Is there anything more possible points of such an islam? We have past experience of din-e-elahi concocted by Akbar, the Muhgal.
Are you suggesting that the Free-Minds' Islam is especially designed to please America ?

Why alienation of Muslims of Asian countries specifically? If anything I'd say Arab Americans get the heat the most lately. Just look at hollywood. Oh well... it's not easy being green ;D
anyway, God bless America. At least I can practice my religion in the way I deem fit, not some wacky dictatorship telling me how its gotta be.
