    Peace be upon you,

Yes, IMAGES are very very powerful. The are very powerful seeds that get planted into our spirits(nafs).

I have a question though, what is a "halal" movie? I think what we need are "Haraam" movies. Why do I say that? Because our focus is to be at all times "al masjid al HARAAM".

The problem with many movies toda is that they dont have ENOUGH restrictions(haram). They are too "free" to just show anything without any regard for how it effects mankind.

So to give my answer to your original question, movies are not good or bad, it depends on how you use them, same with music.

      Hi, Alen here.
I define halal movie as a movie where non of the quranic rules have been broken, meaning no one smokes in the movie, there's no nudity, no bad language, ...you know, stuff like that.

Yes, today's movies are too "free" and that's why i have decided to move to Los Angeles and get involved in the movie industry. I got 9 screenplays. Two of them are about Islam, REAL Islam, you know, Qur'an alone thing.

      As salamu alaykum.

I dont really think there is anything like a 'halal' movie ... the most impt thing is how you portray a msg to the audience!

          Peace be upon you Alen,

I agree with you, but just wanted to point out the confusion of the word "haraam". We are searching for the "haraam" (restrictions), but many people use that word as a bad thing.

            Salam upon you all,

I think Alens idea is a very good one. I have been reading alot on this site and I get more excited about the potential here every minute. I feel like I found a home with fellow True Islam brothers and sisters. I think we have many things we can and should do to try to reach out to the rest of the world to teach about the message of God in the Quran. I am willing to help out or contribute in whatever way I can.

Alens idea of a movie or documentary is very good, as are other ideas ive seen here such as starting a charity where we can help the poor and needy. I also seen some suggestions of trying to get an annual convention started which is also good. I also think what we should do, if possible, is to start a live chatroom here. I know online chat is very popular and its a way for us to stay in touch and really get to know each other. Its so much easier and organized when we can just log in and start talking to others, it is also a very good way to reach out to new muslims or those searching before the traditional muslims convert them.

There is so much potential here that the ideas and opportunities to spread the word of God alone /Quran alone are endless, lets get organized, lets get out in the media somehow, lets make a name for ourselves and , God willing, we will be the vanguard of the new generation of True Islam.

This may not be the proper place to post this message so sorry if i interupted a topic, im still new to this site and will try to play by the rules,

            Salam,

            Kurt

              Salam Alen,

              As salamu alaykum.
              Respectfully.

              Alen here.
I've been searching for a while and i would like to know what do you think about this is movie industry a sin in Islam? I mean, i see making movies as a way to portray true muslims to the bigger mass of people.

Movies are like mechanical preacher and i think as a writer and director myself, movie industry can help Islam and muslims to be better. With money made from the movies, we can help other people and be better muslims.

Of course, when i talk about movies, i talk about halal movies, where good scripts are written and women don't have to undress in order to bring people to the theatres. I have written 9 scripts and they're all halal.

              Ass alamu alaykum.

Were you able to raise money to fund your movies/documentaries?
              Peace. Myr.

I weren't able to raise money here in Slovenia for such a movie about islam because i wanna shoot it in Hollywood for several reasons

                1. Bigger movie industry.
                2. Bigger audience.
                3. More money (and therefore more means to help the poor and needy)
                4. Quality.

Sure, i could make a small movie about islam and muslims today in Slovenia but it just wouldn't grab that many people and the message of the TRUE Islam would be lost and the sunnis here would probably stone me.

I wanna make movies and the ones that are about islam, the REAL Islam, would be such movies where i wouldn't wanna make sunnis, shi'a or whabais angry. I also don't wanna make non-muslims angry.

There was a guy from Holland who made a movie about Islam but he was only showing that muslims beat their women and oppress them and later someone killed that director. His name was Van Gogh, i think, you can check on IMDb.com.

As soon as i get to Hollywood, insha'Allah, i will start making plans about this movie and i hope and pray o Allah that it will bring the right message of us, who follow Qur'an alone and that it won't make anyone angry.

God bless you and good luck.
                As salamu alaykum.

                  Salam Alan,

I think there was a misunderstanding from my part. I thought you were already in LA. Hollywood is about sex, control, and money only. Being an independent film maker is maybe the option you should think of.
Inchallah the path will be made easy to you. Peace. Myr.

Yes, you are right. Hollywood is basically sin but i believe that we can make it more Islamic, we, muslims, can direct movies that are okayed with ur'an, that are not sinful.

We can spread the Message across the globe and in a way that all people will get it in their own language and by sitting down. Cinema is the best way to send out a message.

And yes, i do plan on becoming independent movie maker, as well as independent producer. Producer usually takes 70% of the movie profit so i'll decide how money should be distributed.

Thank you and may Allah reward you with Paradise.
                    As salamu alaykum.

Just for a clue to the potential movie makers...

How can a movie be used to propagate the message of the Quran? The answer simply lies in the way the Quran discussed various issues and states of human affairs. Some of the sciences and studies related with the Quranic issues are mentioned below that may help a Muslim.

                      1. Metaphysics and Ontology
                      2. Psychology
                      3. Consciousness
                      4. Epistemological problems/dilemma related with ethics
                      5. Beauty and sublimity of the universe
                      6. Man?s position, its nothingness and its greatness
                      7. Tendencies that drive one to remain satisfied with physical world or to search for God in response to his affinity/passion for a permanent existence.
                      8. The conflicts in various relations that rise due to separation from God, the unification of the conflicts due to submission to God as per Quranic premises.
                      9. The emanation, as geometrical corollaries, of ethics of Islam from its Quranic premises.

