I wasnt asking for your benefit but to show objective and sincere people here that your position is precarious. Like a house of cards..

THINK and follow what was requested, don't ramble.

        Peace,

I copied and pasted a portion of one of the earliest manuscripts from my documents file. When I sign in, I can see it but when not signed in, I don't see it. Mods/admin, please explain? Also please let me know how to magnify a document file which can be readily and clearly read, if that's the case, or any other suggestions. Thanks.

        Peace Danish,

I'm not sure if that's a settings issue with this board, where you can view certain document/image files only when signed in. On the other hand, in terms of magnifying, as far as I know, an image has to magnified externally and then inserted here. Unless when pasted it was really big to begin with and a mod wou have to reduce the size and repost it again. Please pm me if this doesn't answer your question.

Thanks Zein. Nadia brushed me in on this and I shall try it again. But can you see the image of the manuscript on my earlier post, whether signed in or not? I know there's an 'attachment browser' in the Additional Options...button from where I uploaded a jpeg file in PDF format saved in my documents section and then hit "post". Perhaps I am not correctly following the uploading procedure. Please advise.

          Peace.

Yes, I can see it. Also, when I click on it, I get a larger image. )

That's interesting, coz I've never used that option, I don't think we had that in the old board.

I think it's ok, since members can view it. However, another option is to 'Insert Image'. The only thing is, you'd have to get the image online first. Then right click, hit properties, copy properties, paste it here, highlight it, then click Insert Image from the icons above so it can be viewed in the original size, without clicking. But as I said, the option you used is just fine.

            Peace.

              Peace
To those of you who believe the quran has many versions, and has been changed - please provide some proof. I read this entire thread and not one person who claims there are many versions or distortions has given any proof. If we are to have a fruitful discussion we can't rely upon heresay. Please tell me exaclty where I can find any two conflicting versions of al-quran. Thank you.
              Peace.

                  Salaam Soul2Squeeze,

About versions, maybe this link will help you out a bit. It's an article by Layth concerning Hafs and Warsh al-qur'an.

                      Peace
Very informative article Layth, Jazak Allah kheir !
As for the "versions" described, I recall reading in a book written by a professor (not muslim) that these variations weren't really variations at all, as there were different dialects and some wrote in different styles, but all conveyed the same meaning word for word. However it does become problematic for later generations when the dialectical and grammatical "habits" die out. This leaves us with major gaps we need to fill with careful research as Layth has done ...Really excellent work Brother Layth.

As for the idea that God didn't protect the book since there are these slight variations, I completely disagree. The verse numbers are an innovation to begin with. Jibreel did not sit with the prophet and say " ok, Bism Ellah Elrahman Elraheem - that's verse 1". Whether we follow Warsh or Hafs or something between the two as Layth mentioned, this would not effect the book in any way (perhaps in a mathematical count). All verses are there with all meanings intact - and that would equate to protection of the quran. Let's assume however that we want to retrace history and correct/verify the count (as we should), code 19 would do so and that's protection of the quran in and of itself. How do we assume that since there is a discrepency in verse numbers or that there were different dialects that this all equates to God breaking His Promise to protect the quran ?
                      Peace
