The answer is simple just to have faith in Allah (SWT). You will get the guidance from Creator. Nobody can provide you the guidance except Allah (SWT).

I can understand that, but what happened to the Quran, its exegesis and other relevant Islamic studies? Did you just forget to mention it or is it not part of Islam?

How does one study and understand ISLAM?

There are many approaches and they are different depending on the purpose, if religious, or history or kind of anthopology studies, or to gain spiritual knowledge and of course must be different if who is studying it is muslim or is not.
Personally, not being muslim nor any other religion, I collect information mainly from muslims online and offline, like a field work, I read the sources and books about islam, mohammad, and history of religions.

This site and forum is a fantastic tool. Just with Wakas and his www.studyQuran.co.uk we'd have a lot but there is much more with so many sections, threads and topics discussed and with the advantage that it is open.

              Peace,

My view is that you can only understand Islam when you understand it's purpose and that is the development of your 'Self'(conciousness/soul). When you understand this, you can see that it goes beyond just the Quran, the Quran shows you the road, but you need more then that to travel the road, faith and knowledge must go hand in hand. So you must learn as much as you can about this world, this creation, about human psyche. Djenna is being in growth, Gehenna is being in stagnation. The Quran focusses on developing yourself to reach higher stages of your Self. "To 'breach' the borders of heaven and earth." (5533) So to understand the path, first you have to understand it's goal, then to know what to learn becomes more clear.....

Gehenna is argued to be the hinnam valley of Jerusalem. They used to worship dark deitys there, and later (or earlyer) it was a garbage dump constantly burning, where the bodies of criminals etc. was dumped. The criminals went to gehenna, the mindset of the people (idolators) of gehenna is a dangerous one. Makes perfect sense to me. As does arnolds explanation.

What is Islam? I dont know, but here is how i personally experienced it work just a couple of weeks ago.

2 people attacked me on the streets of copenhagen, one from behind and took stranglehold on me and pulled me down to the ground. the other kicked me in the face, this is after i was hit in the face with a fist and took grounded position, to fight back. So these 2 was all over me, yet i just stood up, I mean i couldnt even feel him on my back with his arm around my neck, and i was so infuriated it felt like wildfire in my blood and i shouted them right in the face. The guy who kicked me in the face had allready ran a few steps back in utter terror that i just stood up like that, and all the kick did was making me more angry. The guy who pulled me down was so afraid, that he put his hands in front of his face, palms out and turned cheek. And when i saw this i just fell down. No rage, no anger, no need of revenge, and i left. I felt like driven all the way through, like being inside a body that was now remote controlled.

When you get attacked like that for no reason, often it cost you part of your soul as you say. Something, be it pride, whatever, takes a deep blow that can take time to heal. I had none of that, i felt strangely rightious ???

I have had similar things, that didnt include violence happen to me over the last months. So what am i doing different that i wasnt doing before? I dont know, i simply do not know, except i have developed suspicion, nearly hatred towards anything that can take position as an idol. And i follow my heart 100%. I trust in God, and im no longer binding my camel, God will take care of it all.

And yes, the Quran was a huge part of the way here, and still is.

                Peace

                    peace danish
Nowadays, understanding islam is becoming more and more difficult, especially for those who
studies it with prejudices and doubts. And because of false traditions, uncertain "ahadith",
possible myths, u will find urself intrigued many times, especially that everytime u grasp some faith,
one of the atheist jump over, and start shooting on islam, on coran especially.
What's the solution? Simple, just start from the point that nobody can reject, the faith that is already
in u, the fact that GOD created u, ur existance can't be just an accident.
When u put that in ur mind, and decide to start a quest to find GOD, ask HIM for help and HE will guide u.

2186 And if My servants ask you about Me, I am near answering the calls of those who call to Me.
So let them respond to Me and believe in Me that they may be guided.

u have what u need, a mind, just use it, and the proofs about GOD r various.
Nobody can tell it to u, u must find it by urself.
                    salam
