2154 And do not say of those who are killed in the sake of God that they are dead; no, they are alive but you do not perceive.
ok what does this verse mean? i heard that some think that this verse implies that these people who died in the sake of God, that they are alive, and i don't mean soul alive, they say they are completly alive as in having a body and soul.
although that goes against the laws of nature, even though God CAN do anything, but apparetly God does not change His laws after establishing them, so i don't think human body would last over 150 years, and they say people are alive for over 1000, 2000 years.
so if it means that only souls are alive (and not the bodies) why is it only mentioned about the ones who are killed in the sake of God? why doesn't it say do not say of anyone who dies "they are dead"?

that is a hard one... i imagine it means that they are somehow closer to God in the spiritual sense, and hence more alive (though dead) than someone who has not died for the sake of God. does that make sense?

One possible explanation could be as follows
- Quran has said death is akin to sleep. People who have died are sleeping and will wake up on the judgement day. They (their souls) are unconcious in the mean time and they cannot feel anything.
- People who have died in the sake of God, are not sleeping/unconcious. They are, perhaps, already in paradise enjoying the bounties.

Or probably , they are alive in a physical body in a planet else where, They dont have to wait for the jd to find out about their fate.

If they dont have to wait for the jd to find out about their fate; then they must be in paradise already. If they are in this planet then they are exposed to further earthly tests.