Some thinkers of importance Descartes, Berkeley, Hume, Kant, Spencer, Bergson, Russell, Sartre, Kafka, Schopenhauer, Husserl, Heidegger, Jung, Nagel, Searle, Paul Davis.

                        Respectfully.

I think movie about Islam, Qur'an and muslims should be in such way that it will not make anyone angry, non-muslims or muslims, it should only focus on the important issues.

It should answer the questions, show solutions and explain why are such verses in the Qur'an revealed to mankind. It should portray the world with and without the Qur'an, that the society without the Qur'an suffers and that IF Qur'an was installed as a Law in the society, then the people would live better.

Movie about Islam should show us how women in Afghanistan are suffering just as much as women in America who don't have jobs, low welfare and no health insurance, not to mention that the movie about Islam should portray that a woman in hijab is under pressure in Arabia as much as the woman in Las Vegas who is an object to men with money.

No offence to all women, to Afghan, Arab and American women. They're all suffering in one way or another.

                        As salamu alaykum.

                          Hello Alen,

Its great to see a movie director in this forum..as I am also a director and also an editor. Its quite inspiring to see that you are making move on God alone concept...Its all cool.

My approach of fliming is a bit different than yours I guess...I am not much bothered by the freeness of movie industry as I believe everyone should have the freedom to express their view..either its good or bad, cause only the audience will decide which they will accept or not. I believe in no resriction...If good is ment to be stronger than bad, than it will prevail. So I am not worried about the freeness in movei industry. May be what we can think is enough good movies are made or not..!! ) Moreover I think its healther to have both on the platform so people can compare and take the best. Hiding anything pushes it to go underground and make it more appealing to the audience. Its better to combat face to face. It creates more awareness..........So there will be always those who are making good movies and also bad movies. Anyway this is just my opinion..)

I wish you goodluck on your mission.....

                          peace

                            Thanks, brother.
I've been told that maybe i should consider making a movie about Islam here, in Slovenia, but here's the thing. Our movies hardly ever get as far as Berlion Film Festival and that's why i need to do this thing in Hollywood becaus eonce you put someone like Brad Pitt in the movie or Halle Berry, people will se it and i mean mass of people, sea of people.

You put American actress in the movie, the whole world will see it, put Slovenian actress in it, Slovenia will see it and maybe some European country.

Thanks and good luck to you too.
                            As salamu alaykum.

Perhaps a not too straight-forward preachy movie would appeal to the masses. I quite like films that make me think but whether or not that'll also appeal to the masses (where the money is at) is a different issue. There's a reason why Hollywood likes their ladies to strip even though the story doesn't need it. It attracts the men. Which also means more money. I don't for a minute believe the bullshit about nudity being essential to most of the stories because if one were to look at the movies of the 30's/40's you don't see any. Neither do you see nudity in say Malaysian cinema or even Bollywood. Heck these last two don't even have kissing scenes! Well maybe not Bollywood if I'm not wrong but then it's only recently.

The BIGGEST draw however, would be a kid's movie. That'll make tons.

Were you able to raise money to fund your movies/documentaries?
                                    Peace. Myr.

                                    As salamu alaykum.
                                    Respectfully.

                                    Hi All,

I'm a producer and it would be great to develop programming that isn't to lying to people profit(I use to produce news). this is super exciting, so I would like to volunteer and help however I can.

I would suggest coming to hollywood north instead, Canada is a great cheap copy, so many huge films have been made here ( happy gilmore, resident evil, fantastic four, brokeback mountain, capote, Legends of the Fall...)
especially Toronto or Vancouver. And you're close enough to have access to the American market. The toronto international film festival is only second to Cannes. There is also money to shoot here, because we are dying to compete with the Americans.
Have you considered making co-production?? you may not have to go anywhere if there's a great story to be told in slovenia.
Canada will invest in films shot abroad too, you would just have to justify why a canadian audience would want it.

Inshalla, How ever you want to play it, if you think I can help, just let me know.

                                    Peace!

Neither do you see nudity in say Malaysian cinema or even Bollywood. Heck these last two don't even have kissing scenes! Well maybe not Bollywood if I'm not wrong but then it's only recently.

                                      just a side note, but...

actually, Bollywood has gotten a lot more risque... i haven't seen any nudity yet in Bollywood movies, but there's defiantly kissing, pre-marital sex, lots of suggestive dancing, and infidelity.

if it sells, it gets filmed.

My cast is already memorising the lines, camera operator is waiting for my word and i guess as soon as i get some time, i will start writing my next script - number 13. God willing, InshaAllah, akoBogda.

                                          Peace,
                                          Respectfully.

You're right, sister, and i have been watvhing movies since i was 13. I'm 31 now.
I've noticed that Hollywood is lacking stories in the past two decades.
I know this will sound cheesy but i really do have fresh ideas, not seen before, although some of my scripts might remind you of some other movies but i do not copy, i do not steal, i get challenged to make a better movie then the one i saw.

For example i love Face/Off so i decided to write a better then that. And i did. At least i think so.
I'm in a hurry so i'll return to this topic later.
                                          God bless you.
                                          Peace.
