a few questions i have
what exactly is shirk? ok it's worskiping anything other than the One God, but what is that?
how do we know we're not unintentionaly doing that?
i read if one spends too much time with something, like the thing one ocupies his/her mind with the most, then that's his god. but what is too much time?
if a man spends a lot of time with his wife and kids, does that mean he's worshiping them?
is there a limit on how much time we can spend with anything else? -

is there a limit on how much time we can spend with anything else?Spouses, children, material things, etc. are all blessings that allow us (or that we should) to focus our praise and thankfulness to Allah. These are all reminders, similar to reading Quran. They should evoke our praises, not take over our focus.
If you spend too much time with things and forget Allah, then you have just set up a partner IMO. In everything that you do, you have to have taqwa.
