Salaam,
The website is blocked for me in the UAE because it "is against the cultural, political, and moral values of the UAE". Gee....that just makes me want to see it all the more! Would someone out there in the "free world" send me the page in an email??
Thanks.Lisa

Salaam Lisa,
Perhaps my attachments might help you out a bit. Both are in zip formats. Just extract them to a single folder. The propaganda.zip contain a folder "progpaganda" which you should just leave it like that, otherwise some links will not work. In other words, the structure of the folders might look something like this.
Critical_Thinking_Lessons --> Containing major articles in the lessons of logic
_____propaganda --> Containing articles dealing with propaganda materials I think I've managed to clear out almost all the links by editing the source codes. If there's a problem, let me know. It works fine for me after I edit them. ;D
The first file you should open is Phil.CT.Lessons.html
Have fun D=adley=

I can stand and even accept, even at the cost of my previous position, any new idea up to some extent. But I have some problems as mentioned below
I believe in God. I just don?t care even when I get myself defeated by someone for my belief. I can?t answer to many a questions from my atheist friends. Similar is the case with Muhammad and Quran.
What do you think, from this critical-thinking angle, of this tendency of mine?

peace all,
I've been reading this site lately, some of the content is very interesting
http//www.santarosa.edu/~dpeterso/permanenthtml/lessonFRAME.html
I'll quote a short part of one of the lessons...
- Resistance to Change
a. Insecurity and Fear
Even if the belief you have is false, the thought of changing that belief is often frightening. This is usually because of the implications and consequences. What about all the effort you put into defending the old position? What about all those years of living as though that position were true? How will my life be different if I accept this new position? Will my family or my friends reject me?
Many continue to believe something which is false because it is comfortable and familiar. This is irrational and unhealthy, but common.
b. Fear and Tradition
Tradition is connected to loyalties. Loyalties are connected to relationships. For instance, if a person is raised in a religious home, many relationships are tied to that belief. It is traditional for family members to continue on. If information comes one's way which challenges that faith, there are psychological reasons that the person will not want to consider the challenges.
Always remember, truth cannot fall to criticism. Only those things which are not true can be revealed as false. One can challenge the truth all day long, and if it is true, then it will stand. If you are a member of a group which tries to shield itself from criticism, this should be a warning to you.

can you tell us (or atleast me) what questions your athiest friend asks?
Most athiests have the wrong concept about God. They think it's some supernatural genie or something in space.anyway, about your "tendency," it can be either of two things
- your belief is blind and nothing you learn can change them
- you have found all the answers you were looking for and are perfectly sure of your beliefs.
-
Actually, this thread is not related with those issues. Yet I mention some of the questions from my atheist friends. Please PM me if you have anything to say.
- What is the relation within the trio of God-Man-Evil? Why has God created this universe and evil and put poor man in this intricate and horrific trial?
- What is Matter and what is Mind? How can I explain (philosophically or scientifically) how God is related with mind and Matter?
- If there is not something substantial (or material) out there, what then is history? If there is nothing real and objective, what then is this Big Bang in physics? If the world begins from Big Bang in an objective fashion, what was the necessity for God to take so much time for evolving the world which remained without man for so long?
